MD AG indicted the cops for Freddie Gray death.

Posted: May 1, 2015

She got the reports from the Baltimore police yesterday. How could she come to the conclusion today? They said she's been investigating since the 13th. Okay...but still in all, she didn't have ALL the evidence. She got the autopsy and police reports yesterday. You can't make a decision without ALL the evidence and she certainly didn't have it!

Truthfully, she sounded like she's doing this to quell the protests and that it needed to be the decision. One of the guys said if the cops were found not guilty, it'll be Rodney King all over again.

Since when do protesters tell the law what the verdict in any case should be?

Of course, Al Sharpton was pretty good at being pushy as usual. The mayor held a "press conference" yesterday thanks to Sharpton, and he didn't allow any reporters to question her on the way and did all the speaking for her, then she slipped out the back door even though Sharpton said she would answer questions AFTER the conference.

;

Look now for a push for a "national police force", - Sharpton pretty much

[ In Reply To ..]
said it himself by saying what he did about states' rights. It's coming. It's why I moved out of the city to the country. More riots in the future, brace yourself.

I see their long game as a federalized police force. - If you think our current

[ In Reply To ..]
forces are militarized, you haven’t seen "nothing" yet.

Sharpton is to hold a march to demand DOJ - take over US police dept,

[ In Reply To ..]
or "civil law enforcement" as the buzzword.

This was discussed on local talk radio in Greenville, SC this morning. Unfortunately the consensus was that the promise of better training, better public safety, better pay with the federal funds and program would lure many to support the plan despite the loss of local control and freedom.
Sharpton, possible fed police and the Obamas have nothing to do with the fact that Gray died while - in police custody after asking twice for a medic
[ In Reply To ..]
The facts we know to be true thus far are that a man died while in police custody and it wasn't suicide, and that Officer Porter has now confirmed that Gray requested medical attention twice that was never received. At the very least, that's police negligence, even if he died from sustaining prior injuries.

I'm not sure how or why this situation has become speculation about Al Sharpton, possible future federal police forces and/or the Obamas and their possible intentions all along for this country, but none of the speculation about those people who are now (or may be) getting involved after the incident has anything to do with the actual facts we have thus far about this man's death, no matter how it's spun.

Sorry for the further response tonight, but sometimes I feel a "just the facts" reminder urge come over me after I've read too much speculation, IMO. Back to quiet mode now, I promise :)
Since the officer charged with murder is black, I guess - this would be a black on black

crime.
No, it would be police on black men crime. - nm

Or black police on black men crime. - NM
[ In Reply To ..]
NM
No, since 3/6 of the officers were black, 1 was female, and the charge is involuntary manslaughter - for negligence in failing to provide a medic
[ In Reply To ..]
Note in my comment above you, I did not mention race, and my point was that neither Al Sharpton himself, nor anyone making things about Al Sharpton, are relevant to the facts in this case.

This is what happens with defense becomes a - political tool, or the lack of

it.

African-Americans want things to change so they elect democrats, - but their situation gets worse

[ In Reply To ..]
and they want things to change so they elect more democrats. Their situation continues to get worse and they demand change so they elect more democrats again.

But things don’t change so they riot in the streets and burn down their own neighborhoods. Then they elect more democrats. They are puzzled why their lives get worse.

If all you have to do is promise change and you keep getting elected, nothing will change. It comes from people, not politicians.

And the problem in many neighborhoods is you have - generatins living off entitlements,

[ In Reply To ..]
who have no clue of the value of hard work, career planning, being self-sufficient.

There's no blame here, just pointing out the endless cycle and looking at who is in chart, Detroit, Chicago, etc.

The situation continues to get worse because - of all the Repubs in Senate & Congress.

[ In Reply To ..]
Once we get THAT little mistake turned around, things may actually start to improve.

MD AG was waiting for the autopsy results - That finished her decision

[ In Reply To ..]
If this had been an average citizen, they would have already been charged.

She had an independent investigation that had, apparently, already come to certain conclusions that justified the charges once she had the determination by the autopsy that this was a homicide.

As has been said before, let the facts guide the case, and the judicial system make determination as to guilt.

What about a grand jury? I don't know if it's - different in Maryland. no msg

No need for a grand jury if the evidence is clear. nm - VTMT

This is basically the same thing Angela Corey did - to George Zimmerman,

[ In Reply To ..]
She looked at the evidence, said she had probable cause, charged him, and lost the case.

She didn’t want to bring the evidence before a grand jury, because I imagine that would not have agreed with her assessment, and I suspect the same thing has occurred in this case.

Alan Dershowitz believes its unlikely that any of them will be convicted simply because Mosby wildly overcharged them. But who knows anymore. It's crazy out there.

It's called charge larding, throwing a bunch of - charges at someone
[ In Reply To ..]
hoping that something sticks

She has 30 days to convene a grand jury - as an arrest order. she has

[ In Reply To ..]
and seek an indictment. She issued a "Probable Cause Affidavit" which served as an arrest order.

I wonder if they overcharged in order to - quell the riots and

[ In Reply To ..]
guarantee an acquittal on the charges.

Whereas 2nd degree murder sounds like a wonderful charge for death, I think it might be a hard one to get a conviction on.

Hmmm. Did a little look see on Mosby's background - Truthhurts

[ In Reply To ..]
I do believe there’s going to be more trouble with these charges. I just realized this attorney general brought the charges WITHOUT A GRAND JURY! Why? A grand jury is always put in place before indictments are handed down for “heinous” crimes.

Already, there are protesters calling to disarm the police. Isn't that wonderful? With all the crime of murder, gang wars, and drugs, that's exactly what's needed. Right? WRONG!

Now, after doing a little research, it’s common knowledge that she's MARRIED to a city councilman who encouraged rioting and looting. She was also related to or connected to the attorney for Grays family. That's why the police union is begging for an independent prosecutor. She accepted $ for her campaign from the attorney who is representing Gray's family. Shouldn't she recuse herself??!? There's NO way she was fair and impartial in coming to the conclusion to charge those officers.

There's guilty based on evidence and there's guilty based on public opinion. If they are guilty, they should be held accountable.

If Mosby thinks they're honestly guilty, she should step aside due to her relationship with the councilman (her husband), and with the Gray family attorney. That way no one can say it's a tainted investigation and prosecution.

“To the youth of this city, I will seek justice on your behalf. This is a moment….this is your moment. Let’s ensure that we have peaceful and productive rallies that will develop structural and systemic changes for generations to come. You’re at the forefront of this cause and as young people, our time is now.”

If the above paragraph isn’t political, I don’t know what is. She never should have said that.

The union is calling for a special prosecutor, but Mosby is is refusing to do so. That also tells me that it’s politically motivated. She needs to remove herself and have a special prosecutor take over this. It’s only going to cause MORE trouble if they go to trial and are acquitted.

BTW, the Mayor is or was on Obama's committee for "federalizing" the nation's police forces, so no wonder SHE was on the side of Freddie Gray and no wonder Al Sharpton is protecting her.

But Mosby also comes from a 5-generation cop family and grand jury clause is state choice. However - she did campaign promise to use a GJ

[ In Reply To ..]
I just read the same thing about Mosby and admit I found that Gray connection curious, as well as the fact that she has apparently gone back on her campaign promise that she would use a grand jury to indict if she were ever in the Ferguson situation, so she does need to address the choice.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/baltimore-city/bs-md-ci-freddie-gray-mosby-presser-0502-20150501-story.html#page=1

As for the grand jury option, here are 2 sites I found that explain that it is a state choice. Both say though all 50 states have them, only half use them and not all the time:

1. http://criminal.findlaw.com/criminal-procedure/how-does-a-grand-jury-work.html

2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_juries_in_the_United_States

However, if we are truly searching for truth, I am curious as to why the other truth of her story wasn't mentioned, which is that she comes from a long line of cops in her family, 5 generations?

I'm also curious as to why the only "digging" going on here is for dirt on the prosecutor rather than using that "digging" energy instead to help solve an actual victim crime?

I applaud the effort to find truth, we all want the truth; however, most of us want truth about the victim and the perpetrator, not the lawyers trying the case. That sort of character-assassination tactic is only used when lawyers know they can't win their cases otherwise, but not usually about the opposing lawyer trying the case.

We will never find the truth if an investigation is biased, from judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys on down to we the people.

The "digging" is going on because of the conflict of - interest. She comes from

[ In Reply To ..]
a multigenerational cop family, so she's getting it from both sides.

Dispense with the trial, just hate a vote. - That's where we're headed. nm

It's called knee-jerk reaction, done on both sides of a - situation and by the time all the

[ In Reply To ..]
facts come out it's too late. There's so much going on behind the scenes that we don't know.

Fannie and Freddie are federally chartered enterprises which buy mortgage loans from banks and bu ...

The companies would need to draw between $34.8 billion and $99.6 billion in U.S. Treasury aid under a “severely adverse” scenario, depending on how they treated assets used to offset taxes, the Federal Housing Finance Agency said in its report. The losses would leave $158.4 billion to ...
