Three short INTELLIGENT sentences that sums

Posted: Jul 2, 2015

These three short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our
current government and cultural environment:

1.) We are advised NOT to judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.

Funny how that works. And here's another one worth considering.

2.) Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money but the second didn't.

Think about it.....

Last but not least:

3.) Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for
our military, and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII,
but we are not stopping payments to illegal aliens such as monthly
payments for each child, money for housing, Food Stamps, free
education including college and also the right to vote?

Am I the only one missing something?

This is what Obozo has caused. - Sam

I just hope and pray it's not too late for America. Our next president needs to be a true patriot, not some socialist commie hell-bent on destroying the fiber of the United States of America!

Obama's new motto, Got Fascism? Yes We Do. - The depth of this country

[ In Reply To ..]
shrivels by the day.

The Iraqui Kurds were reliable allies, but they no longer - have a reason to trust the US, we

[ In Reply To ..]
abandoned them and nearly let them be overtaken by ISIS.

Just one of countless disasters caused by the Obama administration.
And now BO refuses to arm the Kurds against ISIS. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Oops, I mean the JV team.
Maybe because NO part of the middle east can - be trusted with guns. You arm - S/T/M
[ In Reply To ..]
one group in that part of the world, and no matter whether they're considered "friends" to the US or not, sooner or later those same guns end up pointed at us. We should just butt out, and let them sort out their own, eons-old squabbles.
It makes you wonder what side O is actually - on. The Kurds have taken Christians
[ In Reply To ..]
that other nations have rejected. They are truly like a second Israel. No wonder O hates them.

Go Kurds!

I'm afraid 2 of your 3 issues are caused by - Republican policies

[ In Reply To ..]
#1 is very subjective. I personally do NOT believe that is true that we judge all gun owners by the crazy killers, but the statement is textbook NRA mindset to discourage anyone from discussing why in our country we die in multiples of other countries from guns.

Whatever the reason is, whatever the options, all discussion is off the table in this manner, cut off at the knees simply because the corporate interests want it that way, similar to climate change. It's a real pity. It deserves honest discussion.

#2 When you compare Social Security with welfare, it is not a fair comparison. What about "we constantly hear about how Social Security is running out of money" - from the Republicans, NOT the Democrats.

Social Security is NOT running out of money. All they need to do is raise the contribution level to $250,000 and it will be solvent forever, and why shouldn't those making more contribute more of their own money to their own retirement?

Why not ask why it's so easy for Republicans to enact tax breaks for big corporations without any plan or even mention of how that's going to be paid for before the welfare/food stamps are attacked yet again. The corporate welfare costs a lot more and why does it happen?

3. What party always cuts the benefits (and everything) for the veterans? The Republicans, that's who.

The illegal aliens again are not a real comparison. I doubt very much they are getting monthly payments, etc., it just does not make sense that that would happen, and Sean Hannity saying it does not make it true. In fact, those on Fox rarely seem to ever feel the need to back up their statements with facts in any way.

But back to the veterans, why do Republicans always cut the benefits and yet paint themselves as rah rah patriots? Again, to equate veterans with illegal aliens means they get the attention off why it is the Republican party doing the cutting of benefits. What does that have to do with illegal aliens?

Typical smoke and mirrors to get the attention off the important question why Republicans are the party of cutting veteran's benefits and threatening to privatize Social Security all the time.

It's easy for them and their mouthpiece, they just get people riled up about food stamps and illegal aliens. Don't fall for it.

Don't be afraid. - OP is due to lib policies.

[ In Reply To ..]
Maybe it's time for people to stop believing what the left wing propaganda machine is trying to force upon them. More damage has been done under this current president than at any time in the past. BO is going down as even worse than ole Jimmy.

Yet the Libs still act like Maytag and spin, spin, spin - Too many people are on to the

[ In Reply To ..]
destructive Lib/Dem failed policies and their left-wing extreme, knee-jerk ideology. Even the endless Lib spin on here rings hollow and so old. EVERYONE is onto their Saul Alinsky tactics.
Here's a "lib spin": We're going to go out and - enjoy the 4th, while most likely - SM
[ In Reply To ..]
it will be just another miserable day for all the unhappy and constipated right wing.

We'll be enjoying our freedoms. The right will be lamenting the fact that they can't take it away from us.
While enjoying the 4th, you might want to remember the reason - we even have "Independence Day"
[ In Reply To ..]
Independence from a tyrannical government, taxing everything. We started a revolution for less taxation than we have now.
Good to be alert July 4. Not like you can count on - Obama to protect you.

walking around. You're more likely to be struck by lightning or killed by a tornado than in a terrorist attack. I prefer to take my chances, enjoy life, and not worry about terrorists, tsunamis, sharks, crazy religious Christian people with guns, riots, earthquakes, locusts, car wrecks, antibiotic-resistant bacteria, GMOs in my Spagetti-O's, meteors, alien invasions, killer bees, or a zombie apocalypse. Life is just too short to worry about every scary thing in the universe.
I thought you Con folks didn't believe in revolutions. - And talk about a "tyrannical" government

how do you spell "R-E-P-U-B-L-I-C-A-N"?

Politics 101.
Revolution - Blanche
[ In Reply To ..]
"We started a revolution for less taxation than we have now."

We started that revolution for a range of reasons, among them taxation without representation. Today, we have ample representation. Well, unless you're from a Red state, in which case oil companies or large corporations have bought for your reps.

In any event, we have representation, and we also get one heck of a lot more for our money. Like standing military, a highway system, welfare, public education, and countless other benefits. So your "less taxataion than we have now" comment doesn't really play.

You must be a Democrat, because you seem - to criticize Republican policies

[ In Reply To ..]
in 2 of 3.

The gun control issue is one we revisit using the example of the lunatic, just to see if we can attract the appropriate attention to the issue. The "head in the sand" approach of NRA-gun advocate people calls for drastic example. Personally, I post every toddler that kills himself, his parent, his sibling. This is completely needless and needs better control.

Now the appropriate attention to the Muslim issue....well, it is so over the top already, we needn't draw any more attention to it. For most reasonable people they realize that being Muslim is not enough to indict one of illegal activities.

I have never personally known any Muslims to commit any terrorist attacks; however, I do know a child who killed his sister with a gun--Just sayin.

Why anyone would have such a dangerous instrument available is beyond me. I guess I just don't live in that much fear of my neighbors and community.

Thanks for bringing TRUTH to the board... - Maude

[ In Reply To ..]
and although at least slavery was abolished (at least the kind that's practice out in the open, anyway), not everything in this country has changed for the better, including the GOP.
Rational people don't believe the utter propaganda that the righties call "facts." - State the obvious
[ In Reply To ..]
Take the OP for instance, example 2. If someone actually believes that all people on Social Security worked for it or that all people who receive welfare or food stamps do not work, then they're the ones blinded by rhetoric that seeks to divide our country into classes of "takers and makers," also known as fear-and-smear propaganda.

When 60% of the people who receive food assistance are actually working poor and a large percentage of the others who don't work are children, the disabled, and retired people over 65, many of them veterans, it takes a special kind of spoon fed propaganda and gullibility/mass stupidity to obfuscate that truth. Naturally, it's easier to divide people by playing on the inherent fears and prejudice that already exists in others in order to perpetrate the incorrect and fabricated rhetoric.

The whole coordinated misinformation campaign is why righties criticize education and fact checking and call their gullible viewers "insiders" and tell them constantly that they are in a special group where they are the only ones that know the truth. LOL

And I pity those who think allowing wealthy - CEOs to call all the shots - S/M

[ In Reply To ..]
in this country is somehow trickling down to benefit them personally. And THEY are the ones always talking about "drinking the Kool-Aid!"

ROTFLMAO

Yeah, I think you could be missing something - nm

IMO, that was neither three short sentences nor the least bit intelligent. - State the obvious

[ In Reply To ..]
In false example 1, the poster complains about being asked to judge ALL people in a certain category a certain way, yet in the poster's example 2, they turn around and ask you to accept the premise that all people in a certain category should be judged the same.

As far as example 3, I am a veteran and keenly aware of the cuts. Republicans are the ones cutting the budget. Many of my fellow veterans are finally catching on and have defected to my party in the last few months. They're admitting to me that they finally realize that it's "lip service" and "flag waving patriotism" on the GOP side while the majority of Democrats have been working for us to keep our benefits from being slashed and hacked to death by the Cons for quite a long time now. Bush constantly proposed cuts, Obama funds the VA in advance, and today Republicans in Congress are asking for a $1.4 Billion cut to what President Obama has asked in the budget for veterans. Finally, the veterans are catching on. :)
