Negative psychology of weight loss? - Nik
[ In Reply To ..]Subway Jared could be just another person for whom money and success means he is above the rules, but Subway Jared is no Donald Trump. I've wondered for a while about the negative aspects of weight loss itself based on what happened when I went on Optifast many years ago with a friend. We both lost a lot of weight. I consumed nothing but Optifast supplements for 3 months and lost 87 pounds. There were the typical good things with losing a large amount of weight, but even at the time I noticed there were some other things. I tended to be more demanding with others ranging from service people to friends and family. I was much less tolerant and didn't let things ride when formerly I would have. The weird thing was that the other people who had been on Optifast with me (and later in talking to other people who had lost a lot of weight) we ALL seemed to have the same experience. Some people thought it was that we had gotten our self esteem back and just didn't put up with things anymore, but I always wondered if that was it. I was told later that it was almost like I acted superior to other people. I don't think I did, but maybe I came off that way. Later, when I had gained all the weight back (shock shock), I was very disappointed in myself for not keeping the weight off, yet felt strangely more relaxed. Maybe the pressure was off because it is definitely harder to keep weight off then lose it. There must be some component of sychology/personality in weight loss that you don't hear talked about that much (maybe the sound of growling stomachs drowns everything else out!). I wonder if Subway Jared's long-term weight loss has made him feel superior and entitled. I'd be interested to here if anyone had an experience similar to mine.

[ In Reply To ..]searching Jared's house, I read a news report that stated when Jared was in college (and still overweight) he was running a porn rental business out of his dorm room. So clearly his deviant behavior dates back before his weight loss and any negative psychology that may or may not be attributed to it.
Sadly, where there is smoke there is almost certainly fire. When the story broke, I had a feeling that there was more to Jared than his feel good story of weight loss. The fact that the authorities were able to obtain a search warrant for his house suggests there was some sort of probable cause. Judges don't just hand out search warrants willy nilly!

[ In Reply To ..]having sex with the camera up every angle immaginable, to me is a little deviant. I am no prude and what two consenting adults do behind closed doors is their business. However, studies have shown that in many cases, a person who watches porn regularly can become addicted, requiring it to even become aroused. And generally what happens with most addictions s that eventually they will need more, more deviant porn which I think is the case with Jared. Am I prude for thinking that child porn is deviant?
