Over a week ago, I had to put my 13year old feline friend, Timothy to sleep because he had cancer. I've had him since he was 4 months old. He was the last living link to my husband who brought him home and who died 7 years ago. He was a black and white tuxedo and was so full of himself. I will miss him very much. On the bright side, I went to our local animal control who was having a free adoption day this weekend and found a grey and white kitten named Sky. She is the sweetest thing and seems to know she is in a good home now. My other cat Molley is slowing accepting her but it's going to take some time. I did not get another cat to replace Timothy but to honor him. He was a rescue cat and Sky is also a rescue. She is about 4 months old and does not know how to play, she's been in a cage for a while. She has a little cold now but I do have medicine for her. Please pray that she will get better and put on some weight. She is a sweet baby;

Wishing you the very best - Christine

Not much hits us as hard as the loss of a beloved pet. I am so sorry to hear you lost your dear Timothy.

I am so happy you chose to open your home and heart to another cat who needs a home. I hope you, Sky and Molly will be very happy together. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

Me too. - CalMT

I am sorry for your loss of your feline friend Timothy. My cat of 12 years died last week too. He died right in front of me. Just keeled over and died. He made a weird noise and just dropped. No signs of being sick or anything. I was so distraught I tried to do CPR on him but he was dead. I am glad you have another cat and just got a new one to keep you company. I am missing my guy too much right now to get another cat. He was my bud. I am glad you are honoring Timothy.

I'm sorry lonely that sounds horrible! I don't know how I would - respond if that happened to me..sm

Was your cat old? Do you think he maybe had a heart attack or a stroke?...just sounds so sad. My condolences to both you and Molleycat.

Your post is heartbreaking. Last weekend my sister called me, stating her guinea pig (Opal) was dying. This is the third one for her, and there is one left now. She was crying, and later I found that Opal died a few hours after I spoke to my sister. She said she held her in a towel for about an hour after she died. My sister had to go to work a few hours after she lost her. It truly is a terrible thing to go through. I hope time will bring you to the place where you can give a wonderful home to another very deserving animal.

Oh, I'm so sorry. - Cat Mom

So sorry to hear that you lost your companion of many years and congrats on your new addition.

When we get new pets after one has passed, it is not to replace them at all. Each pet we have leaves it own mark and it's one that cannot just be written over.

I have a thought for you and this comes from reading a Facebook post that a friend posted earlier in the summer. It is basically from the viewpoint of a deceased dog, saying that you shouldn't hold off just because "I'm not ready yet." The dog goes on to say to give his bed to another so they may stay warm, his toys for them to play with, since there were other homeless animals looking for what he had...a loving home.

I appreciate the fact that you are honoring your companion by giving his home to another. Given the post that I reference above is from the viewpoint of a dog, it could also be from the perspective of a cat. Good luck to you and Sky. Thanks for adopting.

I'm sorry about Timothy, but I'm glad you have a new baby (sm) - Cat Mom

to love. Of course, we can't replace the animals who have passed. They will always hold a special place in our hearts and we will remember them always. I believe I will see all my animals again at Rainbow Bridge. I like to think of them playing together in the warm sunny breezes and tall grasses.
