It's me again

Posted: May 29, 2016

I need prayer. I have to have both an upper and lower GI on June 2, Thursday. I have not received any instructions, so I again have to call that stupid office staff. The doctor himself called me a little after 6:30 a.m. one morning and asked if they had set me up for that yet and I told him no. I then heard from the nurse and she set me up and said she would mail me something. I am going to have to call tomorrow hopefully to see if they are there or not and if not will have to call Tuesday and probably get my own prep. I get so aggravated. People just forget me. I called recently because my hospital where I had a blood test for potassium didn't send it to my cardiologist. Well, have not heard from his nurse either. I think the devil is trying to get in the works. I still have these horrible hives and they really are hampering me walking at times. The Allegra 180 didn't work either. Nothing seems to work. Now I have to take time to try to squeeze in an appointment with either an allergist or dermatologist. I hope someone finally listens to me. I am sick of these doctors letting me suffer like this. I sure don't feel like anyone cares in the medical field. First time I have got such rotten care about something that is really beyond annoying and that I have had for about three months. ;

All good for consistent care - but...

isn't it about time you got different doctors??? If they never listen, rarely follow up on anything THEY plan for you, don't return calls (or initiate the ones they should), it's time to get a replacement. We were due to move to a new area earlier this year, hours from where we are. Because husband's health sucks (still) and his doctors are absolutely the best, we've stayed & will be here a few more years. There are doctors out there who are truly good people. I hope your area has some of those. It sounds like you need to find somebody who will first listen to the entire story, then set you up with the docs who will take care of you. A really good primary will only refer to other good doctors. Time for you to defend yourself! You won't regret it.

I got an appointment with an allergist for Monday - anonie

I am going to stay with my present doctors. The ones around here are not that good. Anyway, I got an appointment Monday to an allergist I have been to before. I am hoping she will help me with these hives.

My primary care does refer me to specialists, but I get really aggravated because he doesn't do any real exams. I still think doctor does better if he sees and feels the parts that are not normal like my hives, etc.

Thanks for your advice and I would normally take that. I did get another GI after the one I went to didn't really tell me anything that was true. He would not answer my questions and wouldn't sit still for me to do that.

I have my colonoscopy on Thursday. I had to call this new GI's office and ask about the prep. Then finally they sent it to CVS and I have that now. Ugh, it is awful and that is the worst about these two procedures, the prep.

ugh - prep

I had that many years ago. Not a good experience, but husband has had a couple of them with no problem. I hope they finally figure out what's going on. The constant frustration you feel is normal, but it's got to end sometime. Surely, doctors can "diagnose" something like that & fix it while they fix the medical problems.

Prayer for anonie - Believer

I think things are tough all over now days in finding quality people who are really dedicated to helping others in their work positions, whether it's just a simple thing you need help with over the phone to needing those highly skilled professionals whose hands you put your life in to take care of you, especially with medical procedures. People are just somewhere else, out of their minds, not focusing out there. I don't know what it is - maybe stress, no sleep, poor diet? But whatever it is, it's getting out of control. I've noticed it's very difficult to get any kind of customer service anymore without having to get tough and forceful with people in all service sectors, even in healthcare, especially when your life is on the line. You have to be 3 steps ahead of them, anticipating all the scenarios of what can happen and ask all the questions you can think of. But, you are right, there's a lot of "detached concern" out there, and that's what you're sensing from them. It happens to all of us. It's awful that we have to push and prod people to do their jobs, but we've got to do it because it's in our best interest to have a good outcome for whatever situation we're in. Above all, though, prayer is always the first line of defense. He will move mountains out of your way or He will help you to move those mountains out of your way. Believe it, expect it, see it happen...May God help you in your quest for better health and place the right people in your path for healing. Amen.

I agree with you believer - anonie

Yes, that is part of it. The other part is Obamacare and what it has done to Medicare. Doctors are being reprimanded for spending too much time with patients. I know my doctor didn't use to mind, but he is about in and out quickly. He listens, but must be that most don't do exams anymore because of this stupid time business.

The hospital here changes all of its usual things and no one bothers to tell us. Found out that is the reason for the tests not getting to my doctors.

They will soon have a computer thingie that they can access the system here to get the results. Called Doc to Doc. Started yesterday. Don't know how it worked. Nice if it doesn't crash. LOL. I still believe in hard copies.
