This is getting complicated

Syrian jet over Golan Heights (Israel), IDF shoots it down.  Syrian jet may have been pursuing Al-Qaeda backed rebels.  ....So, Israel shoots down Syrians fighting Al-Qaeda/ISIS?

It is complicated. - Which Syrians are helping us?

I didn't think it was anyone associated with the government. Wouldn't that be a Syrian military jet? Or do the "moderate Syrian rebels" have access to the military jets?

Someone should have let the Israelis in on this if they didn't expect them to shoot down this air plane. Not so long ago, Israel was bombing things and US not at all interested really in helping them other than lip service, Mr. O.

I really get scared about all of these Islamists who want us all dead.

May the illegals can fight off ISIS if it comes to our shores. Anyway, it scares me when I think someday Pres O just could wait too long and things could get really bad here in our country. Our borders should be closed permanently and only go back to legal immigration.

I have lived a long while and this is the first time I can say I am really afraid of our enemies coming here (which they already are) and executing some really monstrous thing worse than 9/11 if it can be worse than that. I was not this afraid when we went through the Cuban missle thing in the 60s. Sometimes I wonder what our country would have been like if Kennedy had not been assassinated. I am not Democrat or Republican now at all. I think they are all corrupt and lie or at best tell us what they think we want to hear and then when they get into office, they are not grateful for our votes. They are just grateful to get to act like dictators and go around Congress or hold up bills like Harry Reid does. How many has he got on his table 300 or so?

No person in any capacity should have this much power. I fear for our country right now in so many ways.

I agree with everything you said, especially about Israel. - sm

However, we don't know if Israel was invited to join or not. I can see that both ways. The Muslim extremists hate Israel more than they hate us. Maybe to have Israel as part of the coalition would not be acceptable to the Arab nations who are part of the coalition.

I also agree with being afraid. I've never been this nervous. I have felt this way since the recent Israel-Gaza conflict. It just seems tensions everywhere have exploded so much since then.

The thing that really got me was when the Pope gave the nod for ISIS to be destroyed and made some comment about this being WW III.

You think the Israelis didn't know what they - were doing?

That they hadn't been "let in on it." They themselves stated, they had no choice but to shoot it down because it would be seconds before a major population center. It was SYRIAN. They are not friends of theirs. They would not have given it a pass. Seems to me the Syrians just got a bit zealous and flew out of their airspace in pursuit.

Harry Reid only holds up the bills the president would never sign anyway. - sm

This saves government a lot of money by not wasting time arguing and voting on and sending bills to the Executive Branch that will only be vetoed by the president anyway. It's really not anything new at all; the whiny politicians just make you think it is unusual, but it's been going on like that for centuries.

John Boehner is doing the exact same thing holding up bills in the House and allowing voting on bill after bill after bill and sending them to the Senate when he knows the president won't sign them, all while tabling the bills the president will sign sent from the Senate. The GOP Tea Party will compromise on very, very little (war), and the president is not going to sign any of the 50+ bills the House keeps sending to the Senate to repeal Obamacare. It's actually pretty standard obstructionist politics. The House knows their bills are going to sit there. Should the House want to send a compromise bill, they certainly know what the president wants, and certainly no one is stopping them from compromising.

The bottom line is that the president sets the agenda. Congress can either:
* Agree
* Compromise
* Obstruct.

Lately they have chosen to obstruct.
