Let fiance drive new car to work on Friday and Saturday. Yesterday, we took it out to run errands. I noticed that someone he works with hit it. First major ding on car. Tried to buff it out but no luck. Now, I have a series of scratches where somebody drove up on the bumper. Of course, they did not bother to leave a note. People have no respect for other's property. He is now going back to drving the old car.
Whoever hit the car had to know they did. They had to drive up onto our car. Really? If you can't judge the length between cars, maybe you should NOT be driving. A lot of the people he works with are here on a work visa (being from Africa). Guess maybe they drive differently over there.
As this is probably the last new car I will ever have, I was trying to keep it nice. I am very careful about where I park. I usually park at the end of the lot next to newer cars.
As a frend used to tell me, "You can't legislate stupidity." Oh how true.

Just a Word - of Advice
[ In Reply To ..]If you want to keep something of yours nice.... do NOT, and I repeat, NOT lend it to anybody, friend, lover, family member, fiance.... nobody. Nobody cares for your possessions as much as you, or worked as hard for them. Be selfish. Do not lend out your car, or anything else, and most particularly money, because you will never get it back in the same shape you lent it out as. JMO.

I agree with the above. Do not lend out your things unless you do not care what condition they are returned in, or if they are returned at all.
I would also think twice about why your fiancee did not tell you about the accident himself, but instead tried to pass it off on "Africans."

When you are parked, do you walk around your car before getting in? I don't. He probably does not walk around the car either.
Camera in the parking lot showed a "black male" walking away from the car. In the process of identifying that person. From the location of the scratches, on the back bumper, told as I suspected that the other driver drove up on the bumper of our car. Hoping it "knocked some sense" into him/her to come forward but not likely.
I find some people just don't have respect for other's things either. It is true that no one else treats your possessions like you do. Sometimes it does not pay to have nice things.
An aquaintance had their Volvo stolen last Thursday night only to involved in several hit and run accidents as well as severe damage to it. Unfortunately, they left the keys in the car and their garage. Juveniles took it for the weekend. You would think their parents would wonder whey they had the car. Insurance will not pay for the car as the keys were in it. Dumb thing to do. I keep our cars locked in a locked garage, knowing full well if they want the car they will figure out how to take it.

This man is extremely poor in his driving skills, saw him turn right from inside lane, not the turn lane for starters. He is licensed to drive here and applied for and got okay to drive for Uber in a city in the US with millions living there. I know now I will never use Uber because if he is ok to drive then I know I am not safe enough using their service.
