supplemental health insurance

Posted: May 11, 2016

Anyone have supplemental health insurance because primary health insurance has too high deductible?  If so, do you like it?  Which company?  Is it expensive?  Thanks.

I'm having to drop my coverage because I can no longer afford it. I was just searching for alternative options and couldn't think what to call it to bring something up closer to what I need. Curious to see if anyone has any actual info.

Let you know - Rusty

If you qualify for Medicare... - Linda

I'm on Disability so qualify for this before age 65. I started the AARP Medicare Complete, Plan 2. It is like an HMO and there are NO PREMIUMS! I could not believe it. You have a $10 co-pay for your PCP and $50 for a specialist. It also has good hospital coverage. It is not a supplement to Medicare but replaces Medicare. They have Plan 1 and 2. The difference is 2 does not cover dental, while 1 does and Plan 1 costs $20 something a month. I hope you can qualify for this.

I do not qualify for M. But thanks, will keep that in mind if I ever do. The rep who was supposed to come to my house, kept bailing on me. He gets one more chance, and then I find someone else. I will still keep you updated. Thanks,

Health Insurance Is A Poor Measure Of Health Care.Sep 14, 2011
On Tuesday, the Census Bureau released its annual report on health insurance coverage in the United States. News media widely misconstrued the data and presented the problems facing the nation's health care system through a distorted lens. Many major news outlets made a basic error when reporting on the Census Bureau study. The Los Angeles Times wrote that "the number of Americans with no health insurance rose in 2010 to 49.9 million from 49 million the year before." But the figure c ...

No Health Insurance? Read This!Jan 12, 2012
For the past year and a half I have been sans health insurance.  Fortunately, I only have a couple of prescriptions that I take on an intermittent basis, and even those are generics.  Walgreen's has a "Savings Club" for those without insurance.  Normally enrollment costs $15 for a year, but this month only they have reduced it to $5 so I signed up. The club saved me $2 on today's Rx (meaning that the net enrollment cost for me was $3), and ...

Health Insurance Through EmployerMar 31, 2010
I wrote to my congressman here in Pennsylvania asking how HCR is going to help me with my specific situation. My premium through work is high, but I need it because my husband is self-employed. Virginia Says No To Requiring Health InsuranceFeb 03, 2010
Virginia's Democratic-controlled state Senate passed measures Monday that would make it illegal to require individuals to purchase health insurance, a direct challenge to the party's efforts in Washington to reform health care.   But the action in Virginia, a state that backed Obama in 2008, could indicate that the president is failing to reassure members of his own party that current reform efforts remain worthwhile. The votes also suggest that Democrats on the state level fear ...

Surprise: New Insurance Fee In Health Overhaul LawDec 10, 2012
WASHINGTON (AP) — Your medical plan is facing an unexpected new fee. It's to help cover people with pre-existing conditions under President Barack Obama's health care overhaul. The $63-per-head fee — buried in a recent regulation —will hit health plans serving an estimated 190 million Americans, mostly workers and their families. It's payable starting in 2014. Employers are not happy. The cost of compliance works out to tens of millions of dollars for the largest com ...

ACA Ended Health Insurance In America. The ACA's Ban OnNov 03, 2016
and its ban on pre-existing condition (“pre-ex”) exclusions means we don’t have health insurance any more. The ACA mandates that health plans enroll people with pre-existing conditions. That’s not insurance against a risk. That’s third-party financing of a known condition. The law also equalizes premiums for healthy enrollees and unhealthy enrollees. Both must be charged the same, regardless of health status. That’s not insurance either. Skyrocketing costs are the result. Peopl ...
