Former Virginia governor found guilty in influence-peddling case

Posted: Sep 4, 2014

"A former rising star in the Republican Party, former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell was red-faced and sobbing Thursday when a jury convicted him and his wife on multiple counts related to influence peddling while he was in office.

After more than a month of sometimes soul-baring testimony, the federal jury issued guilty verdicts on 11 counts against McDonnell, while clearing him on two others. His wife, Maureen, was convicted on nine while cleared on four.

The former first couple wept openly in the Richmond courtroom as the verdicts came in."

Laughing  Boo hoo.  Typical conservative values at work here; they just got caught.

;

At least he wasn't charged with felony sexual harassment - like Bob Filner-D.

Or like John Edwards, cheating on his wife while she was dying with cancer.

Or like Weiner showing his private parts on twitter.

What a trio of winners. Do you want to hear about more Democratic winners?

way up top at the highest rung on that morality ladder they've got going on, and THAT makes a HUGE difference and just adds to the hypocrisy of that party.

You said: "Do you want to hear about more Democratic winners?"

Sure, why not? It doesn't bother me one little bit. This is today's breaking news, which is why I posted it, but kindly take the off-topic self-comforting walks down Deflection Lane to another thread. Thank you.

I'll kindly take my stroll down Deflection Lane... - sm

...and post whatever deflection I fancy. I learned how to do it so well by watching it done here. Here's the latest deflection:

Gov. Cuomo (D) gets branded as "corrupt" by both sides. Read all about it at the link noted below.

You mean, Next up Eric Holder, and then - Next up Barack Oboob. nm

Your chance to remove Eric Holder and Barack Obama was in November 2012. Not even a good try, but we have these lovely parting gifts, and thank you for playing.

No, I think the poster you replied to was right on - Leave your sarcasm out please

In the OP that I posted, which I realize is a sore subject that conservatives are desperate to change the focus of, I said "next up, Rick Perry," and I happen to have meant exactly that. Rick Perry happens to be a governor under indictment, just like the subject I posted in the OP.

To borrow your phrasing, "Guess you don't understand how things work." My OP was based on reality and real indictments versus fiction and conservative fantasy.
Yep, and then Chris Christie, too. - sm

By Daniel TencerWednesday, April 7th, 2010 -- 1:45 pm Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell is being accused of historical revisionism after reinstating the state's controversial Confederate History Month and declaring that the event won't focus on slavery because the issue is not "significant" enough in Virginia. IRS Found Guilty Of Bias Against The Tea Party,May 15, 2017
Details about tea party bias claims against the IRS could remain secret because current and former agency officials say their lives are in danger if they publicly testify about the case. Virginia Says No To Requiring Health InsuranceFeb 03, 2010
Virginia's Democratic-controlled state Senate passed measures Monday that would make it illegal to require individuals to purchase health insurance, a direct challenge to the party's efforts in Washington to reform health care.   But the action in Virginia, a state that backed Obama in 2008, could indicate that the president is failing to reassure members of his own party that current reform efforts remain worthwhile. The votes also suggest that Democrats on the state level fear ...
