To me, character matters above everything else. When it comes to the candidates I support:
Liars need not apply.
Perverts need not apply.
Grifters need not apply.
Untrustworthy need not apply.
That's the bottom line. These are weeded out of consideration before I think about anything else.
I don't care what promises they make. I don't care what they say about their political opponents, because their very impoverishment of character means that you cannot rely on anything they say.
IF CHARACTER EVER AGAIN TAKES ITS RIGHTFUL PLACE IN POLITICAL DECISIONS, REGARDLESS OF PARTY, this nation WILL survive. But so long as character continues to be a matter of indifference to an electorate who can only see the glitter of false promises, this nation will continue to decline, until one day it fades away like a candle in the wind.
You who are unaware that this nation is in peril, you yourselves ARE the peril.
