What is the answer to handling ISIS?

Posted: Sep 16, 2014

I've read a lot of bickering about this topic and yet I have yet to see someone give an answer or at least a good suggestion of what to do.

We never should have gotten rid of Saddam Hussein.  Yes...he was a dictator and treated his people poorly but he also kept extremists like ISIS out of Iraq.  We went in and got rid of Hussein and the extremists have taken over that country.  We got rid of Bin Laden and that hasn't stopped the craziness.  We got rid of Mubarak in Egypt and now the Muslim Brotherhood has taken over.  It seems to me like we have created more problems for ourselves.

Now we have ISIS threatening us and beheading 2 Americans.  What do we do?  We really cannot afford to send troops and start another war....and yet the extremists have declared war on us already.  They will also continue to threaten us and kill Americans to prove they can.  Can we stop them?  Have we grown so weak in their opinion that they think we won't stop them?

I really don't have a good answer for this.  What is the solution here?  Do we just stand back and let this madness play out over there?  Do we risk wasting more American lives and money by sending our people over there?

I don't want to send troops over there but to not do anything, in my opinion, makes us look weak and will only encourage them to keep doing what they are doing.  It is like there is really no good answer here.

I try to imagine if the Christian faith became known for radicalism - I would probably try to distance myself from it somehow - let the world know that there are two "Christians" the radical ones and the original ones - however, I do not think we hear enough from the Muslims condemning the radical side of their religion. Why don't they speak out more? Why don't they condemn those who kill and try to "recruit" those back that have been radicalized? I would hope that as a Christian, I would defend what is good about it and condemn those who would chose to smear it.....are they afraid of the radicals as well?

How do you suppose we would hear it? - sm

There is a real fear of being killed at this point, so it has to be an underground, covert effort.

We have heard from Muslims here in the United States that this is not the Muslim they associate with and that they do not support this group, but many don't believe it.

CNN Reliable Sources had Anjam Choudary on and he is a more radical Muslim--I think the only thing I got out of that other than irritation was that he thinks the West should leave the Middle East alone--let them have their culture and treat their people the way they wish. I suppose that would mean letting journalists know that they will not be protected or cared for in any way shape or form either! BTW, just to keep the news source credibility intact the CNN guy Brian Stelter didn't seem too happy with the guy either.

But, in U.S. philosophy I would say we should infiltrate their group. They have been doing "heavy" recruiting in the U.S. Well...some need to join. (maybe I have been watching too many spy movies, maybe not). and I think Navy Seals might be appropriate. We are probably going to lose some individuals over this, but I think that might be a better solution than the 1000s we have lost in Iraq and Afghanistan.

For starters, close our borders! - sm

Stop all illegal AND legal immigration at the present time, including ALL Muslims. I read somewhere that in 20 years there will be enough Muslims in the U.S. to elect a Muslim president. Would that be part of the plan for a caliphate?

would that be by air, train, bus and foot? - stopping all travel?

What about imported and exported goods? - People usually accompany them.
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm sure that one would go over well...
Yeah, you'd have to stop importing goods. - Bombs could be on them.

That would help the economy, huh?

How many of those Muslims will be US citizens - who converted? sm

You do realize that Muslims are followers of Islam (a religion), right? Closing the borders will not necessarily stop that population from increasing. Besides, if we ban a religion from entering this country, all one has to do is lie. Is there even a way to prove what faith one follows?

Do you know that Fox News is partially owned by a Muslim prince? - Things that make you hmm.

Look it up on Wikipedia.

Could it be that Muslims are trying to systematically divide our country against each other?

Solution? Yes. - JMHO

Handling Of Iran Versus Israel In ISIS ThreatSep 30, 2014
Netanyahu did his best yesterday to equate Iran with Hamas with ISIS--now will the administration buy it and go back to protect Israel at any cost or are we going to negotiate with Muslim countries to defeat ISIS?  If we don't negotiate with Muslim countries for this objective, I think it will definitely take a land invasion to get this done (otherwise labelled World War III).  I don't think the rest of the "coalition" is up for that--just don't think they will show up. ...

ADEN, YEMEN -- Two years ago, Mohsin al-Askari was released from his prison cell at Guantanamo Bay, but he has found neither freedom nor a new life in his homeland. Potential employers are afraid to hire him. At 28, he depends on his father for financial support, charities for medical care. With each rejection, his frustration grows, as does the temptation to return to his old life of jihad. "The government hasn't done anything to help me," said Askari, his voice filled with bitterness. ...
