Bohemia Crystal Glass Bowl

I've had this beautiful crystal bowl from the Czech Republic for years. It has never been used and is still in the box. I'd like to put it on the breakfast bar as a decoration, but what do I put in it? It won't be real or fake fruit. Empty? Potpourri? It's quite large, approximately 4 inches high and 9 inches across. Any suggestions would be helpful.;

[ In Reply To ..]I filled mine with water and floated some realistic looking plastic flowers in it. If you live in a warm climate, or otherwise have real flowers any time of year, that's another option. You would chop the stem off a large flower (like a gardenia or hibiscus) and float the real flower. Just make sure you change the water regularly.
You can also put some pretty marbles or other glass-type decorative items in there.

Pine cones and holly branches are nice.
During Christmas, you could fill it with ornaments. During Easter, it could be dyed or Faberge-type eggs.
You could put it in a bathroom and fill it with different scented soaps or large bath beads.

[ In Reply To ..]Cloves inhibit bacterial growth, so the orange is preserved by them. The more cloves you use, the longer the orange will last. I covered the entire surface of an orange with cloves over 10 years ago, and I still have it. It smells wonderful.
We did this as a Girl Scout activity around 20 years ago - and I still have mine. nm

Last week my stepfather bought new sliding doors and had them installed. It looks beautiful. He bought the kind with the tiny blinds between the glass.
