Polygamous Montana trio applies for wedding license

Posted: Jul 3, 2015

A Montana man said Wednesday that he was inspired by last week's U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing gay marriage to apply for a marriage license so that he can legally wed his second wife.

someone to apply for a license to marry their dog or their donkey.

Nothing would surprise me with the liberals anymore.

Yes, indeed, that makes perfect sense. - sm

Polygamy and marriage to animals are sweeping all the other countries where gay marriage is legal, including such places as Canada, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, South Africa, Spain, Portugal, etc. Yep.

Just like nothing the conservatives dream up - to make their point surprises me.

They've gone beyond weird and whacked-out, to just plain pathetic.

Animal marriage - Blanche

[ In Reply To ..]
Are you suggesting that dogs and donkeys have the ability to give consent to enter into a legal contract? Because they don't, you know. Since marriage is a contract, animals cannot and won't ever be able to legally be married to a human.

Why are some conservatives so enthralled with the idea of people marrying animals? Do they not understand how absolutely silly they look every time you make that kind of claim?

Or is it that they have some secret desire to be wed to their pets and livestock? After all, how many times have we seen some rabidly anti-gay Republican get outed as gay himself?

Once marriage is redefined as other than between a man and a - woman, how can anyone be

[ In Reply To ..]
denied whomever they wish to marry? Justice Scalia addressed this.

So sick of the disaster this country is becoming - me

The US is becoming a travesty of the worst kind.

The US is a travesty because of all the Cons' - ridiculous doomsday phobias.

Don't I know it! It really sucks when other people are given the same rights that you have!
Got it, the strategy is to misrepresent and name calling. - I agree, this country has become

a travesty. I can't image what it will be in a year.

I'm going to read the Declaration of Independence today. In just a short 239 years we have changed so much.
It's a good thing the country has changed a lot - in 239 years. Would we really -

want to be living the same as we were back then?

Support is growing for states to ignore the - federal courts. nm

So what? Although I would personally not want - to share my husband with others, -

[ In Reply To ..]
if some people want to live that way, and as long as it's not hurting anyone, what's the big deal? Although I don't want to be a polygamist myself, that doesn't give me or anyone else the right to tell someone who wants to be that they can't.

So, you don't think this would be hurting impressionable children who witness such immorality? - Truth

The immorality we see every day in right-wing - politics is more likely to -

[ In Reply To ..]
harm impressionable children than allowing people to marry whom they want to.
The mess on the dress was right-wing? Clinton Corruption Machine - right wing?
[ In Reply To ..]
If a liberal politician should ever wish to learn the definition of immorality, the easiest way would be to look in the nearest mirror.
Reagan's trickle-down economics - right wing. - Bush #1 war in Iraq - right wing. (sm)
[ In Reply To ..]
Bush #2's war in Iraq - right wing.
Nixon's Watergate - right wing.

All Repubs' pandering to corporate influence - right wing.

Those things harm our children (and all of us) in far more ways than any left-leaning politician has ever done. Nice try, Pubs, but no amount of fantasy-spin can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Immoral? - Blanche

[ In Reply To ..]
How is polygamy immoral? Certainly it isn't immoral from a Biblical sense.

God speaking through the prophet Nathan to David:
"And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things."
2 Samuel 12:8.

Note: *wives* plural. Given by god.

Uh, I do not define morality according to the bible... - Truth
[ In Reply To ..]
I define it in terms of integrity, honesty, and loyalty. Polygamy, to me, is the antithesis of these attributes.

Plural marriage - Blanche

[ In Reply To ..]
I personally don't have a problem with it either, so long as all participants are of legal age and freely consent to it, plural marriage certainly doesn't harm me in any way.

I imagine there would be some complex contractual issues that would have to be hammered out. Like which sister-wives (or brother-husbands) would have rights to make medical and legal decisions on behalf of the other(s) and so on. And the taxes might be complex to work out.

But from a rights perspective? Sure.

As in the Bible. - sm

This poster said: "You knew this would happen."

Oh, please. This is nothing new. A lot of people still practice polygamy according to their religious beliefs as Christians. It is not remotely a new phenomenon that people have been suing in courts for centuries to obtain their right to polygamy based on religious freedom.

Their Christianity has been under attack for quite awhile now. Polygamy is in the Bible and not a new concept. Why do other Christians want to redefine their beliefs?

to own guns. This kinda blows the argument that stricter gun control will curb murder and mayhem.  The younger one wasn't old enough to own or buy a gun. The older brother never applied.  He probably wouldn't have been able to lawfully own a gun anyway because of his previous charge in 2009. They didn't have assault weapons, either, so that blows another argument. Get mad all you gun control posters want, but facts are facts and it's something I've been trying ...

Pagan Priest Wins Right To Wear Goat Horns In License Photo,Dec 17, 2016
It doesn’t matter how many articles of clothing Phelan Moonsong puts on before walking out the door each day: If he’s not wearing his favorite pair of goat horns, the Pagan priest might as well be naked. Unless the 56-year-old Millinocket, Maine, man is sleeping or bathing, his beloved horns are rarely far from his scalp. It’s been that way since he first laid eyes on the horns at a Pagan men’s group gathering in 2009. A friend whose goat had recently died offered the horns to gr ...

Talk About Saving Money On My Wedding...Oct 15, 2009
Well, yesterday we went downtown to get our license and our excitement got the best of us.  We ended up having the ceremony performed on the spot and walked out as husband and wife, lol!  Total cost was $79, as compared to the approximately $250 I had managed to shave it down to by having the wedding at our apartment.
