So, my parents divorced a few decades ago. Recently my dad signed up for Facebook, so I added him as a friend, obviously. My mom has also signed up for Facebook and wants me to add her also. NEITHER OF THEM wants me to add the other one - OR - their extended family. My dad has gotten really adamant about it. Maybe I shouldnt add either of them? argh!

[ In Reply To ..]Actually, once one blocks the other, the other can't see that one so only one has to do the blocking. Then, not only can they not "see" one another, they can't "see" one another's posts on your page, or each other's replies on other posts. It's as if neither one of them exists to the other. Blocking - one of the good things about Facebook!

[ In Reply To ..]OMG, I've been divorced 15 years. My ex and I text each other occasionally, not only about our children, but sometimes about extended family, etc.
We also call each other occasionally if things cant be discussed adequately through text. Maybe I learned from my parents being the way they are I don't know, but my ex and I are better friends than we were ever married.

Easy. Start a new "secret group" for - each side of the family. (sm)
[ In Reply To ..]On the list of "Groups" on the left side of the Facebook page, look for "Start a New Group". Click on that, and then you can make either a closed group or a secret group for each side of the family. People can request to join, and you hold the power to say who joins which group. That way you can communicate openly with each group, but they can't see each other. Problem solved! :)
