One is too many-- wrongfully convicted

Posted: Jun 30, 2015

The attorney who convicted him now opposes the death penalty (although it would have been no better for him to have convicted and served time for a crime he did not commit). State of Lousiana gave him $20 for a bus ride home and absolutely denies any further compensation for wrongfully convicting him. He died of lung cancer 16 months after release. Perhaps changes in the system where attorneys (particularly prosecuting attorneys) are not chalking up victories to further careers and there is some room for admitting error and reopening of cases with new information. The system as it is, it takes moving Heaven and Earth to obtain new trial or inject new information, even when it is completely obvious to pretty much everyone involved that it needs to happen. yeah, I know, everyone in jail is innocent...and the saddest part is, some of them really are.;

I used to be in favor of capital punishment. But an examination of the number of men who have been on death row only to be exonerated - often due to nothing but the considerable efforts of organizations outside the justice system - caused me to reconsider.

The fact that so many Americans are still so enamoured with the death penalty, especially those who call themselves Christians, after so many of these cases have come to light is baffling to me.

We are still far too bloodthirsty as a nation. Hopefully we'll grow out of this phase soon, and leave such barbarism to despotic third-world nations.

Just wondered if she did have money (where will she get money or employment for that matter is another question) to move out of the country to avoid 3 lawsuits will another country accept her as a convicted felon?  Sure hope Casey and her attorneys have made plans for her residence, employment and ongoing income after they fought so hard for her freedom.  Time will tell just how well hidden a notorious person can be with all the modern technology out there to exp ...

PA Attorney General Convicted Of Perjury, Criminal Aug 20, 2016
Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane resigned this week after a jury found her guilty of perjury, criminal conspiracy, and several other criminal charges relating to the abuse of her position. Gun owners will take particular interest in this conviction, as during her tenure as AG Kane repeatedly demonstrated a marked hostility to the rights of Pennsylvanians, evidently while displaying a personal disregard for the laws she was tasked to uphold. Kane’s criminal conviction was the ...

Why Are Convicted Felons And Repeat Offenders Rewarded With Billions InNov 19, 2012
Why aren't conservatives outraged over the deaths of 15 Texas City BP refinery workers, another 11 in the Gulf of Mexico, and the environmental catastrophe in Alaska's oil patch, long since forgotten by now....all due to willful gross corporate negligence? Don't they realize taxpayers are on the hook over the next 5 years for the record 4 billion in fines and penalties that BP will be paying out of proceeds from only ONE measly defense contract, by no means their only US defense ...
