Unbelievable story line in B&B

Posted: Mar 20, 2015

Well, did anyone watch Bold & Beautiful when Mya's sister spilled Mya's secret. She is secretly Myron and not Mya. I cannot believe we are now being exposed to transgender stuff. These soaps are getting to be political as well as more ridiculous. What say the rest of you all.;

What would make a story line about - a transgender person

[ In Reply To ..]
political? This is a fact of human life that many people are not aware of and soaps are often the first places in mainstream media where these types of issues are dealt with.

Jamming it down our throats - Troubling

[ In Reply To ..]
The soaps love the ridiculous story lines, but the fact is, we are being force-fed the homosexual and transgender agenda. They're the first to say they don't need society's approval, but they work very hard to make sure everyone says that what they're doing is okay. Anyone who disagrees and says it's wrong and unbiblical is vilified and ostracized.

If you feel like a soap opera is - jamming something

[ In Reply To ..]
down your throat, why on earth would you watch it? Are the "biblical approved" subjects of adultery, murder, incest, rape, thievery, double-crossing, child abuse, drug addiction somehow more acceptable?

I don't watch it. - Troubling

[ In Reply To ..]
And I agree; the soaps thrive on a lot of the subjects you mention. So there's little reason why they wouldn't go the homosexual route. My comment was on the prevalence of the homosexual agenda in most of what we see on TV and news today and the mindset behind it.
On the other hand, - a lot of us

don't particularly like intolerant religious people shoving their strange "alternative lifestyles" down our throats either.

Mya/Myron, LOL! Makes me think the scene from Tootsie ... - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
where Dustin Hoffman reveals his true identity live on the soap opera he was working on.

"For I am not Emily Kimberly, the daughter of Dwayne and Alma Kimberly. No, I'm not. I'm Edward Kimberly..."

Soap operas will always take current social issues and try to to turn them into dramatic and ridiculous story lines. If I were a transgender person and I wanted help people to understand my lifestyle, the last place I would ask them to look would the Bold and the Beautiful!

That being said, I do believe that ALL media outlets are pushing the "alternate lifestyle" agenda.

Yes, safe to say all media outlets - push "alternate lifestyles"...

[ In Reply To ..]
Back when I was growing up, "Leave it to Beaver" and "Father Knows Best" where alternate lifestyles to my experience. That's why we watched them.

Wow do I agree - anonie

[ In Reply To ..]
I totally agree. They want this to be acceptable when it is clearly a sin.

This is not homosexuality, which they have had before on this program, but transgender.

I will never accept any kind of lifestyle of either brand.

This makes it political because it is being forced down our throats.

They are dumbing down kids and indoctrinating them in school and now even entertainment is doing the same thing with adults.

The TV cannot indoctrinate you if you - turn it off.

[ In Reply To ..]
I fail to see how neurological differences and mental disorders are "sins," but I have no trouble seeing what is sinful about intolerance and a lack of compassion and charity.

If you don't like it, find something else to watch or turn off the TV. Perhaps you could find some redeeming volunteer work to do instead.

I used to feel the same way - sm - love my sister

[ In Reply To ..]
I used to feel exactly the same as you, very conservative in my views, refused to even attend the local Methodist church because they opened their doors to gays.
Then my sister came out of the closet. I was rocked back on my heels, didn't tell my kids, just dropped out of her life for years - - and missed her a lot. It took several years to reach acceptance. I think I had to go through all the stages of grief, but in the end it turned out it wasn't my sister who died, it was my righteous superiority. When I found my sister again, she was the same person I loved, only really happy for the first time, married to a wonderful woman whom I am proud to call my sister-in-law. They've been married now for ten years and are great together. And, like most married couples, they don't show public displays of affection, and there's nothing "weird" about them when you see them. They're the greatest of friends, and they show it.
I'm forever grateful this happened in my life, that I came to know a lesbian (that term has so many negative overtones!) as a real, whole person, not just someone whose entire life is about "doing the dirty" with another woman. Life is soooo much more than that!

Why watch soap operas?? - Wondering

Soap operas have never been known for the quality of their content, even before now. Why watch them at all?

...jamming anything down anyone's throat or "indoctrinating" anyone. If it pains you to have to share the planet with people who don't fit into your narrow worldview, draw the curtains and turn off the TV. Otherwise, you'll have to learn to deal.

That is unbelievable - since

[ In Reply To ..]
since soap operas have always been such a bastion of pure, wholesome, squeaky-clean story lines. Why, whatever will they try to foist on their hothouse-flower audience next? Infidelity? Incest? Murder? Rape?

(And before this turns into a confirmation of Poe's law, the above was sarcasm).
