As a Christian, I find the "Biblical" appeals (demands) by

Posted: May 3, 2016

Jesus came to the world at a time when the popular Jewish understanding of "the Messiah" was as One who would intervene (supernaturally) in the governing affairs of men, overthrow the Roman overlords and establish God's Kingdom on earth.  In some ways, the Jews were expecting their version of the Muslim caliphate.

But the legions of God's angels weren't coming to rescue the Jews and establish a divine government.  Instead, Jesus said "My kingdom is not of this world."  He had not come to bring the Jews deliverance from the Romans, but to bring all mankind deliverance from a far more crushing form of slavery - enslavement to sin.

More than one Jew who stood at the foot of the cross, howling for the blood of Jesus, was one whose hope in Him as God's revenge against the Romans had been dashed.  They did not understand.

In our day, Beck does not understand Jesus, nor does Papa Cruz.  In fact, they seem to have gotten Jesus mixed up with Shimon Bar Cochba.

There is no passage to be found anywhere in the Bible that supports their contention, i.e. that Ted Cruz is God's "chosen one."  The Gospel of Christ is not the domain of any political party, nor of any political contender.  You will find as much of the higher, nobler liberal positions in the Gospel as you will of the higher, nobler conservative positions - and perhaps even certain socialist positions as well!  Placed side by side, you'd be very hard-pressed to decide which side God was on.

And in the end, you would discover that God isn't in that business.  If He were, could there have been a Hitler?  God doesn't belong to either party, and both parties have some moral claim upon our conscience in the voting booth.   This is one of those decisions that we're expected to work out for ourselves.

I am so bored by Cruz bible rhetoric and trying - to preach to us.

He is so condescending trying to teach bible principles as if voters were ignorant heathens. Loved it yesterday when he got all preachy with the Trump supporters and they one-upped him with everything he said. LOL. Now he is going out with more lies and spin about Trump. WWJD is my question for Ted.

If he is good enough to be president, why would he need to denigrate his opponents. That does not sound Christ-like.

And all the tricks and plots he has planned to win, telling Carson supporters Ben dropped out, his unholy alliance with Kasich, his pandering for women's vote with Fiorina - naming her as his vice president after he lost 5 states.

Seriously I see nothing Christian in Cruz tactics in his obsessive desire to be president.

Funny how "strict constitutionalists" like Cruz don't seem to mind - a bit of "non-separation" of church and

...if they think it will help them. Going into churches and selling themselves as "God's Messenger in this time of crisis."

They're a little squishy, these "Constitutionalists", when it comes to the First Amendment - and one would have good reason to be concerned that they wouldn't favor some weakening of its protections, at least with respect to some religions.

America was established, very deliberately and very specifically, as a civil government. Let's keep it that way. The Kingdom of God will come soon enough...or too soon for some, perhaps.

Eh. Stick a fork in him because he's done. - anon

#BlackLivesMatter Leader Robbed, Demands More Police Protection.Sep 16, 2016
I certainly don’t want anyone robbed at gunpoint. Not even to a local leader of the Black Lives Matters movement despite the Black Lives Matter movement having taken on an anti-police call to action. There is great irony, however, when such a leader then also calls for more police protection, as happened recently in Houston with Jerry Ford, Jr. ...

He did this during the 2011 legislative session at the peak of the 2011 Texas wildfires (April and May).   Now he's all about skipping out on the SC presidential forum to rush back to Texas to "manage" the wildfires, which he could have cared less about as recently as this past spring, claiming politics is the furthest thing from his mind.  Uh-huh.   Perry never was very fond of debates.  He even refused to debate Bill White during the last gubernator ...

Erin Brokowich Ad Appeals To Nation, Not Local LitigantsJan 24, 2010
Progressive push-back against SCOTUS campaign finance decision is a sight to behold.  The New York law firm prominently visible in the ad wisely chose their notoroius spokesperson to push for environmental law reform while attorneys quietly prosecute personal injury claims in the background. They managed to do this with 15-second cost effectiveness and  hit the ground running with a near instantaneous response to the birth of corporate freedom of speech.   Holy ...

Appeals Court Strikes Down Obama Recess AppointmentsJan 25, 2013
Really? You mean the courts are finally going to start doing their job? A federal appeals court said Friday that President Obama overstepped his authority with a series of recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board. The case may wind up in the Supreme Court and determine how far the president can go in appointing people whose nominations would be filibustered in the Senate. The result could affect the standing of other Obama appointees, such as the head of the president's ...

Appeals Court Refuses To Lift Hold On ObamaMay 26, 2015
A federal appeals court refused Tuesday to lift a temporary hold on President Obama's executive action that could shield as many as 5 million immigrants illegally living in the U.S. from deportation. The U.S. Justice Department had asked the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse a Texas judge who agreed to temporarily block the president's plan in February, after 26 states filed a lawsuit alleging Obama's action was unconstitutional. But two out of three judges on a c ...

Wikileaks: Hillary Camp Demands Shorter Speech Time After Learning No Lectern Will Be AvailableOct 20, 2016
If Hillary is too weak to give a 2-minute speech without a lectern to lean on, she has no business trying to lead this country for 4 years. Being president requires strength and stamina, 2 things she apparently doesn’t have. Electing Clinton as the next president would be downright dangerous. "This Isn't About Wallis Vs. Beck -- It's About Biblical Social Justice"Apr 14, 2010
This post was written in response to the Washington Post On Faith question of the week which they titled: "Wallis vs. Beck: The politics of social justice," Asking, "How does the pursuit of justice fit into your faith? Is 'social justice' an ideology or a theology?" I'm glad for the discussion, but "Wallis vs. Beck" really isn't the point. Over several weeks, Glenn Beck has attacked the term and concept of "social justice"; likened it to Marxism, Communism, and Nazism; told ...

Do We Really Believe Obama Is A Christian After This????Sep 18, 2015
Some of the things he does makes a lot of people wonder if he's really a Christian. Really - I thought everyone argued against separation of church and state; IOW, NO PRAYER in school is allowed, yet this was allowed. Why? Are the Muslims exempt from following that law? Or is only the Christian religious prayer not allowed?  This is another glaring example of the double standard in this country.Prayer vigil held for Mohamed, clock ‘bomb’ boy: What are they praying for? Solzhenitsyn: The Courage To Be A Christian...Oct 20, 2013
the power of secular fundamentalism appears to be on the rise and in which religious freedom seems to be imperiled, it is easy for Christians to become despondent. The clouds of radical relativism seem to obscure the light of objective truth and it can be difficult to discern any silver lining to help us illumine the future with hope. In such gloomy times the example of the martyrs can be encouraging. Those who laid down their lives for Christ and His Church in worse times than ours are bea ...
