Trump supporter says Mexican restaurant refused to

Posted: Jul 5, 2016

An Orange County woman claims she was tossed from a Mexican restaurant Sunday, not for too much tequila — but for too much Trump. Esther Levy, 61, of Warwick, said an employee at the popular Cancun Inn eatery in Sugar Loaf chucked her out for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat and a Trump button. Levy said she was booted for her support for the presidential candidate who wants to curtail illegal immigration and build a wall on the Mexican border. Joined by retired local judge Alvin Goldstein, she took a seat and ordered two sangrias from a smiling waitress without incident, Levy recalled. But the server soon returned and told them they had to leave. “I was shocked,” Levy, a writer, told The Post. “She [the waitress] seemed very surprised by it all and was told to refuse us service. We just got up and started to leave.” “On the way out, the co-owner decided to yell at me and humiliate me,” Levy recalled. “He said, ‘We don’t serve Trump supporters here. Get out of here and never come back.’ ” “I was told that as a private business they could refuse to serve who they wanted,” Levy said. “I don’t expect anything to come of that.” She said she was especially furious because she had been a loyal customer for 25 years. ;

A private business USED to be able to do what they wanted, but - since the bakery and pizza place

were used it's not the case anymore. See the hypocrisy here?

While it is a free country and I support refusal of service for any private entity this waitress should be fired. She just alienated (no pun intended) half the country. I hope they go bankrupt if the owner agreed to this. That will be enjoyable to see liberals get their due.

And given the mentality of many these days, I would not care to wear Trump or other un-PC gear into an eatery.... there is a good chance of something disgusting being done to the food.

She won't be fired because the owner told her to do - this. They should be sued for political

discrimination. This is why the website yelp.com was invented. Start posting reviews of their business.

Who are they loyal to, Mexico or America? - The answer is obvious.

we are reduced to. If you don't like our country, go home.

Looks like the owners are Hispanic racists. Why is this okay - but not for a bakery or pizza place?

[ In Reply To ..]
But every business owner must have this right. No exceptions.

It doesn't matter - HAHAHA

If you support Trump you don't support America. You support the destruction of America.

professional baker cater a gay wedding.

Refusing to photograph gays because you - disagree or hate gays

[ In Reply To ..]
Means you are doing the discriminating as the proprietor.

Somehow the "right" to discriminate seems to be something some equate with the "right" to not be discriminated against. Not so. That's why these cases result in millions giving money to the jerks refusing service yet their cases being lost in court because the law is on the side of those who are discriminated against, NOT those who wish to discriminate.

Because the restaurant owner knew that the patron was a Trump supporter due to the gear they were wearing, this might be an entirely different issue. Imagine, if you will, a Jewish Restaurant having to serve someone wearing a hat with a swastika on it.

That is really the difference. A gay person is being discriminated AGAINST because of what they are. The gays are not the haters in this scenario.

Those with the offensive Trump gear on or swastika paraphernalia are actually advocating views (by wearing the gear) that are anti the owner of the establishment, that are in fact professing they are against those who are serving them.

I think if you look at who is the hater and who is the hatee it is pretty easy to see who is being discriminated against or not.

In every case, the right to discriminate against others because of who they are is proven against the law, in this country at least, so far anyway. The "right" to discriminate against people because they are gay or any other religion besides Christian is not actually a right, nor should it be.

Whether or not people who express their hate via a Trump hat have the right to be served is probably going to be hashed out in the courts at some stage, I guess, but I cannot see hate winning, and yes to me and many others those hats represent hate.

Nice try but no cigar. Maybe we should go to a Mexican bakery - and ask them to make Make America

[ In Reply To ..]
Great Again cake. Hmmmmmmmm?
Go right ahead - it would be interesting
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know if many would refuse to make that cake, but if they did I can't say what the courts would do if sued. It would not be cut and dried for sure. It's just not the same thing as refusing to bake a cake for a gay wedding.

"Make America Great Again" is not saying "Go Home Mexicans" but to some it means that. I think if it went to court they could prove it meant that and that they were justified not to want to bake that cake. It would be like going into a Gay bakery and asking them to make a cake that says "Support Traditional Marriage Only."

Is it hate speech? No, not in and of itself, but the Mexicans would certainly be able to bring up examples of exactly what "Make America Great Again" means to them and why because these hateful speeches and examples are in the news every day, so I would say go for it if you like.

Truth about the video in question. nm - Dearborn resident
[ In Reply To ..]
In the video, some conservative Faux News wannabe called Steven Crowder acts out a bunch of flaming-gay stereotypes while asking for offensive and silly titles to be put on a wedding cake. This included asking for “Same Sex 4ever” to be emblazoned on his cake because, you know, someone would actually pay for that.

Amazingly, none of his requests are refused. Heck, I would’ve turned him away just for being such an idiot. What he’s asking for is also fair game for refusal because, uh, the word “sex.” These guys know what kind of game they’re playing.

In one scene, a woman wearing a hijab is handling his order. She asks him, “Wedding?” Crowder replies, “Yeah.”

She asks, “Who’s the wedding for?”

Crowder jumps back in shock from the counter and practically shouts, “It’s for, uh, two people getting married.”

She’s just trying to be conversational, bro. Wallah. You want a gay wedding cake made by Muslims? Dearborn’s gonna bake it for you. Hamdullah.

In another scene, the guy goes to a bread bakery where they’re churning out fresh pita in a brick oven. It’s obvious there are no cakes or sweets in the bakery. The place just makes bread. Despite not being able to take an order for a wedding cake, the men behind the counter still refer him to a place where he can get wedding photographs across the street, inshallah.

The only person who answers negatively to Crowder is a fellow who works at Hallab bakery on Warren road. I’ve gotten Nammoura there before — it’s pretty damn good. Unfortunately, there’s one minor issue: Hallab doesn’t bake wedding cakes. At all. Hallab does cater for weddings if you want a nice assortment of Lebanese sweets — but they don’t bake wedding cakes.

Good for the restaurant - HAHAHA

[ In Reply To ..]
Good. She got what she deserves. If she supports Trump, who is racist against Mexicans, she should not be eating in a restaurant eating Mexican food and ran by Mexicans.

This is only the beginning for Trump supporters. You cry because you can't eat in restaurants that do not support Trump....wait until he gets elected....you Trump supporters won't be able to leave your homes.

I'm glad they kicked her out. I wouldn't serve a Trump supporter either.

So you're okay with throwing someone out of a restaurant with - a Hillary button? Liberals support

[ In Reply To ..]
First Trump is not racist against Mexicans. There is no proof. In fact the opposite of what is truth. So that statement is so absurd not even worth mentioning.

Yes, the country is filled with vile and evil Trump haters. Don't worry, plenty of restaurants for us to eat at. If someone hates Trump that much that won't let them eat in their restaurant, then that is one restaurant that I would not want to eat in, as if they are consumed with that much hate, their food surely stinks and why waste money eating food that tastes like..well you know what. She should consider herself lucky not to have eaten food prepared by people who have no business being in the restaurant business and probably can't even cook well. I consider her lucky to not have had to endure such bad food prepared by bad people.

Oh, when Trump is elected we will definitely be able to leave our homes...with pride.

There is no longer humanity in this country. Everyone is supposed to be working together for a better country and better lives. Your post shows there is no more humanity with some people.

Now I know what people mean when they say Trump haters are on the wrong side of good.

Well stated! So much hate from the left, I think they truly are - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
completely consumed by hate. Shameful.

One wonders why - Trump supporters

[ In Reply To ..]
Would even go into a Mexican restaurant, considering...Why not go and have a taco bowl at Donald's restaurant instead? He says they're GREAT!!!

Probably for the same reason it is okay for them to pick up workers at Home Depot to landscape their home, the same reason they probably have Mexican cleaners, nannies, etc.

Did you really think his non-stop bashing would not have consequences? High School students have started chanting "Build that wall. Trump Trump Trump" at schools with high Hispanic populations - and also very good athletes. Now that's disgusting.

Do Trump and his supporters think they should be allowed to rub this garbage in the faces of people working and living with them? I don't blame that restaurant at all. Maybe Trump supporters, if they are going to wear all their paraphernalia, should eat Italian? Or something?

You do realize this isn't a Mexican thing, right? - SM

[ In Reply To ..]
It is about ILLEGAL ALIENS, most of whom happen to be Hispanic.

Is it fair to people of other countries who also want to immigrate to the United States?

How would you feel if you were in line at the grocery store and people were repeatedly cutting in front of you?

Okay then, fix the laws or enforce them - how about it red states?

[ In Reply To ..]
The Republicans have treated immigration reform like a hot potato because they want to get the votes of the haters, yet realize that if they were to give in to the "deport them all" demand it would result in economic and political chaos, and they will be even worse off than they are now among LEGAL Hispanics, whose votes are important to any candidate who wants to get elected.

How do you know who is illegal anyway? Just because someone is working in a Mexican Restaurant doesn't mean they are illegal, including the owner, yet IMO legal or not they have every right to get angry about the generic anti-Hispanic rhetoric put out by Trump.

If they are illegal they are just pawns, so I wish the Republicans would at least TRY to fix it or shut up about it. I guess Trump thinks he will fix it by deporting them all and building his wall, but guess what without Hispanic votes he will not be president and the segment of population whose votes he can count on is getting narrower and narrower.

Yes, maybe there are a few Hispanics who would like the illegals out too, but even they must get dismayed about the anti-Hispanic rhetoric (especially about the Judge who was born here in the US).

This isn't an isolated event. Trump supporter was thrown out of a - Mexican restaurant in NY for wearing
