Moderates from both sides need to form a new alliance

Posted: Jun 24, 2016

I am sick of an atmosphere in which Americans view other Americans as "the enemy" and are manipulated by "the ruling elite class" to wage pitched battles against each other, while the elite ruling class makes hay out of the chaos and ruin.

How difficult can it be for ALL of us to see that "my-party-uber-alles" can NEVER be a successful political philosophy?  How reasonable is it to assume that ANY party has all the answers to governance - or even the best answers?  How likeliy is it that ANY party has the smartest people, or the best problem-solvers?

If people of good faith and good will differ in their approaches to social issues, how likely is it that there are good ideas coming out of both camps?

WHAT IS THIS MY-WAY-OR-THE-HIGHWAY THING that has been promoted from BOTH sides over the last several administrations?

What America needs is patriots, not partisans!  A patriot wants to know only one thing, which is "What is best for this nation?" while a partisan cares only about "winning", about "who is in power", about "defeating the 'enemy'"- and the enemy is defined as the political opposition.

When I talk to "normal" people - my friends, family and acquaintances - I can't help but notice how much we have in common, but they don't seem to jive with what the "ruling elite" want.

Maybe we should jettison the "ruling elite" and take our government back.

You/We are up against DECADES/GENERATIONS of media portrayal of the election cycle as a sporting event, with everyone rooting for their prospective "team" to "win." It is so firmly entrenched in our society that it is inherent to our culture. With investigative journalism DEAD and a handful of companies owning all major media outlets, overcoming that will be impossible.

In addition, there is no taking our country back. This country was FOUNDED by the "ruling elites." Sad reality.

I have always found myself to be more in the middle of the road, and its frustrating as all get out to have to choose from the left wing nut or the right wing nut, because if I don't I'm throwing my vote away. And when I talk to people I know, the majority of them feel the same way I do. I've seen polls over the years that said that more Americans actually identify as independents but don't feel there are candidates that represent them. So how will we ever fix this mess when we are stuck in this 2-party system of crapola?

They should also be standing up for OUR rights and not illegals. - When this country was in real-ville and

not Fantasy Island this statement would have been laughed at. But look how many of our rights are at risk now, among them the Second Amendment.

In NYC, the health dept. employees got a memo to - leave work and protest the Supreme

Court's immigration decision.

The city Health Department encouraged employees to leave work Thursday and attend a rally condemning the Supreme Court’s split decision to block President Obama’s immigration plan, The Post has learned.

An e-mail sent to DOH workers informed them of the City Hall event hosted by Mayor de Blasio and urged that they participate.

“Staff who are able to attend are encouraged to do so,” the e-mail read. “If you cannot attend, but would like to watch the rally, it will be live-streamed.”

State Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long said the e-mail went too far.

“It’s crossing the line. It’s a rip-off of taxpayers,” he said. “You shouldn’t be using city employees on the payroll to attend a rally.” NY Post

These are govt employees, and add to that using a government email account, network, and computer for political purposes. This used to be illegal. Does it matter? Who is going to prosecute them? Not Obama’s DOJ, that is for certain. So you see what we're up against? You'll be marginalized and demonized if you don't go along with it.

I will say the Brexit vote was refreshing and made me a little hopeful.

This is why the elites stay in power, too many goodies - thrown around.

The simple fact that a statement that they should be standing up for OUR - rights gets thumbs down speaks volumes.

This tells me the problem is mostly the people who elect these - elites. Politics is just a reflection

of the state of a nation. The problem is spiritual.

Let the thumbs down begin.

Globalist agenda. - Realist

The globalists laid out their plans decades ago in tomes like The Grand Chessboard (Brzezinski). Don't forget that he was Carter's National Security Adviser. But hey, who reads that "boring" stuff? People are more interested in the latest sci fi thriller.

Anyway, it was laid out clearly: Economies of the Western countries go down, and everything (read: Wealth) shifts to the Eastern countries (India, China, etc.). Massive immigration flooding is a pivotal plank in the platform.

What do we have today? This exact picture! America has practically zero manufacturing left, and the tech jobs are going East. The UN flooding countries with "refugees" (take a GOOD look at them and see how bathed, clean, and filled out they are! They do NOT look desperate or even hungry. Be mindful of PHOTOSHOPPED [e.g., famous "dead kid on beach" photo]) to overwhelm them is integral to this plan.

When you have a minute take a look at the UN Security Council's mural. It's beyond draconian; it's diabolical.

I agree with the concept of people power, but don't think - it would be an automatic kumbaya

because so many people in this country actually hate it and it's founding.

Where Have The Moderates Gone?Aug 20, 2015
This is my take, as someone who has lived a very long life (both my enemies and my heirs would say "Yes - much too long!") - and who has observed the political landscape for more than four decades:  We have come to the point that both major political parties have been hijacked by their radical elements, with the result that now there is virtually no possibility of finding any common ground, or achieving any sort of compromise. on most of the pressing issues that come before Congress.  ...

Moderates (liberals And Conservatives) Need To ReassertNov 10, 2016
I'm old enough to have lived during a period in which "liberal" and "conservative" weren't terms describing mutually exclusive political positions. They weren't polar opposites, and they weren't even necessarily adversarial. We had social liberals who were fiscally conservative, and vice versa. The political spectrum from liberal to conservative was a Bell curve, with most somewhere in the middle, and relatively few out at the fringes on either far end. Those in the middl ...

Conservatives And Moderates Will Clean Liberals'Nov 10, 2015
The liberal debacle in the most recent midterm elections foretell the outcome in 2016.   Note that during Obama's "reign of executive privilege", in which he has defied the very principles of the Constitution, more seats at every level of government have been won by the opposing party than in any two consecutive Presidential terms in American history. Trying To Look At Both Sides (WI Protests)Feb 19, 2011
Okay...so here is my thing.  I don't like unions.  I think that unions have used and abused union workers all the while saying they are there to protect them.  Union bosses have made outlandish salaries and are as crooked as the greedy CEOs who also make outlandish salaries. I understand that union workers in WI are ticked.  No one wants to lose money...just ask anyone in the private sector who has taken a pay cut or lost their jobs entirely.  It sucks and it isn&# ...

I do believe that we need to bring in more tax revenue.  I agree with the pres on that one.  However, I don't believe raising the taxes on the rich is the answer.  That alone still will not cover the amount of money we are spending.  I also think that the initial step in bringing in more tax revenue is to close loopholes in the tax code.  We are in major need of tax reform here.  What good is taxing the rich more when you have big companies like GE not paying A ...
