Poll: Who is the more whiney profession: Nurses or teachers?

Posted: Feb 11, 2016

After the barrage of FB posts complaining that these superbowl football stars get paid millions yet teacher make (they say) peanuts i'm seriously annoyed.  2 year level RNs were previously the most annoying in my opinon, whining about pay when most make $20+ an hour yet have a terrible attitude, think they know more than doctors and the public in general.  Caveat: This does not include bachelors/masters level RNs.  For some reason it's the ones with the 2 year degree that are most snobby.  Anyway, back to teachers:  I actually saw one teacher complaining about not getting "overtime".  I posted that yeah that's what SALARY means, you don't get overtime.  Plus you get weeks off in the summer and at Christmas while the rest of us are hard at work.  Thank your lucky starts and quit complaining.  Some of us are making pennies for doing the same jobs we were making a comfortable  living on just 10-15 years ago.

So in your experience, who is the biggest whiney baby: Teachers or Nurses?

;

Right now I'd say you by far are whinier than any - sm

nurse or teacher out there.

Walk in their shoes before you criticize. - sm

I have 2 daughters who are specialized teachers with master degrees. To explain to you how they are over-worked and under-paid would take pages, and you probably could still not relate. Imagine having to take part of your pay and give it to the company/doctor you work for, not to mention the UNPAID "flexing."

Until you walk in their shoes, your opinion holds no credibility IMO.

That's easy - xx

to fix. If you want the salary and perqs you think nurses and teachers get, become a nurse or a teacher and get them for yourself. Whining about what someone else gets won't make your life better. If you want what they have, do what they did and learn to do what they do, then you can have all those perqs for yourself.

CNN Poll Shamefully Skewed. De-skew The Poll And It'sSep 11, 2012
The campaign to mislead the public, discourage conservative voters, etc. is underway, full bore. Do NOT believe ANY polls.  Think for yourself - and VOTE, regardless of any polls that might suggest that Obama has this sewn up.  The DNC had a disastrous convention and they're also trying to make that look like the best thing since conventions began. (You can tell from the desperation of his campaign strategy that HE knows he doesn't have it sewn up.) ...

Feds Target Doctors And NursesMay 15, 2013
89 people, including 14 doctors and nurses, were charged for their roles in various Medicare scams that bilked taxpayers of some $223 million through bogus charges, federal officials said Tuesday. How dare they go after health care providers for committing health care fraud?  Next thing you know the IRS will be targeting tax evaders.  ...

Update On New Profession ..... SMJan 30, 2012
Hi everyone, I am the one who posted a few weeks ago about going for the job with my State as a dispatcher. Good news!!!!! I had my polygraph today and I PASSED, lol. Yes, I was nervous, of course, because I realize that these are not 100% accurate but I decided ahead of time to just take a deep breath, be completely honest and it worked. I am so excited and hoping (with the way things are going) to be out of this field before the end of February (or earlier, hopefully). I believe that the ...

Another Update On New ProfessionApr 11, 2012
Well, it has been a month, short of 5 days, that I walked away from the medical field and medical transcription after over 23 years.  I have to say that it has been the best thing that I have done for myself and my family in forever.  The work schedule is a little screwy (dispatcher for law enforcement) but with no small kids and my husband already in law enforcement for 27 years, it has been adaptable for us.  The first week was spent becoming certified on state and national comm ...

Another Update On New Profession, I Am Out Of Medical Transcription As Of (SM)Feb 20, 2012
March 16, 2012. I went for the interview today, which went exceptionally well especially considering I have not had a "live" interview in over 20 years, I was offered the job on the spot and after explaining that I want to work a notice, I will start with my State on March 16th. I am so excited, if I could have started today I would have, lol. One of the huge concerns that I was having was the social anxiety that I have developed since I have been home. However, today I seemed to come out of ...

Does This Profession Make You Question Your Diagnoses?Nov 18, 2011
I find that I am not open to accepting dr. advice without questioning as I have worked many years in this profession and have heard a lot, a little knowledge is dangerous but has also aided me in escaping many "bullets." The latest was a diagnosis of atrial fibrillation and recommendation to be shocked into normal sinus rhythm and go on blood thinners for the rest of my life. I have said no to this as 1) I am afraid to be shocked, either by paddles or the T-method. 2) I am reluctant to go on cou ...

Doctors Will Be Leaving The Profession In DrovesJul 14, 2012
Doctors are threatening to leave healthcare due to Obamacare. Medicine is going to a cookie-cutter modality and PAs and NPs will be in the near future. Face it our healthcare is in the pitts because doctors are not allowed to treat anymore. The government will be your only healthcare. I am opting out of all this even if I have to pay a penalty. After age 59, you will get palliative care. It is basically a death care plan and getting rid of the elderly people and the very young because it c ...

Must be nice to earn those wages and benefits without a care in the world for the students they're hurting. Pennsylvania Teachers Get Training In Bowing To Jun 11, 2015
Fifty or so teachers and administrators with the Lebanon School District in Pennsylvania, including the superintendent, were just given a day of specialized training on Islam – at taxpayers’ expense – that wrapped with them hitting the floors of a local mosque, in the required shoeless fashion, and partaking of the faith’s call to prayer. Can you say what the –? Or better yet, how about imaging this “what if” scenario: Fifty or so teachers and administrators with one Pennsy ...

Matt Damon had some strong words at last Saturday's Save Our Schools march in Washington, D.C. Following his keynote address, the actor took offense to a Reason.tv reporter who contended that, as opposed to the environment faced by teachers in a tenure system, the lack of job security in acting functions as an incentive for hard work. Here's what Damon had to say: So you think job insecurity is what makes me work hard? I want to be an actor. That’s not an incentive. That& ...
