Gosh, if only we made enough as MTs to actually take a vacation.  Cool  I think I'd pick New Mexico or Arizona.  Nebraska even looks interesting!

Vacation - Dotts

[ In Reply To ..]
Gosh, makes me think of the 1980s when the economy was good and I worked for an insurance company. After a few years, my boss decided to send me on an all-expense paid vacation to first, a resort in Scottsdale, AZ, then on to Las Vegas and finally to Orange County/Malibu CA, plus I got my regular two-week pay from his company! Guess I won't see that happening again any time soon. By the way, I liked Arizona best ...

Wow! Those were the days, Dotts! - sm

Even during my lowest pay still had the vacations - taxes back

[ In Reply To ..]
Years and years ago when I had small children I went as no dependents, single and got back enough on taxes to start taking some really nice vacations. We started in Florida and then moved out to the Caribbean, Mexico, a trip to Greece later on. These last trips or so was when I worked 2 full time jobs. I have also visited almost all the states, lacking about 3 or 4. I love to travel and now since I work part-time (and older) planning this year for 2 if not 3 trips. I start really early planning in December and pay in increments. Even WDW allows payment like that, installments. I pay everything up front except for food and gas. This is easy for me. I started taking vacations when my daughter was 5 and have kept it up years later. I have trip planned for not only the beach this summer but also up the eastern coast visiting places I have not been to yet, including Vermont and Maine.

Take a lot of trips - marge

My kids and I travel a lot! That is one of the things I love about my work as an MT; the flexibility and salary it affords me to travel when/where I wish.

Now, that being said, I am working on MOST of my trips (one reason I don't call them a vacation). We are literally gone about 12-15 weeks out of the year. If I had to do a job in which I had to show up for work every day that would never be possible. I love that I can take my laptop and a small printer with me and am completely portable.

My status is completely IC. I do not work for a company. I work directly for the doctors/clinics. They have been awesome in terms of flexibility and work around all of my trips. :D

I'm hoping next year to take the kids to Europe for 3-5 months to truly experience living in different cultures. Thankfully I can take my job with me and do just that. :)

Senior Dating SitesJan 04, 2016
Have any of you older ones had any good experiences with senior dating sites that you can recommend?  I've been looking online, and after reading reviews, they all look like they can potentially rip you off.  Actually, I don't even want to "date" per se, just want a companion to go places with, male or female, which is harder than you might think, especially where I live now.   Anyway, I found that AARP had its own dating site, and I thought - gr ...

In The United States, Democracy Is A LieApr 20, 2013
Do you ever wonder why it seems we’re always having the same fights over public policy? Why is it that after we get off our butts, stand in line for hours at the polls, cast our ballots, and are told we “won,” nothing seems to get resolved? Aren’t elections supposed to have consequences? What happened to “We the People”?Americans grow up believing they live in a democracy, indeed the world’s greatest democracy. Toomey States The Obvious.May 01, 2013
A bipartisan proposal to expand background checks for gun sales failed in part due to Republicans' desire to prevent President Barack Obama from winning a victory on a major policy initiative, the gun proposal's chief GOP proponent said Wednesday. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., who crafted a proposal with Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., to extend background checks to firearms purchased at gun shows and online, said the measure failed to win the 60 votes it needed to win passage due to Republican ...

Let the residents who so dislike the Affordable Care Act continue with the current system of full insurance company control and denial and exclusions and ridiulously unaffordable premiums and strain on emergency rooms, etc. They can have it!
