Obamacare architect announces optimal time to die.

Posted: Sep 20, 2014

I guess I still have a few years before they pull my plug.

This comment smacks of the "death squad" - threat --- not at all what author states

"Once I have lived to 75, my approach to my health care will completely change. I won’t actively end my life. But I won’t try to prolong it, either."

He just sees that as the optimal time.

Almost there and heavens no I hope to live as long - if not longer than my daddy

Still working, still traveling, loving my life and the things I am able to do now in the so called golden years. I would hate to think like the author did, gosh his life would have to be the pits for him to even publish such. My father lived to be 90, very vibrant, had a huge garden the last year of his life, worked outside all the time, people told me his hand shake was the strongest of anyone they had met, never feebled, in good mental health, excellent memory and tired me out just watching him work around his home. He died an accidental death. Only in his 80s was diabetes discovered (treated with 1 pill a day) and then closer to his death macular degeneration but as far as his life, he was a go getter and I hope to live and be the same.

and I think the author would happily take - 1 diabetes pill a day also

I hope you enjoy a healthy life --- chances are you will go even further than 90!

Obamacare does the same thing. Thanks, but no thanks. - I'll decide for myself

Thanks, I usually do not read - DNR/DNI

I usually do not read posts with links and little else. Too many times you end up at some Breitbart article, etc. This was very interesting. I think in this person's frame of reference, 75 seems good. In my frame of reference 90 is good, with relatives having a good and vibrant life that changes around 90 (although I do like the idea of the last colonoscopy being at 65).

One of the problems for a non-health care person is being one's own advocate. I would have antibiotics, minor surgeries, etc. I would want some good advice regarding more complex procedures. Recently, my FIL in mid-80's is failing. When he goes to the doctor, he says "I am fine." That is the answer he gives all the time, that is his nature. We have to have someone go with him to make sure the doctor's understand what the problems really are. He needs an advocate to make sure small problems are taken care of so they do not become big problems.

The other thing about this article, it makes me realize how important that kids get Michelle Obama's nutritional diet in school and kids learn to eat properly. Also that funding is restored to schools to have some phy-ed times to learn life-time activities and sports. I have struggled with being overweight most of my life--I recall hotdogs being served smothered in cheese and bread at lunch at school. Makes me gag now. I am fatter than my aunts/mom and dad were. Many of my kids/nieces and nephews are fatter than I am, and many of my great nieces and nephews are fatter than their parents. A pretty sad statement that I wish was not true. There is a good chance that my aging will not be as fullfilling as my elders.

There is nothing wrong with Breitbarts articles - Thought we were not supposed to do what you did

[ In Reply To ..]
I thought cutting down sources were not allowed here. There is nothing wrong with Breitbart's articles, nor other conservative articles.

The rest of your post sounds like an ad for the DNC.

As for Michael's disastrous school lunch programs it's a complete disaster. There is a way to help child (AND adult) obesity, starving kids in school, feeding them tasteless garbage while you lavish your own kids with the best is not the way to go. Can she show the country any more clearer who little she cares about the countries children. More and more parents are making their kids lunches and rightly so.
Once again, the "Michael" thing?? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I would think we would welcome encouraging parents to make their kids' own lunches and not being on the public school dole.
Um, yeah. Just following what - Obama calls her.
[ In Reply To ..]
It was actually a typo since I wrote "she" in my post. But I would suggest if you have a hard time with what Obama is calling her then you need to take it up with him and ask him to please stop.
I have mistakenly called my husband by - the cat's name
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't do it repeatedly---it's demeaning.
I accidently wrote Michael once. Michael and Michelle are pretty similar - what's with the "repeatedly"
[ In Reply To ..]
I posted one message. Not "repeatedly"

My dad calls me my sisters name and calls my sister my name. It's not demeaning. Our names are similar. At least we can laugh about it.
Wait, what? - sm

She said: "I usually do not read posts with links and little else. Too many times you end up at some Breitbart article, etc."

Question: How does pointing out that posts with links and little else often lead to Breitbart, etc. somehow equal "cutting down sources?"

Answer: It doesn't.
I keep seeing these "wait, what?" posts. - sm

Are we supposed to be waiting for something? Is that the "what"?
It must be hard to go thru life in the dark - about everything.

Um, this is Ezekiel Emanuel's own opinion - he is not telling anyone else what to do

[ In Reply To ..]
So how are you generalizing that to pulling your plug? Honestly. I noticed that the awful Betsy McCaughey didn't even have the guts to be interviewed by the Daily Show. Everything out of her mouth is lies and garbage.

I have known many doctors, even cancer doctors, who will not go through chemo or other treatments themselves if they get struck with cancer. It is a personal thing. I have also seen others who go to Mexico, try one crazy cure after the other, to no avail usually.

It is a personal thing and it is up to everyone how they wish to fight or accept what comes in old age. This is simply his personal statement of what he would like when he ages, NOT what everyone else should do.

Obamacare Architect Wants To Raise PenalitiesOct 27, 2016
'The law's working as designed. . . However, it could work better. . . we need a larger mandate penalty.' Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber joined CNN on Wednesday morning to say the best way to fix the failing health-care law he engineered would be to increase the “penalty.” A recent study found that Obamacare insurance plans will cost many Americans about 22 percent more next year. For some — like those in Phoenix, Arizona — the cost is much worse, about a 145 ...

Obamacare Is Failing From Behind... His Goals For ObamacareJul 20, 2016
1) Have it collapse so that single payer can be implemented amidst the ensuing chaos. 2) Have that happen on somebody else’s watch. Obamacare was designed to fail so the Democrats could “reform” it with complete government provided socialized medicine. That is the entire purpose for it. Obamacare is designed to collapse so they can backfill the vacuum with government run socialized medicine. Eventually, everyone will be on some form of Medicare. I believe that was one of Bernie’ ...
