True to its title, this is an important watch for, as stated in the video, "Most people don't have a clue!"
Understanding this concept is CRITICAL to understanding our immigration problem, which is why I'm posting it here in Politics.

This is basic numeracy - just one of the fundamental thinking skills - that are lacking in society.
[ In Reply To ..]Sometimes called "mathematical literacy", numeracy steps beyond the simple skills needed to manipulate numbers (addition, subtraction, etc.) to learning how to grasp the meaning and inferences that can be derived logically from the numbers.
In addition to numeracy, our educational system has left many citizens bereft of others, namely:
*Basic principles of formal logic and the many seductive logical errors that masquerade as "proof".
*Basic principles of statistics.
*Basic principles of probability.
*Basic principles of the physical and life sciences.
*Basic principles of social institutions and government.
*World history and economic systems.
Together, these form the tools by which we build a rational framework for thinking not only about the world, but about ourselves as well - and that framework is the only hope we have of differentiating fact from fiction, truth from falsehood.
Of course, such differentiation itself only functions at all within a larger encompassing framework of CHARACTER - namely the willingness and determination to follow the truth where it leads you, whether you like it or not and even when - ESPECIALLY when - it shows you that you have been thinking wrong. Sadly, I believe that it is in THIS, the lack of DEDICATION TO TRUTH and not numeracy, as the professor suggests, where society is actually MOST lacking. If not, they would be eagerly seeking numeracy and the other basic skills.
