schizoaffective disorder

Posted: Dec 19, 2014

not sure what board to use.  I tried the gab board, but the link did not work.

My 20-year-old daughter was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder.  She is a high school dropout (working on that with online classes), trying to get custody of her baby back because she had a psychotic break after baby was born and CPS took her baby away, has had legal troubles because of her psychotic breaks.  Its been a roller coaster ride.  Just wondering how difficult it would be for her to get SSI with this diagnosis.  Any tips, tricks, info would be very appreciated.

A lot of people with psychiatric disorders get SS disability insurance.

For her sake, she may want to try working, though. I know what schizoaffective disorder is, and with proper medication and therapy, they can lead normal lives. One also has to make sure she's properly diagnosed. There are some crossovers of other psychiatric illnesses, so schizoaffective may be a difficult one to properly diagnose and treat properly.

Often, doctors use condition names for health insurance reasons, too, so be careful of that. They have to call it something that's in the latest DSM.

Undiagnosed Neurologic DisorderFeb 10, 2010
I have an undiagnosed neurologic disorder where I have hemifacial spasm produced by pushing on my skull and neck. This seems to be blood but all tests are negative - MRI of brain, C spine, MRA, etc.  I have had a previous cervical laminectomy for stenosis and pray that is not failing. Had it done in 2004.  They thought I had a dural fistula in my brain but could not confirm that either. I have been in and out of the hospital the last 4 months with no diagnosis. I also have extreme dizz ...

I would really appeciate your prayers for both my daughter and myself.  We both suffer from anxiety disorder.  I have had this my whole life, and it has made life difficult, but even more difficult is seeing my 23-year-old daughter struggle with this also.  I have been praying for years, but so far my prayers have gone unanswered.  I am trying to stay optimistic, but it is really difficult sometimes.  thank you so much for your prayers ...

Trump's Personality DisorderNov 23, 2015
"For mental-health professionals, Donald Trump is at once easily diagnosed but slightly confounding. “Remarkably narcissistic,” said developmental psychologist Howard Gardner, a professor at Harvard Graduate School of Education. “Textbook narcissistic personality disorder,” echoed clinical psychologist Ben Michaelis. “He’s so classic that I’m archiving video clips of him to use in workshops because there’s no better example of his characteristics,” said clinical psychologist Ge ...

Son had a doctor's appt. today and the doctor did some clinical tests for a seizure disorder- he failed one.  The doctor called it Rummer's test- like rum.  I can't find it online.  Any suggestions what he might have been talking about.  The test was when he was standing with eyes closed- arms straight out.  He listed to the right and lost his balance. Thanks! ...

Adjustment Disorder With Anxiety And Depressed Mood Jun 17, 2015
is my (MT-related) dx after finally visiting a shrink last week.  One of these days, I'm optimistically hoping to be "adjusted" again, in a new field!  Not that I'm not a good MT, I have confidence that I'm very good at what I do, but it's just -- you know. Thanks for reading. This forum is the only place I have any communication at all with "coworkers," and I can't begin to tell you how much I value it.  It lets me know I'm still sane.   : ) ...
