I've got some really RADICAL ideas about abortion. - Liberal AGAINST abortion
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't like abortion so I've never had one and never will, but I don't remotely expect everyone to agree with me nor will I try to shove my religious or political beliefs down everyone else's throat.

Don't like abortion? Don't have one.

Liberals celebrate the end of capital punishment and - also celebrate the

murder of unborn babies. I really don’t understand liberal logic.

Here, let me help you. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Thou shalt not kill.

Liberals don't "celebrate" abortion; that is a fabrication. There are a lot of liberals, like myself, that are actually against abortion for religious and other reasons.

But liberals are also the kind of people that don't try to legislate our religious beliefs onto other people that may not necessarily agree with us. Someone else choosing abortion is making a choice that I would NEVER make, but I respect their right to make choices that may disagree with my religious beliefs because I believe in the separation of my religious beliefs from my country's very diverse population with many different religious beliefs.

When the war mongering conservatives agree to outlaw death through nation building and outlaw sanctioned death by the state or the federal government, then I will believe they actually do value life.

Agreed. That would be me valuing my life. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
But I disagree that nation building is self protection--for instance, going into Iraq in order to stop a "mushroom cloud" or all the talk about going into Iran. War is big business and makes people lots of money. War in the Middle East is about war profiteering and control of oil supplies and not really "the bomb."

If we wanted to attack a country over nuclear weapons versus oil, we got North Korea sitting there that is much more a threat..... so never let the fabricated pro-war rhetoric about WMDs fool you.

Perhaps actually knowing libs or left-leaning libertarians (like me) would help vs. letting Fox News - dictate who we are~Julia Sugarbaker

[ In Reply To ..]
The idea that most lib/left leaning women are "for abortion" is a myth - but there are certain situations we haven't been in ourselves that we could understand why it might become necessary for others - rape, incest, certain harm would come to mother or child or both - mostly for the child who had no choice, if it would have constant struggle to live, because I believe in the right not to suffer (see below).

Like I was saying under another thread, I find that many conservatives (that I HAVE known personally) find it difficult to empathize with others if they haven't been in that situation. Not all, but many.

However, abortion - like gay marriage - is where you'll see my libertarian streak come out:)

I actually consider myself a left-leaning libertarian - which means I do not believe either abortion or gay marriage should be addressed by our government system by law either way. Those are private choices based on religious beliefs.

As for the death penalty, I am not sold either way, for or against the death penalty, I'm just really glad I'm not the one making that decision. I think what if there was just one person where we got it wrong and they really weren't guilty? In fact, there have been :(

I don't trust our current justice system enough to get it right I guess. Our justice system needs work, it's often the best justice money can buy, these days, and typically those in death penalty trials don't have money (which is a good thing, in a way, so they can't cheat, but a bad thing if they're really not guilty)

But I am for euthanization in situations for people with ALS, etc., and are just suffering horribly. I believe in the right not to suffer, we're kinder to our pets in this way.

It's cruel not to, but it depends on the situation. This is where I don't get many on the right, who say never pull the plug.(Again, not all, but most). Any righties that believe that care to explain?
I'm creating a new term, playing the Fox News card. - It seems to be a way of

Suit yourself, your missed opportunity to surprise yourself at finding common ground. Why even bother responding then?

However, you really can't blanket-generalize libs anymore if you refuse to even read what they really have to say because they hurt your favorite news program. Whatever you need to not read so you can keep believing nonsense, I guess.

Your choice to continue to live in a bubble and only surround yourselves with that support your way of thinking as superior and continue objectifying other people rather than get to know them. That doesn't keep us polarized as a nation or anything.

As for the Fox News thing, don't blanket us and we won't blanket you, alrighty?

PS - The "my precious" reference in the author field was a Lord of the Rings/Gollum reference. Seriously, it's not that precious. It's not a part of you. Let it go a little

Let's get back to the actual issues then. Otherwise, I have no further response.

Because I stop responding for two reasons: When I believe people are just trying to annoy or when I began to suspect people are lying about their identity again.

I have NEVER heard anyone celebrate - an abortion

[ In Reply To ..]
There has been some amusement at escorting people across the "bible lines" to obtain the medical care they have a legal right to obtain. Around here, of late, it has been Pap smears, well women exams, birth control....but we did just get a new doctor and will be performing abortions soon. Then people will not have to drive 500 miles to obtain medical procedures they have a legal right to also.

It is between them and their God as to whether it is a morally correct decision. You cannot legislate morality.

As for me, I would help anyone, just as vigorously, perhaps more vigorously, find their way emotionally, financially and logistically to an adoption situation than an abortion, but these are not puppies we're talking about here. There is a lifetime commitment. Anti-choice people don't seem to have much aftercare concern or answer for that end of things.

It's the voting system there, non-partisan elections - for the unicameral state

PSU Did Not Get The Death Penalty BecauseJul 23, 2012
The NCAA says the Death Penality does not fit in this case.  The FOOTBALL TEAM would have to be guilty of crimes committed while on probation.  The FOOTBALL TEAM did not commit any crimes.  Current and incoming football players are released to play at other universities if they so desire, or are now "free agents."  I so agree with this.  It is a shame that they will feel the affects of the punishment to the university, but there is no getting around it.  It had to b ...

Why Are Supporters Of The Death PenaltyOct 01, 2015
I know the system can be flawed. I know sometimes the wrong person is convicted of stealing, or whatever. But, when the penalty has escalated to the death penalty, any doubt, any evidence, no matter when it is found, nothing matters, it all should be considered and we should never put a person to death if there is any doubt at all. So many seem so eager and interested in the process that the actual cases do not really matter. This is such a vengeful society, at least when it suits. ...

US Execution Capital Reconsiders The Death PenaltyDec 06, 2010
New York - On Monday, Dec. 6, a district court in Texas will be asked – for the first time in that U.S. state's history – to decide whether the death penalty is unconstitutional based on the "disproportionately high risk of wrongful convictions" in Texas. He has not yet been convicted, but prosecutors say they would seek the ...

Do You Think Penn State Football Program Should Get The Death Penalty?Jul 16, 2012
Haven't made up my mind.  I see both sides of the argument.  First of all, so very many people will suffer who had nothing to do with the child sex abuse cover-up.  In reading arguments for and against, perhaps it is true that the persons responsible and or involved in any way should be fired, jailed, labeled as sex offenders, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP, and the football program should remain intact, as it is not fair to punish the ...

Obamacare: Penalty On Top Of PremiumJan 27, 2013
