Anybody want to talk some actual politics?

Posted: Sep 29, 2014

So much of this board is just slinging slime.  There are real political issues to discuss other than National Enquirer land.

We're headed strong into mid-term elections and there are real issues out there.

Just messing with you! My dear husband loves to listen to talk radio and then fill my ears with his opinions.

But, I did hear the Clintons are now grandparents!

actually typed it!) "The patient arrived as a trauma patient early this morning after apparently drinking to excess, crashing his car, fleeing from police at a traffic stop and accident, and then jumping approximately 30 feet from a perfectly good bridge in town."   Man, why'd he have to go and ruin a perfectly good bridge?  :P ...

Two Actual Classified Typos From Our PaperAug 13, 2010
One ad included the phrase, "Pay commiserate with experience." One said, "Autistic ability? Apply to ___ Sign Company." The first one is apropos now. I feel that my pay is truly commiserating with my experience!! (If anyone has the right words on the tip of their tongue-- the words the ad-writers were looking for were "commensurate" and "artistic"!) ...

Condensed Version Of Actual Mass Arrest, AndJan 31, 2012
I saw all of this unfold live - from beginning to end.  This footage is condensed, but in no way retouched, other than some captions.  It proves what I was saying earlier, and also proves that the mainstream media (bought & paid for by Big Biz, just like the Mayor of Oakland and the Oakland P.D.), is going out of its way to paint a completely different picture than what actually happened.  Remember:  You can no longer make judgements about ANYTHING that happens in this c ...

Not About Politics At All But I'll Be We Can AllAug 02, 2012
agree that no matter the party we all love to see our athletes competing in the Olympics, including Ann Romney's horse.  I was wondering what others here would say was their favorite part of the Olympics.  I love watching all the competitions but my absolute favoite is at a US Gold medal ceremony when they play the National Anthem.  Canada is also my very close neighbor and "Oh Canada" is a favorite too when the Canadians win. ...

From a friend... ATTN: Trump dies in Jerusalem Donald Trump-45 passed away on a fact-finding visit to Israel. While he was on a tour of Jerusalem he suffered a heart attack and died. The undertaker told the American Diplomats accompanying him, 'We can have him shipped home for $50,000, or you can bury him here, in the Holy Land for just $100." The American Diplomats huddled in a corner and discussed their options for a few minutes. They came back to the undertaker and told him that th ...

Just Thinking About Something Related To Politics And MTMar 15, 2011
Wouldn't it be great if we had an MT union (not going to happen; too late for that) and we see headlines that say, "We are troubled because union MTs make 12% MORE than non-union MTs."   Just a thought. I think that might be a very good thing. ...

The Trouble With Politics Is The Most Popular...smDec 18, 2011
politicians are the ones who tell their constituants what they want to hear even if they have to lie thereby leaving the honest politicians who tell their constituants the honest if painful truth out in the cold.  In politics, it seems that honesty is not always the best policy. As with anything else in our dysfunctional society, follow the money, only worse now that the SCOTUS has ruled that a coorporation is a person and can donate their limitless funds to the political parties of their ...

Bush and President Obama that were identified and determined by rumor-validation site, snopes.com, to be true, false, a mixture of true and false, or uncertain.  It turns out, there are a lot more rumors and a lot more false rumors about Obama than there were about Bush: Jay Livingston summarizes: In less than two years, Obama rumor-monger ...

Another Observation On The Politics BoardSep 20, 2012
I have been thinking how boring and pointless this Board has gotten in the last couple of months with the incessant Obama bashing and anything Democratic or liberal.   I noticed that apparently I am not the only one thinking this because next to each post there is the counter that says how often a post is viewed.  I notice that most original posts barely get over 50 hits and most secondary posts get maybe 10 to 25.  I did a random search of the achives and found that th ...

The Pope And Politics: Should He Or Shouldn't He?May 18, 2015
Well, since it's very quiet on the forum today, I thought I'd post something I initially read on Friday on paper in the WSJ, but I couldn't find the exact article online, so I posted the same story from my other favorite, the Washington Post:  Pope Francis and the vatican announced a treaty that recognized the Palestinian state, and he also conferred two 17th century Palestinian nuns for canonization. Even if you're not Catholic or you don't agree with him, ya gott ...

Does Hillary Know That She May Have Just Destroyed Her Career In Politics?Oct 16, 2012
By taking responsibility for the lack of security in Benghazi, I think she may have just blown her own future. Is she hoping that it will all be forgotten by 2016? What the heck was she thinking? To cover for the President and VP is absolutely the wrong thing to do. Hillary may have to share some of the blame but let's put the blamed where it belongs. Right at the top. Totally Unrelated To Politics (so Report Me! Hee)Mar 01, 2013
I used to be an astrology fan but don't give much credence to it anymore, figure it's mostly just ideas of reference and self-fulfilling synchronicity, but the effects of Mercury Retrograde, on communication in particular, is the one aspect of it that I just can't let go of yet.  Especially since it's uncanny how often I can just "tell" one is happening or about to be happening, like now.  Forewarned is forearmed.  Me, I'm just going to go sit on my thumbs ...
