Memorial Service fees

Posted: May 7, 2015

In planning a memorial service for my mom, I am finding it not so easy to get suggested donation amounts for her pastor, the soloist, and the pianist.  They just say, whatever you decide is fine.  I want to give a fair amount but don't know what this is for each of them.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  Thank you!

I'm sorry for your loss. We recently had the funeral for my mother-in-law and paid $150 for the organist, and then we donated $2000 to her church. The pastor and staff did the singing during the Episcopal service so there wasn't anybody else. That didn't include the funeral home fees; she was cremated and the costs of that and fees to the funeral home for handling everything was another $2500.

With Memorial Day having just passed it brought to mind why our service men and women are fighting.  To preserve our freedoms and that includes freedom of speech and the freedoms to believe what we want.  Nobody should be cutting down anyone else because they don't believe a certain way (that is the way they believe).  Sometimes I am gone for days, sometimes work and family keeps gives me little time to come.  These past few days or a week or so of posts here on the boar ...

Has Anyone Ever Fought Debt Fees In Small Claims?Jul 14, 2010
Around 3 years ago I had a credit card that I put a pair of tires put on (about $180).  I then promptly essentially lost my job and had a series of job hopping over the next year, going through about five jobs, none of them living up to their lofty promise of easy platform and lots of work.  In keeping the soap opera-esque quality, I was also dating an alcoholic at that time, and after I lost my job I moved in with him so I could save on electricity, internet, cable, telephone, etc.&nb ...

Christmas ServiceDec 25, 2013
I just wanted to share this with everyone as I think it is so awesome. My church had a Christmas Eve service last night. We sang carols, the old ones. Now my church is small and our choir during the year has at best 20 members. A lot of people came in for the holidays to spend with their families and some of them joined our choir for the service which raised it up to about 30 members, more or less. Well the main hymn, anthem or whatever was the Halleuia (?) chorus from Handel's messiah ...

Has Anyone Here Used A Check-printing Service? Jul 18, 2014
I recently started helping an elderly friend keep up with his bills. He has no computer and prefers mailing checks. It will cost almost $50 bucks for a refill packet of, I believe, 150 checks from his bank. Has anyone used a check-printing service that charges less?
