Dear Friend, I am truly concerned about your plight. I do not know where you are or if you are a woman or a man, but I will try to throw some ideas out--to see if something might help. I do not know your age, and only ask because if you are over 62, there may be extra options available. Have you contacted public housing authorities? You may well qualify for HUD or Section 8. Depending on the size of your city, there may be subsidized housing. Organizations such as Catholic Community Services, Salvation Army, etc. sometimes have options. In our city there are also homeless shelters which will allow people to say for a few weeks until they are back on their feet. For information about services, you might call a women's hotline or a domestic services/abuse center. (I am NOT saying you are abused; but these people often have lists of everything available in the city and could give you some guidance as to where to go on a temporary basis until things stabilize.) You might also try to get to see a social services coordinator at a hospital. They also have lists of options. A final option would be to ask at a police station. No, it is not a crime to be homeless, and many police officers will do anything they can to help the homeless community. A final option (again, I do not know your age) would be to call any aging services in your community. Even if you do not fit the profile to become a formal client, they might know of someplace that would offer shelter. Also, sometimes the YWCA partners up with organizations that help the homeless. Other, larger cities have the YWHA as well. You do not have to be Catholic or Jewish to utilize their services. Meanwhile, I have asked a friend of mine who is religious to pray for you daily. I am going to be having breakfast today with some legal colleagues and I will run what has happened by them to see if they have additional suggestions to offer. Are you willing to say what part of the country you are in? I am concerned about this because where I live, I can freeze just walking to the post office. I do hope you are not in some frigid place like this. Anyway, I am genuinely concerned about you, and if I find any other options, I will post them. Meanwhile, know that there really are people out here who care about you.

I am other poster. Waiting for response and - here is good place

If you are not in Calif., we could manage to get you here with Western Union.

No MT deserves to be on the street. If you have done this job for a career, you have earned the right to have a roof over your head. I am checking every day for your response.

Prayers - Rusty

I am sending up prayers right now. I truly pray you find a nice warm, safe place to live, and the help you need to get back on your feet. I hope you take one of these people up on their generous offer, and stay with them to get back on your feet. I truly hope and pray you find help out there. I wish you well. And please let us know how you are doing.
I truly hope - Nick

that the OP will let us know how she (or he) is doing. And most of all, I hope they can somehow get to a warm climate. Every year hundreds of people die on the streets in cold cities. If the OP sees this, I hope she/he will go to the nearest Salvation Army. They are amazingly helpful, no questions asked.
Rusty or anyone else - Nick

Has anyone heard from this homeless person? It is so darned cold where I live that I need a parka and a balaklava to walk a block. She (or he) has been on my mind every since I saw the original post. I did ask a friend of mine (who is in a convent) to pray for this person. I surely hope that someplace to stay was found. I have been thinking about this a lot. If anyone hears, will they please post?
I am sorry to say, I have not - Rusty

I have not heard from them since their original post. I pray all is well and they are somewhere warm and safe. I look at this at least twice a day hoping to hear something. If I get a PM I will let you know the status. Keep up the prayers and thank you for caring so much.

Streets Of Paris Now Thanks To Uncontrolled ImmigrationOct 14, 2016
Paris was beautiful when I was there 16 years ago. Now look at it - and it's not just what it looks like; it's about rampant crime, rape, etc. that goes with what you see here. Oh yes - it could happen here. Take a hike with your globalist friends, Hillary. In Paris, maybe, at 2 a.m. (Leave something that symbolizes your life for us to remember you by - like your Rolex, or is that counterfeit too?) ...

How To Treat A ColdFeb 12, 2017
I have tried this and it works: 1.  Place a hat at the end of your bed.  It can be any kind of hat. 2.  Get into bed and pull up the covers. 3.  Drink whiskey until you see two hats. If it doesn't work, it won't matter.   ...

Florida ColdFeb 19, 2015
At the risk of getting tomatoes thrown at me for those people in the north, here in SW Florida, we're not used to cold weather. It's 56 today, and going into the 30s tonight. I can't stop shivering. The heat in many of the homes is not efficient at all (it shouldn't have to be!), and our windows and doors aren't insulated. We have an open floor plan and high, vaulted ceilings, so heating it is almost impossible. And it's windy out so all the cold here is coming in t ...

Cold FeetJan 14, 2016
I am reaching out to my fellow MT's to ask what to do about my cold feet.  This time of year my feet get extremely cold while I type all day.  I have never typed in shoes, and really cannot because I can't feel the difference in the pedals.  If I wear shoes I end up backspacing or forwarding all the time.  I can wear house shoes with a very soft, flexible sole most of the time, but my feet freeze this time of year.  Any suggestions?  ...

Cold/virus Causing Vile Breath?Nov 23, 2010
On Saturday night, my boyfriend and I went to a friend's house for a pre-Thanksgiving gathering.  While there, I noticed that his breath was exceptionally rank (I could be standing 3 feet from him and smell it).  After pushing gum several times and him turning it down, I finally had to tell him his breath was terrible.  He chewed gum, but it never really got better. On Sunday, he started not feeling well...like he was coming down with a cold.  Yesterday, he felt worse. ...

Stop Hurting Your Engine By 'warming Up' The Car When It's Cold OutJan 26, 2016
Business Insider January 21, 2016 Harsh driving conditions in winter are already hard on your car, but you could be making things a lot worse if you're turning your vehicle on in the morning so it can 'warm up' before you drive off. If you're one of the many drivers who thinks it's important to idle your car — turn it on and let it sit — in these frigid winter months to protect the engine, you've likely fallen victim to a myth that may be doin ...

Any Tips On Using Cold Water To Defrost A 17-pound Turkey?Nov 17, 2011
I usually buy fresh birds, but opted for the more budget-friendly 39-cents-per-pound rock-solid frozen version this time  This turkey will be cooked before Sunday (hving an erly get-together), so I don't quite have enough time to defrost it in the fridge.  The instructions suggest submersion in "cool" water in the sink for 30 minutes per pound, with frequent water changes.  It has air-tight vacuum sealed packaging.  I'm thinking that changing the wat ...

Obama Says Strains Over Ukraine Not Leading To New Cold War With RussiaJul 30, 2014
This is the best quote I ever heard come out of the president's mouth, but the situation with Putin just seems be growing more worrisome each day. "It's not a new Cold War," Obama told reporters. Confederate History MonthApr 09, 2010
"Virginia's governor made "an unacceptable omission" by not mentioning slavery when he proclaimed it Confederate History Month, President Obama says." I think our president needs to look at the Civil War and the reason for it. The Civil War was not all about slavery. It was about State's Rights. I'll admit that slavery was a huge mistake and should not have been done.  However, slavery is NOT the most egregious stain in our history. Slaughtering the native inhabi ...

My Niece Was Arrested For DUI In KY Last MonthJun 10, 2010
My niece was arrested for DUI in KY last month and had her court date Monday. She was fined $800 and was supposedly told she could never step foot in KY again. Also supposedly the judge told her he was sending her arrest record to Ohio and Ohio would probably take away her driver's license.A) I don't see how someone can be prevented from driving through a state. B) I don't see how Ohio could take away her driver's license for an offense committed in Kentucky. ...

What Is Your Average Electric Bill Every Month?Jan 05, 2010
I am so frustrated. My electric bill "automatically" goes up $20 or more in the winter. In the summer, I pay $78-80. In the winter $100-120. I called the electric company and they told me it's because we're in the house more often because it's cold out.  I think they're nuts and just don't want to check out the meter. They also stated my appliances could be too old or the gaskets aren't tight (checked before I called and they are tight) and the well pump could ...

Grocery Bill Last Month Out Of This World.....Nov 07, 2012
