Have watched the show on TLC for the first time.  So his/her parents signed for her to start taking hormones at age 11 so as not to go through puberty?  JMO, but I would've let nature take its course.  Who knows, she may have decided she wanted to be a boy after all.  Any thoughts?  Edited to include:  I pretty much wanted to be a boy until I was 11.

Admittedly, the transgender concept is a little hard for me to understand at times. I too have been watching the show; however, I think her parents are extremely loving, caring people who didn't want their child to commit suicide because she thought she was all alone in the world. Jazz knew she wanted to be a girl at age 2, the thought didn't just come to her at 11. Its new territory for most of us, but I think she really, truly lucked out in the mother, father, brothers, and sister department.

I'm not sure I buy into the notion that a toddler - LCO

"knows" they want to be something else than what they are. How do they verbalize wanting to be the opposite sex? I think it's more of parents interpreting what they think their child wants based on the types of toys the child chooses to play with or roles they take on during pretend play.

I don't know. I'm just speculating. It is all very confusing and if it's confusing for me, it must be way more confusing for the child, the parents, etc.

It is a very thought provoking subject though. I truly believe that Jazz is truly luck to have the family she has. She certainly seems to be very well adjusted and that says something about her and her family regardless of where you stand on the transgender issue.

Now if you were to ask me to consider Bruce Jenner on this subject, I would have to say considering he has been part of a media whoring family for a very long time, I'm not so sure his "transition" isn't more of a publicity stunt.

How many times do kids say, "wow I'd rather be a boy than a girl or vice versa" especially when they see advantages going to one or the other sex.

I am distraught that they now want to make birth certificates without mother and father and refer to them as parent 1 and parent 2.

If we go on, we will sure confuse generations to come with this nonsense.

I feel for parents whose children really believe in their minds and hearts that they would be better off as the opposite sex than they are now.

It is a decision that needs to be made when they are older than 2 or 11. This really cannot be reversed with much real success but do know that one person did have it reversed.

I think we are all made what we should be, sex wise I mean. I have no idea what the Bible refers to as Eunics. Does anyone else?

A eunuch is a male who has been castrated prior to puberty so that secondary male characteristics don't develop. It was a barbaric practice in some cultures, and it wasn't voluntary.

I think it's all a bunch of hooey. - nm
