La Raza Promotes Washington Post Guide On Where People Can Vote Without An ID

Let me guess. The point of this post - promote democratic elections

I would think that with all the confusing information out there about what states have it made it more difficult to vote, that it might be necessary to let people know what is required to vote.

Every time I pick up a paper or turn on the TV, there is news about some state's requirements being repealed, upheld, changed, changed again.

I looked at the Washington Post's graphic. It shows that my State does not require an ID to vote. That is true. However, you must be registered to vote and to register to vote you must have identification and an mailing address.

I personally have received robo calls telling me that the voting deadline had changed or the polling place has changed, all in effort to make sure that my vote will not count. Why would someone do that? Especially when it seems to be promoted especially by the party that proclaims to love the constitution so much that they carry unread copies of the constitution around in their pockets.

Lacking an ID - hmmmm

Just heard a statistic the other day that among those who still don't have an ID (can't imagine why they don't) it is split pretty evenly between the races - so crying racism when it comes to voter ID doesn't hold water anymore.
Also, the fact the Washington Post reported which states do not require an ID has caused some problems for those states because it supposedly was an information piece only, but unethical "get out and vote" groups are using it to tell people which states they can vote in without an ID, as if they can move from state to state....hmmmm

Hummer, have you got a source for the heresay? - I note

That there are a lot of "whisper" campaigns, I guess to plant misinformation as fact.

Telling people to vote in a different state does not seem really plausible. As I mentioned, my state requires that you are registered and registration requires ID and proof of address. I also know that you can register the day of voting if you have the above PLUS a registered voter who can vouch for your residency. It would certainly be very difficult for someone from another state to come in and vote here.

An Article From The Washington PostDec 24, 2009
This article was written by Secretary of Commerce in the Clinton administration and Chairman of Algore's campaign. The announcement by Alabama Rep. Parker Griffith that he is switching to the Republican Party is just the latest warning sign that the Democratic Party -- my lifelong political home -- has a critical decision to make: Either we plot a more moderate, centrist course or risk electoral disaster not just in the upcoming midterms but in many elections to come. But now they face a ...

Question For People Planning To VoteApr 10, 2012
