Instead of visiting disaster scene, Obama lectures Louisiana on

Posted: Aug 20, 2016

Though he could not be bothered to interrupt his Martha’s Vineyard vacation to actually visit those devastated by historic flooding in Louisiana and beyond, President Barack Obama’s Justice Department did manage to send the disaster-plagued state’s leaders a refresher course in anti-discrimination law. The federal agency drafted a 16-page document laying out in excruciating detail the hoops aid workers must jump through in order to avoid running afoul of the law. Any organizations receiving federal money to assist in the cleanup, the advisory stated, must steer clear of “unlawful discrimination on the basis of race, color or national origin (including limited English proficiency).” While the legal reminder on its own is hardly surprising given the administration’s frequent reminders on the subject, it struck many local leaders as insulting — especially given Obama’s conspicuous absence from the affected communities. Nevertheless, the DOJ memo cited the last devastating storm to strike the Gulf Coast — 2005’s Hurricane Katrina — in making the case that such a reminder is warranted. Images that circulated in the wake of that storm, the letter asserted, “exposed significant inequalities in access to emergency response and recovery efforts.” Despite initially expressing no plans to visit the state, Obama confirmed he will be traveling to Louisiana early next week. The announcement came on the same day Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and his running mate Mike Pence paid a visit to flooded areas in the region. ;

Trump sent an 18-wheeler full of aid and Glenn Beck has the Mercury Fund if you want to donate to help. Don't depend on the fed govt anymore.

This simply confirms that the government CANNOT protect you in a natural disaster.

Of course the government can't protect you in a natural disaster. - sm

It won't even be able to get help to you for anywhere from 1 day to 1 week, depending on the type and scope of the disaster and exactly where you are in the affected area.

People need to take some responsibility for themselves. Everyone should have a bug-out bag packed with everything they would need to get along for 3 days, clothes, food, water, first aid, at least minimal emergency shelter, etc., in case they have to evacuate their home suddenly--a bag for each person in the family. In addition, everyone should have the supplies on hand to shelter in their home for at least a week, preferably a month, without heat, electricity, or running water.

Here is a link to what FEMA recommends. They know they can't prevent disaster striking, and they know they can't be there to hold everyone's hand and provide for every little thing they need within an hour of it happening.

But Obama's sycophants will excuse him. I wonder what it must be like to be able to completely deny the truth with it's smacking one in the face?

Prince of Fools. The danger to America is not Barack Obama, - but a citizenry capable of entrusting

[ In Reply To ..]
a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their president.

2008 Czech Newspaper Editorial.

They get it. They've lived under communism.

It will be very difficult to undo the "follies" of Obama, who you - seem to suggest is merely inept.

[ In Reply To ..]
It's a great mistake to call Obama's actions "follies." Although he disguised his intentions for the purposes of being elected, he's accomplished precisely the "changes" in America that he always intended.

The outcomes of the Obama administration are anything but accidental They are, in fact, the ultimate manifestation of Obama's true beliefs and his true purpose with respect to America, American society and America's place in the world, i.e., whether domestically or globally.

It's impossible to like what you see, and it's going to be extremely difficult to reverse the destructive forces that Obama has unleashed. Y
Obama - where did he come from? - Older and Wiser

On 7/27/2004, network news media sang the praises of basically unknown Barack Obama, junior senator from Illinois, calling him a "rising star and future presidential material." All of this for what, giving a speech at the Dem convention? We should all ask ourselves who put him there, who set this up, and who told our crooked news media to say this? Therein lies the answer. Obama has done what they wanted him to do. He has carried forth their agenda.

time, money, energy - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
What money? I'm sure the campaign is paying for it.

Time: What else has he got to do except run for President?

Energy: The news said he spent exactly 49 seconds helping pass food or something in line for a photo op.

Trump devoted all of 49 seconds - handing out Playdoh

[ In Reply To ..]
Of all things. A phony, a sham, a dummy, and a dope.

No thanks, Trumpie. Go back on your private plane now, you know you don't want to deal with the little people.

How can anyone think this is anything but blatant opportunism? Ugh.

A strangely vicious and presumptuous judgment - aside from being quite wrong

[ In Reply To ..]
It's pretty clear where you're coming from, eh?

Okay, if those are the rules, let me be equally presumptuous. I'm guessing you yourself haven't taken 49 seconds to pick up the phone and make a donation to the Red Cross or the Louisiana Flood Relief Fund.

Eh what? As the Good Book says, "Judge not, that ye yourself be not judged."
"For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged - and...

Some might call it "just desserts", "karma" or, in more earthy terms, "Payback is a bitch."

You are right, I am an MT, I do NOT donate - money, I go to the foodbank
[ In Reply To ..]
Sorry for being so poor and needy. So great you can be so generous!

Are you an MT? Most of us are bankrupt and penurious, which is exactly why that jacka@@ Trump is completely wrong for us and this country.

Eh what? Who's judging now?

Please. Come at me bro. Because a jerk gave out Playdoh for 49 seconds as a photo op I am supposed to be ashamed. Try harder. Not even a dent.
Even though you don't have much money, you are - still required to tithe. That is
[ In Reply To ..]
not a rich/poor thing.
No I am not required to tithe - Because no religion for me
[ In Reply To ..]
And thank goodness for that. I prefer being kind to people on a one to one basis and following the golden rule: "Do unto others as you as you would have them do unto you."

I sure hope someone stands around handing out Playdoh to Trump one day. He deserves it.
Where do you think the golden rule came from? yes, the Bible. - Tithing and donating your time are not
[ In Reply To ..]
the same thing.
You talk about treating people as you want to be treated, then - proceed to bash Trump.
[ In Reply To ..]
I guess that means treat SOME people as you want to be treated.
Do you really think Trump treats people as - he wants to be treated?
[ In Reply To ..]
The answer is no. He treats people awfully. He thinks he is above everyone.

So why not judge him for a change.

Anyone who listens to him for 2 seconds can tell he is a completely obnoxious, selfish, evil human being, certainly NOT presidential material.

Yet if he needed help I would help him if I met him on a one-to-one basis. I doubt he would help me.

The guy's a jerk, people, open your eyes. He has not 1 ounce of the milk of human kindness in him, never did. How on earth can he be your hero?
Do you think Hillary is telling the truth? Do you think she - treats people fairly? Who said
[ In Reply To ..]
Trump was my hero?
Yes and Yes Hillary does tell the truth and - she does treat people fairly
[ In Reply To ..]
Cue the shrieks of outrage. I do NOT care.

She is a good woman, extremely experienced, and will make a great president.

Cue the heads exploding and hatred.

The sad thing is, just because people (most of them without any foundation at all - like Giuliani "but if you google..." - try googling Giuliani is a lizard person, lots of hits from that too...) believe Hillary is so awful, they figure anything is better.

She is not awful. She has been demonized by Fox et al, glibly helped along by the MSM. I repeat, if she were truly the criminal Trump et al claims, she would be in jail.

No, Trump is the one who should really be in jail. He IS truly awful. He is lazy, does not do his homework, thinks he can pay people off to do the actual work and is, in fact, a danger to our country.

So maybe he is not your hero. Hillary is my hero.

Cue the many many posts of total screeds of Heritage Foundation and Alex Jones claptrap which no one will read except said devotees.

You're welcome.

He was asked by the governor - to wait

[ In Reply To ..]
It's an easy litmus test for if the reporting is for or against Obama: Do they include the part about how the governor asked him to hold off his visit, so as not to require the diverting of the first responders, who are currently kinda busy rescuing people. He's coming exactly when the governor requested him to, Tuesday.

When Bush did the same the media ignored it, - and called him racist. Karma.

far more money for Corps civil works projects than any other state, about $1.9 billion for the levees, but with the city being run by Dems for decades the money went to "questionable" projects.

Of course, we all remember School Bus Nagin New Orleans Mayor, who gave a profanity-laced interview blasting President Bush.

However, Nagin's most newsworthy comments - where he explained why he didn't used hundreds of city school buses to evacuate his city's flood victims - went almost unnoticed.

Turns out, Nagin turned his nose up at the school buses to help evacuate the city demanding more comfortable Greyhound coaches instead. Then of course there's the corruption.

There was a New Orleans evacuation plan. Unless people are prepared to use it what good is it? What dumb city officials came up with it?

Not a swing state - PT3

Obama and Hillary was not worried about Louisiana - they are not a swing state. Also, he could have at least called a press conference and said something about Louisiana and Milwaukee - too much trouble I guess..
