Sadly, anyone who thinks highly enough of himself/herself to run for president is usually the very person we do not need in office leaving the rest of us in BIG trouble trying to figure out who will do the least damage whiile we wait on someone else's ego to climb the ranks.

;

Money is a huge factor. nm - End Citizens United

[ In Reply To ..]
.

End labor unions and union politics, which are nothing more - than Democrat super PACs and

[ In Reply To ..]
a special interest lobbying group themselves.

Yes, let's end labor unions - old and burned out

[ In Reply To ..]
and go back to child labor and 14 hour work days with no benefits.
How does money from labor unions being donated to the - Demcrat machine have anything
[ In Reply To ..]
to do with child labor laws?
Because of the people that fought and died for labor unions - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
we have a standard 40 hour work week, laws against child labor, and many other laws protecting the middle class and the working poor. If there were never any labor unions things would be worse off than they are now. If medical transcriptionit's had organized into a union years ago, they would not be in the position they are now. There is power in numbers, even when you are poor.
Labor unions are WHY jobs are shipped out of the US - That is a fact!
[ In Reply To ..]
Whether MLS had a union or not, jobs would still be shipped to India. This is all about NAFTA signed off by Clinton. Ford had a union. They have a new plant in Mexico. Look what happened to car manufacturing in Detroit. In spite of unions, Detroit has fallen on hard times with massive unemployment.
NAFTA= North American not India - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Bush I had already negotiated and signed NAFTA draft. BILL Clinton did indeed sign the NAFTA Agreement, but it had already passed both the House and the Senate with a veto-proof majority.

It is about Corporate greed, not unions. The corporations like Romney and Trump have no sense of American patriotism and support of the American people. So sad.
The fact is, NAFTA was inacted during the Clinton - administration, no matter
[ In Reply To ..]
how one tries to spin it politically.
The unions could not protect AMERICAN workers - from corporate greed or corrupt government
[ In Reply To ..]
The unions did nothing to protect the American workers thanks to laws put in place by a corrupt government bought by corporations/special interests/big business.
Either you are for getting big money out of politics or not. That includes - unions as well as corporate lobbiest.
[ In Reply To ..]
Otherwise, it's pure politics.
I guess it's okay for big labor to donate to Democrats - for political purposes but
[ In Reply To ..]
not okay for Republicans. People can "rationalize" anything in politics.

Fact is, unions have been corrupt since the 1930s. My grandfather worked for Kroger back then and was in the Teamsters. Even then he got out because he said it was so corrupt.
Unions sold their soul to the Devil long ago. - Thank them for the high cost of cars
[ In Reply To ..]
and many other products.
Have you noticed, it's impossible to have a discussion about anything here? - Either you agree 100% with someone
[ In Reply To ..]
or else. Things didn't used to be this way.
This is not the 1920's and labor unions take member's dues - and donate to the Democrats.
[ In Reply To ..]
When having an intellectual conversation and not emotional, plus try to keep things in context.
Member's dues are used for many other things than - political donations. nm
[ In Reply To ..]
.
Members dues pay the people who run the union - AND political donations
[ In Reply To ..]
More corruption in unions and the government.
Union dues pay for...sm - VTMT
[ In Reply To ..]
salaries and/or benefits of full-time or part-time union leaders and/or staff; union governance; legal representation; legislative lobbying; political campaigns; pension, health, welfare, and safety funds; and/or the union strike fund.

Lagor unions used to be run by the mafia, now they are - run by the Democrats. Same thing

[ In Reply To ..]
I guess. Well maybe not, at least the mafia hated communists.

I quit voting. Who knows who is the lesser of 2 evils. - Voted for Obama once - what a mess

[ In Reply To ..]
Best you can do is find the least annoying person so I have to eliminate all the candidates.

Go off the grid as much as you can. We are headed for a US that looks - like socialist Venezuela.

[ In Reply To ..]
Take a long look at Venezuela now. Read the comments below. People WANT a nanny state without realizing the consequences. Subsides mean someone else is paying and it's not the rich. We are a couple years behind Venezuela. Our Supreme Court is corrupt, our executive is corrupt And our Senate is corrupt.

Example: Obamacare federal money was never allocated by Congress. Obama said "watch me" and did it anyway. Proving we are living in a post-Constitutional America.

Nixon got slapped down for NOT spending money Congress allocated. Obama spends money Congress didn’t allocate.

Hey, the bright side is if he can do it, so can The Donald.

Can't do anything if the highway is jammed with traffic or black lives - matter mobs, so I do believe in

[ In Reply To ..]
prepping and planning for future social unrest. The human wrecking ball we have as president has at least taught me that much.
And that's all he's been "good" for. - anon

A federal judge ruled that Obamacare is being funded unconstitutionally - Truthhurts

[ In Reply To ..]
House Republicans won Round 2 in a potentially historic lawsuit Thursday when a federal judge declared the Obama administration was unconstitutionally spending money to subsidize health insurers without obtaining an appropriation from Congress...

The Constitution says "No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law," Collyer noted, but the administration has continued to pay billions to insurers for their extra cost of providing health coverage.

"Paying [those] reimbursements without an appropriation thus violates the Constitution," she wrote. "Congress is the only source for such an appropriation, and no public money can be spent without one."

My Run Down Of The GOP CandidatesAug 20, 2011
After doing much research, I'm leaning towards Santorum.  Perry and Romney are nothing but democrats in disguise. As much as I like Bachmann, I just don't think a conservative woman has a chance. As much as I like Herman Cain, his lack of experience scares me. I'm on the fence about Ron Paul.  I like the way he stands on a lot of issues, but he stills come across to me as a little nutty and I don't know if he just doesn't present himself well or what. Any ...

Which Candidates Do You Like?Mar 01, 2014
It seems most threads begin with something or someone people don't like - I'm more interested in what/who you do like? :) I don't know of anyone on the horizon that would fit the bill, but I'd like to see someone who isn't a party puppet - someone that isn't afraid to step outside of party lines to put the country first, rather than party politics - but they'd lose financial support if they did. And let's not forget all those lobbyists' money they ...

Rich CandidatesFeb 02, 2012
I'm wondering why the talk is suddenly anti-Romney because he's rich?  If my info is correct, John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry had a net worth of about $750 million when he ran for president (along with 5 or 6 very luxurious homes) but it didn't make him look like a bad guy - just a rich guy.   In other words, at what point did it become a bad thing to be a rich presidental candidate?  Personally, I don't care how much money the candidate has.  I' ...

The Two Candidates And Their Agendas. Oct 30, 2012
The No Agenda Myth There are plenty of legitimate reasons voters (and the media) should be disenchanted by the  campaigns, but the idea that we’ll be voting in the dark is not one of them. Yes, the candidates have been reluctant to publish some unpleasant details of their policies. Most presidential candidates in modern times don’t, for the understandable reason that details can be cherry-picked for attack ads. Yes, identifying Romney’s plan requires some gue ...

Candidates' Deficit Plans Don't Add UpOct 01, 2012
As the government closes the books Sunday with a $1.1 trillion deficit for the year, which required borrowing 32 cents for every dollar it spent, budget analysts have little confidence in either presidential candidate's plan to address the accumulating debt, now at about $16 trillion. The Republican nominee promises to balance the budget in eight years to 10 years, but he also offers a mix of budgetary contradictions: higher Pentagon spending, restoring cuts that Democrats made in Medicare ...

Messages To Our Presidential CandidatesFeb 14, 2016
I believe every single American medical transcriptionist should contact all candidates running for president and inform them of our plight (competing with India for our jobs) as well as the fact that the majority of the American population is probably not aware that their personal and medical information could potentially be sent to India. Some of the candidates have talked about bringing jobs back to America, but none has mentioned this issue. Let's inform them. I have provided an alpha ...

At any rate, I have to think that she has some brain issues, such as remembering, etc. Is she going to let Billy boy govern and she is only a pretty bauble in her neverending pants suits. A demonstrably corrupt grifter versus an adolescent amateur.  This should be our choice? Does Anyone Feel This Way About Candidates And Our Elections, US, State Or Local?Sep 23, 2014
Gosh, I cannot understand why they have to spend so much money on elections. The thing is that if these candidates just stated their opinions and were honest with all of us, they'd get elected and re-elected. To me, this is a sick game politics and the whole issue of the problems in our country are not being addressed rationally and with any common sense. I think they need to educate kids on common sense in schools or otherwise we are going to have a bunch of really dumb kids who will repe ...

and throwing their hats into the ring for the upcoming elections next year, I decided to sift through the archives of this board, going back to 2008 election and up to Obama's inauguration.  It was interesting to read all the very heated posts on both sides of the party lines.  In January of 2009, the last thing I posted on the subject of Obama was: "Time will reveal King Obama's inexperience and shortcomings." It made me wonder, where are all those passionate Obama support ...
