Trump puts NATO members on notice: We ain't your

Posted: Jul 21, 2016

Ever since the League of Nations, treaties that the US has entered into with respect to so-called "allies" have resulted in the US bearing the brunt of the heavy lifting, both financially and militarily while these so-called "allies" have skipped out on their own obligations.

The press is making a big deal out of the fact that Trump will not allow this situation to persist.  In response to whether the US would honor OUR obligations to defend NATO states, he DARES TO ASK WHETHER THEY HAVE HONORED THEIR OBLIGATIONS.

The press is saying that Trump's position is "frightening" to our allies.  Why so? Because you're one of the nations ignoring your own responsibilities?

I'm fine with Trump serving notice on our alliies that the US will no longer be spewing money and sacrificing American lives like there's an endless supply of either.  And I think it's quite predictable that when the sugar-daddy says enough is enough, the flies will  naturally be dismayed.  When I think of some of the behaviors of our so-called alllies (for instance, France refusing to allow US planes to fly over its territory in 1986, and withdrawing troop commitments during Desert Storm), I have no problem with Trump saying:

THE PARTY IS OVER!  BE AN ALLY OR NOT, BUT IF YOU ARE AN ALLY, SHOULDER YOUR PART OF THE DEAL.

Liberals will, of course, find this notion quite quaint.

Worthless NATO and UN - Disgusted

The UN needs a swift kick in the arse too and booted OUT of our country while that Washington sewer is being cleaned up.

I agree. They are worthless. - nm

UN puts Iran on the human rights council?? Meanwhile we carry - the cost of hosting the UN and more.

[ In Reply To ..]
There have also been numerous scandals involving fraud, abuse and misappropriation of UN funds etc. that most Americans don't even know about because the one-world-order media barely reports it.

As for NATO, if being a member means other nations can opt out of their support for us when we need their cooperation, I'm absolutely fine with the US telling Europe "Go to hell. Our military lives and our treasure are precious to us, so man up and row your own goddamn boat. If you want to stop Putin, you can do it but it will be by making your own sacrifice and commitment, not hiding behind the US."

In Nov. we will either have "It's Morning Again in America" - or it's MOURNING again in

EVERY President during my lifetime has STUNK - MT

[ In Reply To ..]
Even presidents I formerly liked, e.g. Reagan and JFK, did enough dirty deeds while in office to fill a NYC phone book. Of course, the MSM did NOT report this stuff widely, but the info is out there. (Most of it leaked after they left office.)

All you guys believing that YOUR candidate is going to make everything wonderful are drinking Kool-Aid. First of all, the Presidency has limited powers. (Unless you're Obama, in which case you just EO everything. Do you want more of that? Sadly, most folks answer YES if they approve of the policy even though they admit the method is abuse of power.)

Secondly, the U.S. is GLOBAL now. We have very little sovereignty left, thanks to UN crap, etc. It's really more like a CHARADE of national sovereignty. The powers that be have signed onto the NEW WORLD ORDER AGENDA lock, stock, and barrel.

Any President who bucks the powers that be winds up like JFK. (Yes, that's why they took him out. But he was did his duty to comply in certain areas.)

Where were these protests a long time ago...ridiculous - nickMT

mostly you all seem to just echo Trump with whatever ludicrous notion he comes up with. Fall in line...

it is almost silly. I think you all want a sugar-daddy, like all the people in Trump's world - looks like they will do anything for money, even service a tyrant and a narcissist.

you see beautiful women around him, I see women who would do anything for a buck and a lavish lifestyle, even crawl into bed with, well, ew, sickening.

you are just infatuated, the same way others were infatuated 8 years ago. and you do realize, you are voting for someone for the EXACT same reasons you accused people of 8 years ago. for the last 8 years we have been hearing how unexperienced our president is, Trump is unexperienced. you are all just hypocrites to the max. your words are false.

Nick, as a Cruz supporter I agree although I understand - why so many support Trump.

[ In Reply To ..]
We are so tired of our constitution being trashed and Obama has done that and gotten away with it because of ignorance or just flat out not caring for political reasons. Now the tied has turned as it always does.

Trump will only be able to do so much if he wins. Maybe he'll blame his failures on Obama, like Obama does with Bush, and people will believe it just like they do with Obama.

I disagree - NickMT

It is painfully obvious that President Obama used the tools he had available in order to do something. Unfortunately, the only thing republicans know is dictatorship - they know nothing about real life and how one has to compromise. I do it all day, every day in my life or I would not have a job let alone a husband or relationships. When you lose at a game or an election, you then have to play fair. They have acted like spoiled little losers and it makes me ashamed to even watch them talk, like little boys in school fighting on the playground. You have to rise above and work with others. If you are not willing to do that, then you should absolutely not have a job that is paid for by the majority of this country, that is thievery.

Were people voted for in congress to do nothing, really? I mean, they have health insurance, probably cars that are paid for, pay for no gas on a daily basis, their spouses and children are probably all covered - all the while taking all this money, to just say no to President Obama for 8 years. Disgusting.

From what I am understanding, the republicans voting for Trump are doing so because they have a failed party, a party that has completely ignored the will of the majority in this country.

Your representatives in congress have somehow hijacked our democratic process only to force their will on this great country. Basically, the majority of this country voted in a black president, and the majority has been completely disrespected by this congress.

IMO, your congress does not hate Obama, they hate what he represents, they hate the majority of this country who want equal opportunity and equality in everything, they hate period.

We want diversity, we want democracy, and your party absolutely wants to keep their money and power and not let anyone else in. They only look like selfish greedy spoiled brats, that is what I see. Afraid of change, afraid to let anyone else have anything for fear of losing what they have.

Why are people interested in Trump because from all I see, he is exactly like Obama was, all about change, taking a chance on someone with no experience. People for Trump are actually against the republican congress, isn't that why they want him?

You have had a do-nothing congress with a stranglehold on this country, and refused to work with Obama in any way, shape or form. Geeze they even admitted it minutes after his election. Does it take a genius to figure that out.

They hate what Obama stands for, not Obama.

Why people would want a dictator is bizarre. If you want real change, you must get rid of congress and the senate, these people have all the power, which is why Obama has done what he has done, just to get something done, and by the way, it has always been the MAJORITY, that is what the majority of this country wants, just what Obama has done.

Congress will castrate even your Trump. He will also have no real power. I would bet the congress does the same thing to him the first few minutes, make a pact, refuse to work with him, blah blah blah.

Your republican party is the cause of unrest in this country, your party is so full of hate and greed.

I am a registered Independent but I vote for whoever is in my best interest, and Trump (or Hillary) are not it. Absolutely not. I will vote for whoever is on the ballot that I think will work for me, Ms Average Citizen.

Just stop the hypocrisy - embrace Obama because voting for Trump is the exact same thing, maybe worse because he is a proven liar and flip-flopper and I think he will do exactly what your congress wants him to do if he should win. He will make deals, all right, deals to help himself, congress and all the rich people - we will be servants period.

Imagine Trump against you. Imagine disagreeing with him on something - you really think you would have a voice? He would just say 'kick her out' etc etc.

He is not a public servant, he hires servants.

Trump will not be able to do anything if elected other than line his own pockets and force everyone to wear Trump hats. Reminds me of North Korea. You better adore him or else...

Trump said "Nobody knows the system better than me, I alone can fix it." - To me that means he's been part of

[ In Reply To ..]
the problem, in other words he's been part of the system.

I really want to vote for Trump, but I just don't know. The way he's treated Cruz and the way he has alienated his supporters is going to make it difficult. He said he doesn't need us! He reaches out more to Bernie's supporters than Cruz supporters.

As far as Cruz' speech, Trump knew what he was going to say. He had paid operatives in the audience booing Trump.

Side bar, I think Obama did the same thing. We tried to warn his voters but they didn't care, and neither did the media. So some of this is definitely pay back.
