Boehner a Traitor?

Posted: Jan 23, 2015

I think it absolutely dead wrong that he invited Netanyahu without consulting the White House.

Seems now it is being reported that there is great opposition in Israel for Netanyahu to go to speak before Congress also.  It is thought that Netanyahu had a hand in prompting this "speech" before Congress to promote himself in the elections in Israel.

I think Netanyahu will back out.

At least we won't have to try Boehner as a traitor then.  That would just be messy.

Call me stupid, but why would he come here to the US and speak in front of our Congress to promote himself in the elections in Israel? How would that help him?

We have always been an ally of Israel until this presidency, but always important to Congress.

To give himself foreign policy cred back home - sm

Israel is divided into political factions just like U.S. and everywhere else for that matter.

There is a lot of opposition to Netanyahu in Israel. A lot of people who don't support his policy on Palestinians and foreign issues.

As to this administration not backing Israel. I would say it is the first admnistration with the guts to not back them BLINDLY. I think they have still backed them. They haven't been willing to go to war for Israel.

Congress is using Netanyahu. He is using Congress.

why thank you. - nana7

Now if you could explain all politics like this and make us all understand it, you would be a millionair and I wouldn't need to ask questions like this. Thanks again.
Well, there's a whole lot of people that wouldn't - agree with my takes--

I was a long time realizing that all of this crap we go through here, people go through in most foreign countries, at least the ones that are allowed any freedom to have any opposition parties-lol. The rest of them are just executed at the first they mention opposition, which is a whole other course of study. Very interesting stuff to me anyway.

I for one like the PM of Israel. Would you have not fought for your country as he has? If he didn't take a hard line, there would not be an Israel. It would have been taken over a long time ago.

I don't believe this is a political thing. I think he sincerely wants to talk to Congress hoping that since Obama is so against him, maybe he can convince Congress of his motives and his reasons for what he does to protect and defend Israel.

I like him and appreciate his willingness to stop these mad men when necessary.

Do any of you realize how much Israel does for those countries, yet they want to destroy Israel and claim all of it as their own. Doctors have treated Palestinians and other enemies over and over again. I'd say that was very exceptional and shows that Israel just wants to be a sovereign country of its own.

If this is political, I am sure we will find out. I'd like to know what the majority think of our president. I am not happy with him especially where Israel is concerned.
How much Israel has done for what countries? Please - explain. nm

What Israel has done for its enemies - anonie

Israel has cared for their enemies and given them very good care, often times saving their health in some ways.

If you Google, I am sure you will find that they help the very enemies that they have to fight. They have long time done this for everyone.

I doubt they have helped the Taliban or Al-Quada but their enemies who keep coming at them.

I wish I had the exact URLs to give you but I do not.

My prediction--he will not address our Congress on Iran. I think he will walk this back somehow. (just a prediction, obviously not known)

He is getting a lot of criticism for this and I don't think his own people like the optics of meddling in U.S. politics.

I heard on the radio today that this is somewhat akin to Democratic Congress having invited Jacques Chirac from France to address Congress on the ills of invading Iraq.

Also, it was said that it may not have been inappropriate to have made the invitation, but it was inappropriate for Netanyahu to have accepted. Personally, I think he is a boor, so that really doesn't surprise me.
The Republicans love boors - Putin and Netanyahu are heroes to them

I agree with you. Not the type of leader I prefer at all.

For some reason pigheadedness seems a much admired trait - or maybe they call it decisiveness? I don't.

I prefer a leader who considers all elements and does not rush in yelling, pointing, etc. That is not my type of hero, I prefer brains and thoughtfulness to arrogance and blustering.

This is scary for me -- Fox News agrees with me - see link

Shep Smith and Chris Wallace talking about the ill advised invitation to Netanyahu.

Watching the link, I think Shep just called Republican Congress supporters morons!

This must be a result of some strange offending Jewish support in U.S.

Israeli/Jewish/American politics is so complicated in the U.S.

Republicans really stepped into it this time.

News in from Ohio, the home state of the Boehner.  Apparently the republ guvinator, the self-same fella whose first act in office was ramming through a union busting law (which was later overwhelmingly swatted down by the voters) decided he was going to give his State O' The State address in a small town (302 miles round trip) instead of the state capitol.  He claims it will add no cost.  Guess he doesnt consider satellite equipment and the cost and time of all the LEGISLATOR ...

House Speaker John Boehner made Weiner, who resigned last year in a sexting scandal, a punch line in a breakfast speach this morning to the New York and Puerto Rico GOP delegatons. BOEHNER BLINKSOct 10, 2013
I hope the blowback to the GOP is like a death knell to the party.  You don't try to score political points on the backs of those who are hurt in a partial shutdown - ordinary hardworking people from all party affiliations. I guess they thought this was THE ONLY way to get the president to negotiate, but I don't think that's true.  It's because they tried to tie OBAMACARE to the vote - he was willing to negotiate anything else. Here is the unavoidable truth: NO ON ...

Boehner Is Becoming Invincible--they Won'tOct 10, 2015
Boehner insists he wants to leave as scheduled at the end of October, but if Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., won't agree to replace him, it may take a while for a consensus to form around an alternative. "While we go through this process, we've got to continue to address the people's priorities. This institution cannot grind to a halt," Boehner told Republicans Friday morning in a closed-door session. "It is my hope — and indeed it is my plan — for this House to elect a new speaker ...

Great Article On Boehner By BBCOct 08, 2013
"On a very simple level, the closing of most of the American federal government can be pinned on the ambitions of one man, Speaker of the House John Boehner. ... This Congress is held in the lowest public esteem since the invention of public opinion polls. And the Republicans are more disliked than the Democrats. Once seen as a skilled dealmaker, Mr Boehner isn't able to make deals. Never seen as an ideologue, he has now relinquished control of the Republican policy agenda to the party&# ...

Boehner Signs Up For ObamacareNov 23, 2013
Boehner tried to vote out Obamacare over 46 times and now he has signed up in 1 day. Article for LA Times: By Michael Hiltzik November 22, 2013, 3:54 p.m. In the latest attempt by congressional Republicans to make theatrical hay out of the Affordable Care Act without actually trying to make it any better, House Speaker John A. Boehner Tells House G.O.P. To Fall In LineNov 11, 2012
From the NY Times: "On a conference call with House Republicans a day after the party’s electoral battering last week, Speaker John A. Their party lost, badly, Mr. Boehner said, and while Republicans would still control the House and would continue to staunchly oppose tax rate increases as Congress grapples with the impending fiscal battle, they had to avoid the n ...
