posts below about how unfair it is that cops shoot indivuduals who "make mistakes" like driving off when asked to stop and running when asked to halt. Why are none of these people held accountable for their actions? Most have had multiple interactions with police due to their life style choices of stealing, drug related activities, etc. Why this great sympathy? It is your low expectations of the law breakers? They needed crack and made the "mistake" of B&E? Do you want the cops to just let lawbreakers run/drive away when they chose to? Think it through.

By your logic, let's say your 17-yo son was at a party where there was under-aged drinking going on, or he was in a car with friends and there was alcohol in the car. The police come. Your son was/was not involved in the actual drinking, but he gets scared and runs. The cop shoots him in the back while running, or in the head before he gets the chance to run. Oh well, he was breaking the law or did not obey a command - he deserved to die?
There is too much "I feared for my life" going on. Too many videos of police brutality or actual murdering of suspects.
Yes, there should be sympathy for these law breakers. Everyone deserves a second chance. They should not be judged and sentenced to death before they even reach a courtroom.

I think a lot of these outrageous statements of "if they had just obeyed the command" are a desperate attempt at denial. They want to ensure that this couldn't happen to them, because they would always do the right thing. They just know they are better than that...that person must have done something wrong to have caused this to happen (other than just being black for instance). Honestly, I don't think race had much to do with shooting DuBose. It might have had something to do with stopping him. More of that will come out later, I am sure.

Remember Michael Brown who shoved the Stop and Go manager and then threatened the officer was first portrayed as darling boy dreaming of his first college day? This last guy had a bottle of vodka in his lap and 5 random children scattered throughout the greater Cincy area. Focus on the over-reaction of the individual officers rather than painting these people as innocent little victims.

Probably EVERY person confronted by the police is a criminal of some kind and is guilty of something. That is a given. No one is saying that whatever they have done is right. What they are saying is, criminal or not, these people do not deserve to be shot down like worthless animals. They should be brought before a judge in a court of law to be dealt with - NO middle ground. These are human beings.
