Question about gasoline prices...

Posted: Feb 24, 2015

Some on this board credited the falling gas prices to Obama.

Are the rising gas prices attributed to him as well?

;

I would have said Saudi Arabia - low gas prices - and high gas prices

There are some on this board, however, who were giving all the credit to Obama when the prices were falling. Now that they're on the rise again, I wonder if they have they new information that that is Obama's doing. Or maybe it is Bush's fault.

Selective memory...sm - VTMT

It was the republicans who blamed Obama for the rise in gas prices to over $4.00 a gallon. It was the dems that held the position that it was not. When the prices fell, we felt the same way and no one cheered that president Obama brought the gas prices down. Now that prices have gone up a few cents in the past week is it now supposed to be be the president's doing again?
Except when joking amongst ourselves the phrase - "must be Obama's fault"

Conservatives: The Party of Selective and No Memory - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
What has been said on this board by liberals is along the lines of: Now that the price of gas is going down, I wonder if the conservatives will thank Obama? It was a rhetorical question because, believe me, we all knew the answer.

I guess conservatives don't remember how Mitt Romney and his surrogates spent several months hammering away at Obama and the high price of gas and how it was all Obama's FAULT and actually a conspiracy by President Obama to raise the price of gas to force us all to buy fuel efficient cars. Board discussions regarding gasoline prices have generally been some conservative whining about how it was Obama's fault that gas prices were so high and spewing the party line on how we had such low prices with Bush (ain't recession prices great?).

Remember Romney being a jerk in debate number 2 and blaming President Obama for the price of gas? Remember Romney being a jerk in debate number 2 in general? PROCEED GOVERNOR. LOL. See link below.

Seriously: Want a perfect illustration of conservative selective and no memory and how they use their propaganda to dupe the masses? Watch the Fox News commentary on gas prices when Bush was president in 2008:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzEnKdBAb_o

Now contrast that to later commentary in the first link where conservatives are discussing gas prices and how they are President Obama's fault and the second link showing Fox News THEN and NOW (propaganda at its finest):

Case closed, indeed!

In other news: President Obama signed only his third veto today and killed the Keystone XL pipeline, and the conservatives #1 priority just went down the drain. Thanks, Obama!

I sure love our president - - nm

Rising prices in CA not attributed to Obama, - but to a refinery explosion. (sm)

[ In Reply To ..]
Some dumb oil refinery that was already in trouble for code violations and maintenance issues had an explosion that affected their production. It was their own stupid fault, yet of course they're passing the costs down to us.

It's oil company greed. Obama has nothing to do with it.

Governor of California, wants to raise the gas tax another 75 cents per gallon. Another tax-and-spend liberal, he needs the money to pay for all the illegal aliens and his "crazy train".

refinery taking advantage of a temporary shortage (caused by their own stupidity) and using it to gouge the consumers. And of course, all the others follow suit.
Well, you may be familiar, but not everyone is and - not everyone agrees with you.
[ In Reply To ..]
One refinery in one state can't be responsible for everything, and of course you have no facts to back up your statements.
What is your problem? I'm just talking about - what drove up CA prices.
[ In Reply To ..]
I wasn't talking about what causes other states' gas prices to rise, just Cali's.
What is YOUR problem? - SM
[ In Reply To ..]
The OP isn't about California. It's about the United States of America. Got it?
The last I heard, CA is still part of the U.S. - I was just giving a CA perspective.

Calm down.

Conservatives won't blame Obama this time; no one believes their propaganda anymore. - Been there, done that - nm

It's against BO's will to lower the cost of anything. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
He does not know one thing about budgeting as evidenced by his skyrocketing debt, which happens to exceed the debt of all 43 preceding presidents.

He wasn't responsible for the lowering of gas prices as the Dems would like to believe. As far as being responsible for increasing the gas prices, we'll have to wait and see, but it could very well be due to some crackhead policy he dreamed up. Time will tell.

The cost of my health insurance went down - because of his "will".

Romney Would Index SS Benefit To Prices Rather ThanSep 22, 2012
Here's short explanation (if you stick to the summary at the top) of the effects of the various ways we can handle SS benefit increases. It really seems like our choice is to either 1. Accept lower and lower payments over the years, indexed to prices (Republican plan), or 2. Increase our SS tax paid with each paycheck now (7.5%+ us and 7.5%+ employer) and get benefits that keep pace with general income levels over the years, indexed to wages (the way we've been doing it). http://www ...

Syria: Oil Prices Vs Wall StreetAug 29, 2013
That September drop you were expecting for gasoline prices? Don't hold your breath. Currently, gasoline averages $3.55 a gallon nationally, down from $3.63 a month ago. Most analysts had expected a drop to about $3.40 by early fall on seasonal demand slumping following the summer driving season. Not now. Some forecasters predict a short-term spike of up to 10 cents a gallon. Crude oil prices and gas futures are soaring on growing fears that if the U.S. military strikes at Syria for its h ...

Get Ready For Restaurants To Increase Prices. Apr 09, 2017
about to come into effect, and it could sink pizza franchises nationwide. The regulation would require restaurant chains with twenty or more locations to post nutritional information for every item on the menu and every variation of item on the menu. Domino’s executives figured out that there are over 34 million different combinations of toppings for their pizzas. That’s a big sign -- and an expensive one. This is why we need a public option. Oil Prices Rise On Middle East, Bernanke CommentsMar 01, 2011
Yikes!  It's a good thing we're drilling for oil here in the U.S.!  Oh wait, never mind. Even still, I bet the rising oil prices are Bush's fault like before when oil prices went up.  Oh wait, he didn't ban off-shore drilling - never mind. "Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told Congress Tuesday that a prolonged rise in oil prices would hurt the U.S. economy."  Oh really? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out, does it? Duh. Th ...

Okay, here is a question that I have not seen come up here.  While watching news today this just crossed my mind.  If the government sets an insurance rate you have to pay based upon what you make per year, do they take into account all your other bills, and that sometimes as ICs we don't get any work coming in at times, and then what they set is more than what you can afford (i.e. more money than your paycheck and you still have to pay all your bills).  As ICs I'm sure ...
