What is a TSM?

Posted: Jan 18, 2015

I am not familiar with this abbreviation. Is it an abbreviation for a title or something. So many companies have team leaders or whatever else they like to call themselves. I can't keep up on this lingo. ;

Thanks. I was seeing a lot this but didn't know what it was. I guess our companies all have different names for the positions of QA, etc.

TSMs are more managerial/supervisory. Many have never done QA work, so it's kind of a joke since they're supposed to be helping you.

As I was trying to say in the subject line here, your TSM could be TSM one day, then TL the next. I think one company has a HDSM now or something like that.

These MTSOs restructure things about as often as most people change their underwear, so be warned that things will change at the drop of a hat at any time if you're going to be doing this MT crud.

I work for a company who has all kinds of titles I never heard of before.

Whatever floats their boats, i.e. titles. No one is better than anyone else and as you say some don't do QA.

I worked at a place that once had a person from a community college come to do QA on our charts. We all had more experience than she did in transcription yet she taught it. That was a huge joke too. We soon let the owners know we didn't care for her or the fact she was not experienced. Luckily they listened.
