IF you are trying to make burgers, make sure you squish and mold and pat the meat well before cooking, adding the ingredients you want to it. If you need to add some filler to it to help it hold together, like oats or crackers or fried onions, etc. Cook low and slow, only turning once. Hope this helps.

The best way to cook a 95% lean burger on the stove is to deep fry it. I'm just kidding. You will want to add something to make it not stick though, like nonstick spray or you will need to use butter or margarine or vegetable oil. It will stick to the pan and be a terrible mess. If you are no cook, throw in a package of onion soup mix and an egg and squish that all together. You'll be a master chef. :P

on a low heat, covered and flip the burger multiple times or brown both sides on a higher heat, lower the heat way down, cover and just cook with radiant heat and that will seal in the juices.

Now I want a burger. :)

Mix in a whole egg or an egg white before you cook the meat, oats and crackers will make it fall apart more without some moisture. Use some non-stick spray in the pan. For burgers, I like to use an indoor grill like a George Foreman.

I use frozen patties. I put them on a plate - in the microwave on 50% power - sm

for 2 min. 20 sec., and while doing that I spray olive oil Pam on a deep-sided cooking skillet and put the heat on very low to warm it up. Then I put the thawed and now partially-cooked patty in the skillet and turn the heat up a bit, browning on both sides and draining off any fat. This gives me the fastest cooking time, the least amount of spatter, and keeps the burger juicy while at the same time cooking it completely through.

For a special treat, sometimes a saute slices mushrooms in butter and then make a mushroom burger on an onion bun. YUMMM!

Add some nice, tasty beef suet. - :)

burgers and other suggestions - nn

One of the burgers that I have ABSOLUTELY fallen in love with are the turkey/jack burgers from Schwans. They are ground turkey with Monetery Jack cheese in them and sooo yummy!! I have an electric T-Fal Optigrill that I absolutely love and although I love to grill outdoors, living in Florida, makes it impossible with the heat and humidity to do so. Schwan's also has a "turkey minogon (sp) that is to DIE for. It is turkey breast wrapped in bacon, just like the beef version, but again, oh so good!!!

As far as my Schwan's dealer goes, if something is good, - they are sold out;they have it,

it is freezer burned. I really do not like this company at all. I keep trying but nothing but bad experiences since the 1980s on.

Sorry to hear about your experience - nn

The only bad experience I have had with them and it was recent, was finding a hair which was long and dark in one of my tamales. I went up the chain of command and not only did they replace the tamales, but gave me a $25 credit. I would call the main number and tell them of your concerns and ask to speak to someone in corporate. Again, i LOVE the turkey mingions and the turkey jack burgers!

They have also gone out of their way for deliveries. They were here a week ago Wednesday, it was POURING down rain and I really did not expect them to be here. I placed an order and the driver made a special trip here on Friday, because I was literally at "Mother Hubbard" stage.
Are you near a - Sam's?

It seems to me a lot of their products are similar to those sold at Sam's but more expensive. I am going to check out turkey products, but I don't usually care for processed meats.
No Sams here at all - nn

No Sam's near here (closest one is probably 50 miles away), but we are finally getting a Publix sometime this year. Schwan's guyy was here on Wednesday and no turkey mingions (they may be repackaging them), but I did get more of the turkey burgers. I still eat red meat and regular burgers, but I like the flavor of these. Put them on my TFAL Optigill and they are done in about 8 minutes or so.

95% is too lean for a - hamburger patty.

Most cooks will recommend no more than 80% to 85% lean meat to make a patty. The 95% is good to crumble up and use in things, such as chili or ManWich.

I Agree - see msg

Some foods need fat to be called something (burgers and cheese are 2 I can think of), so I agree. Use the lower fat content for things like crumbled skillet dishes or casseroles.

Salisbury Steak - with gravy

mix with an egg and some bread crumbs, cook some onions alongside to flavor, and then add some gravy at the end. You can use some low sodium or regular cream of mushroom soup for gravy or make some from a beef bouillon cube with flour or cornstarch and water. Add some mashed potatoes and corn. a little salad. Make enough for 2 days. Feeds hungry faces every time.

How Do You Cook Your Hamburgers?Dec 19, 2011
Today I was cleaning my George Foreman grill (I always wiped the plates after using, but today it got a good cleaning.  It needed it!  Boy what a greasy mess.), and the nonstick coating is flaking off after only about 25 uses.  How disappointing!  I never used metal or harsh anything or metal scrubbers on it.  Because it didn't last long I've decided NOT to replace it. So how do you cook your burgers indoors?  I have a water grill pan but have never ...

Does Anyone Cook With Seaweed? - Have A Question (or Two)Nov 15, 2011
I've been researching eating better for hypothyroidism and read seaweed is very good.  Learned all my favorite veggies (brocolio, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprounts and spinach) -   Anyway....I read seaweed is very good, which is good because I love seaweed soup when I've had it at the restaurant.  So my questions are this: 1.  Does seaweed expire.  I bought some maybe a year or so ago.  The dulse is kind of dry, but figure if it was going into a soup ...

How Many Times A Week Do You Cook Dinner?Oct 16, 2011
I was just wondering if people cook dinner every day of the week anymore?  When I was a kid, my mom made dinner every night except for Fridays which was "eat out" night.  Course mom was a full time mom and housewife.  Today's women generally work FT and are trying to do it all. I've been feeling guilty because I don't cook as often as I used to.  One of my daughter's friends asked me why I never cook dinner!  I do cook dinner, just not as much as mos ...

Poor Cook Here And Finally Have Found The AnswerOct 20, 2015
I got a Panini sandwich maker and it is so much more than that. Today for lunch I cut up some vegetables, squash, onion, zucchini, tossed with a little olive oil, a touch of salt and tossed that on the Panini. I love grilled anything and I am so happy to finally find a way, being as I have no outside grill, to get the taste of food that I enjoy. Self patting my back! ...
