Funny, the difference between Charleston's response to the church incident

Posted: Jun 23, 2015

Wonderful how the community came together - people of alll races, political persuasions, etc.  After Ferguson, etc., it was the most amazing display I think I've seen of this type in a pretty long lifetime.

Here, the incident has been used as an opportunity for hateful political posturing.

And, incidentally, let's be real honest.  Anyone can call themselves a conservative, a liberal, or a liverwurst sandwich, but that doesn't make it so.  Roof wasn't a conservative in any real sense of the word, and you all know it.  Indeed, it's highly improbable that he could have accurately articulated the conservative position about racial integration, much less any other significant social, economic or geopolitical issues.

Can you articulate the conservative position with respect to racial equality - in your own words, without pasting in some ignorant spew that anyone can Google up?  This should make for some delicious reading.

I know Glenn Beck and his charitable organization Mercury One helped - out. He always tries to bring people

together, unlike the way things are portrayed here.

The left has a new card, the guilt card. It gets played a lot - now. White guilt. NM

Okay, "let's be real honest" about "hateful political posturing." - sm

If a foreign terrorist had gone into a white church in America and killed 9 people, what would conservatives on this board be saying? I think Benghazi x10 would be about what they'd be spewing right about now and blaming Obama, Hillary, their voters, actually not much different than we see on this board on a daily basis.

The fact that it was a domestic terrorist targeting blacks and espousing right-wing rhetoric makes it no less terrorism than had it been a foreign terrorist.

You reap what you sow. It's a simple concept, really, but now conservatives want to point fingers and whine that the guy who killed 9 people espousing the political hate spew and propaganda that their ilk has been spewing over the last 8+ years is not actually one of them.

Pardon me while I catch my breath from laughing, but a lecture from conservatives on "hateful political posturing" after their political rhetoric and propaganda repeated daily on this board is side-splitting comedy, in my opinion.

Good luck with yet another attempt to whitewash history; you'll sure need it.

Q.E.D. You couldn't have proven the OP's point more strongly - if you tried.

Wow.

Q.E.D. The Charleston terrorist couldn't have proven the righties' points more strongly - if he tried. - So there's that!

[ In Reply To ..]
By his own definition, the terrorist was a conservative race hater, and by his own admission, he was trying to start a race war by killing black people. Why is it that the last thing conservatives want to do is to jump to conclusions to make a racist hate crime about race, even when the confessed murderer is telling us that's exactly what it is about?

One of the righties' ilk went on a terrorist killing spree after writing a manifesto that sounds just like the rhetoric their ilk spews on a daily basis on chat boards and blogs all over the Internet, but now the righties want to disown him and blame the lefties for failing to ignore what the righties spew out daily and for recognizing what the killer said as being the exact same mindless drivel and for believing the killer is exactly who he said he is and doing exactly what he said he did for exactly the reasons he said he did them.

We lefties are used to being hated by extreme righties for not hating the people those righties hate. The extreme righties even hate the establishment righties for not agreeing with their extremist agenda of hate, and we lefties get along with the establishment GOP in a way the extreme righties never have and never will.

Whooooooooooooooosh.

That's the sound of the establishment GOP taking down the traitor flag of the extreme righties. And so it begins.

Charleston Church Victims' Families Forgive RoofJun 20, 2015
I wasn't going to post or comment this weekend, but on this stormy Saturday, I just listened to some of the most powerful words from the families of the Charleston victims.  They said: "I will never be able to hold her again, but I forgive you," a daughter of Ethel Lance said. "And have mercy on your soul. You hurt me. You hurt a lot of people but God forgives you, and I forgive you." Felicia Sanders -- mother of victim Tywanza Sanders and a survivor of the church shooting herself -- ...

Don't Even Know What To Name This - MSNBC IncidentNov 30, 2009
I don't even know how I came across this.  Some link off of a link someone posted below.  This goes to show why I will not watch MSNBC.  It was an interview of a 17 year old girl at the booksigning of Sarah Palin.  The first article is about how Nora O'Donnell arrived at the book signing with prepared notes to try to challenge Sarah Palin fans (why would anyone want to challenge people waiting to have a book signed by Palin - this is not an election, it's a boo ...

Illinois Sate House On Lockdown After "White Powder" IncidentJul 06, 2017
The legislature is stuck in the State house, at least those that got there before the incident. Other legislaters are locked out. Supposedly they were to vote on a budget today? Only one station was reporting it. MSNBC reporting on the G20 protests and CNN reporting G20 protests and that "the president whipped through and didn't see a thing." Now they're reporting on the meeting with Putin.Guess nothing that goes on in this country is relevant.  ...

Would You Walk Up To Someone At Church And Jun 28, 2011
tell them they are inappopriately dressed?  My 15yo niece has gotten involved with a teen group at a local church.  She's a very nice girl and my brother does NOT let her dress provocatively.  She does have quite a little figuring happening though.  Let's just say she has been blessed. She started going with this boy at church who is being raised by his grandparents and his mother.  Basically, the grandparents are raising him and it is quite clear that they ad ...

I Gave Up Going To ChurchMay 31, 2013
I used to be an avid church-goer. Catholic, back when you went into a confessional to confess what you felt was a sin. Then one day, the priest (in all his glory) during a mass said, "I forgive you all for whatever you have done." That really got my goat. You didn't even have to feel bad about whatever it was you did, you were just now automatically forgiven, in one big swoop. I knew people in that church that were horrible to their children and spouses. So, I just knew that they went to c ...

Westboro Church WinsMar 02, 2011
It was an 8-1 vote - I think Justice Scali was the lone dissenter, but I'm not 100% sure. I salute groups like The Patriot Guard Riders who protect the families of these fallen heros.   From CNN: A Kansas church that attracted nationwide attention for its angry, anti-gay protests at the funerals of U.S. military members has won its appeal at the Supreme Court, an issue testing the competing constitutional limits of free speech and privacy. Separation Of Church And State....Apr 27, 2015
I agree that the government should stay away from religion - therefore, it follows that the government should not be able to tell me how to practice my religion - if my faith follows the teachings of the Bible, then I should not have to pay for abortions since I  believe that to be murder.  It should allow me to refuse to photograph a gay couple - since that goes against my beliefs.  The government has no problem with me giving money to the poor, helping out with relief in Haiti, ...

I Just Love Westboro Church. Got An Idea.....Mar 12, 2011
Since it's freedom of speech for them to protest, let's take the union protestors, since they like to protest so much, and send them to WBC and let them protest for as many days and weeks they did in WI. (I"m kidding, of course). Do you think if a group protested outside their church, standing 1000 feet away from them, that it would be considered freedom of speech?  This makes my blood boil. Westboro Baptist Church ProtestDec 12, 2010
Thank heavens most of the media did not cover this. They are vile, ignorant people. It's bad enough they protest soldiers funerals, but now they were protesting Elizabeth Edwards death! HHS Bankrolled Catholic And Baptist ChurchJul 13, 2014
A month or two ago news broke that Obama’s HHS was calling for private contractors to help transport illegal aliens throughout the interior United States. What made this already big news even bigger is the fact that the original call for proposals came out in January, long before the bulk of the illegal alien surge began. The breaking news you’re about to read is ten times bigger, because the following proves the Obama administration was bankrolling America’s churches back in 2010. And ...
