For claiming he was solely responsible for the "crushing sanctions for Iran."

Whew, they have some superegos and can tell some whoppers, can't they?

Leviticus 18 is very clear on this kind of behavior. - Most Christians this is wrong.

Yes, many are hypocrites. Jesus focused on the leaders and teachers who should be held to a greater standard.

Atheists are moral free riders. They depend on others to have a Judeo-Christian morality that they shirk. That way they can make fun of them when they fail. The last thing they really want it to live in an atheist no-moral society.

Funny how they all love Pope Francis when he spouts communistic aims. We call him Pope Che at my house. He has disappointed many of us Catholics. Look how rampant pedophilia is in the Catholic Church.

Not sure how everything mentioned is relevant to the OP, but thx for the OT scripture. Skipped - the NT on the other? (edited) I Tim 6:3-10 JS

Your author name states "most christians", but I'm a Christian too, and I said below that it is unfortunate all Christians and all Republicans have to answer for a few bad eggs and I included the Catholic situations in my comment.

I agree with the Leviticus scripture regarding incest, of course, but may I also say I don't care much for the "holier than thou" insinuation/attitude tacked on to that comment, which is that if people don't also agree with your politics and opinions on Pope Francis, they're not Christian or even communist? (Not to mention Pope Francis, who is Argentinian, has just been the pope for 2 years. Pedophilia existed long before that in the American church, so...?)

Last time I checked, Christians weren't supposed to be judging other Christians based on political works like a bunch of Pharisees (Matthew 7), and if counseling someone within the church is necessary, that is to be done with love, sometimes tough love and consequence, but definitely not over politics.

It's attitudes like this that Christ was talking about when he said they would "cause the little ones to stumble."

BTW, here's a passage of scripture often missed by the sort of Christians who cling to the Old Testament like Muslims do to Sharia law, ever read it?

I Timothy 6:3-10:

These are the things you are to teach and insist on. 3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4 they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5 and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.

Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

It's relevant because it talks about unlawful sexual - relations. I didn't post it

[ In Reply To ..]
here for obvious reasons, but one is

"Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere."
The actual comment bashes Pope Francis, communists & athiests, nothing about Rick Santorum - OR the Duggars, which is fine, just curiousJS

Say whatever you all like, I'm not reporting it, I just didn't get how we got from point A to point D and thought at first maybe they posted under the wrong thread or something

PS: Erm-yeah, about that Leviticus 18 passage someone mentioned above. Question? - Julia Sugarbaker

Just some afterthought postulation "what ifs" on this bible passage on sex rules someone posted above, skip it if not your thing, but did anyone read the entire passage?

Obviously, I agree with the sex abuse/deviant stuff and things that just causes pain being on the "prohibited" list, those are just common sense. But others on there aren't abusive or deviant at all - the rules about being "unclean" (menstruation)?

(There's a reason I'm bringing this up - wait for it;)

My theory is rules like the "unclean" on are only on the same prohibited list as these other things because their society was trying to increase in number and propagate, not because they'd cause pain or are deviant like most of the others.

So where in the world am I going with this?

Well, that passage also mentions consensual homosexuality between adults.

So is it possible that nonabusive, consensual adult homosexuality was also only prohibited because it wouldn't facilitate propagation either, like the menstruation rules?

Consider also the legal practice of polygamy, at the time, considered necessary to ensure propagation of species. However, we abolished the practice because it became unnecessary AND immoral in that it caused others pain. Is it possible that something like banning consensual adult homosexuality is no longer necessary either and could actually become moral for some?

Just a thought. Whatever the case, the term "unclean", makes me laugh and I had to wonder about it on the list, I'd forgotten about it. Since God created the whole process, I'm pretty sure calling us that wasn't entirely his idea;)

The authors of the Old Testament weren't big fans of women anyway, that's for sure, so that may be a clue too. Everything was a woman's fault in the Old Testament (Eve, Delilah, Jezebel even poor Bathsheba just took a bath and David went nuts. Women had virtually no value, and nowhere is this evidenced more clearly and abhorrently than in Judges 19.

But thank God for Christ and the New Testament, who undid much of the more ridiculous human additives unnecessarily tacked on to otherwise common sense commandment and law.

However, I'm really surprised they didn't stone him right then and there, when he stood in front of that prostitute. Because it was the social equivalent of if he had stood in front of a cow, as women were considered of equal property value to chattel in those days. People must've thought he was complete "bleeding heart liberal" or "communist", at the time, just for that gender-equality/status raising stunt alone. I don't think people get how truly radical and revolutionary it was to do.

Unfortunately, though Paul said some great stuff, Political Paul also nearly undid much of Christ's work in social areas later, simply to please the Pharisees to try to save himself from a similar death - and many Christians don't realize that's the reason for the "waffling" on works vs. grace (i.e., Timothy's circumcision). They almost deify Paul like Christ and I don't get it.

I guess he's just as human as David and Moses were, just not so great at admitting it like they were; but we are supposed to learn from his mistakes just like them regardless, as he was human. And he did admit (once) he was prone to conceit.

Just some postulating "what if" afterthoughts, skip over if not your thing:)

Atheism - Blanche

[ In Reply To ..]
"Atheists are moral free riders. They depend on others to have a Judeo-Christian morality that they shirk. That way they can make fun of them when they fail."

Oh, sweetie, you are grossly misinformed on the subject of atheists. Atheists are not amoral. We don't need some imaginary sky being - or the dusty old book of fairy tales written by men who claimed to speak for the imaginary sky being - to tell us right from wrong. Our morality comes from ourselves, and is based on reason, rational consideration, the 'golden rule', and the good of society.

As for morality being Judeo-Christian, I'm sure the millions of Buddhists, Shintos, Hundus, Muslims, Sikhs and followers of many other non-Christian faiths would take exception to that.

Santorum: Pre-natal Testing Leads To AbortionFeb 20, 2012
I'm glad Santorum is getting a lot of attention so Americans can see he is friggin nuts.
