It's time to take back America (according to Joey)

Posted: Sep 2, 2014

I saw this article (and if you don't like the source look for it elsewhere please, I just don't feel like posting a dozen or so links of the same article from different sources because people don't like certain sources even though the event is real and did happen), but now Biden is saying "It's time to take back America".

Really Joe? Take back America?  Take back from who?  Who exactly do you think it needs taking back from?  Cos in case you haven't noticed you already have it hostage.  And guess what?  As someone once said here "it's not "your" country to take back".

http://general.mtstars.com/384387.html

I guess they must be pretty desperate to win and hence now plagarizing what the republicans, independents and tea party has been saying all along.

So no Joey you don't get to "take back America".  You already have it and you're doing one heck of a job on all of us for the worse.  Why in the world would you even think that America is going to keep you in to continue destroying it.  Americans are starting to wake up.  Maybe you should have thought about this before you started down the path of destruction.

All this talk of “If the middle class is doing fine, everybody is doing fine,”  “The middle class is the reason why America ... has been so stable economically, politically and socially.”  Really Joey, then why is your party destroying the middle class.  You've been in power now for what?  Over 5 years and you don't do anything to help us, that is until right before election.  America knows that.  We are not as foolish as you look.  So now right before its election and you know how poorly you've all performed now your promising the country the moon.  Same as last election and the one before.  Then once election is over all is forgotten.  You talk about raising minimum wage?  Why didn't you try and do something about it in 2009 after you were elected, how about 2010 or 2011 or 2012 or 2013.  Heck, not even at the beginning of the year did you talk about this.  Only right before elections.  Minimum wage is just one of hundred things on the list you are promising, but we all remember you also promised all this the last time election was around, then once put back into position all is forgotten and the destruction continued.

Oh yeah, maybe you need to talk to your party too, because according to Holder and Obama, saying "take back America" is racist.  Didn't you get the memo?

We don't outlaw phrases. Holder referred to a specific context in which he was hearing this phrase. Joe Biden has used the phrase in ANOTHER context, Mrs. T:

Vice President Joe Biden staked his claim to the labor vote by declaring that “it’s time to take back America” in order to ensure that the middle class gets an “equal share” of prosperity in the country.

and then there are some who just never stop - supporting the left.

The context to which Holder and Obama refer to the (so called racist) phrase of "It's time to take back America" is whenever a republican, independent or tea party person uses it. That's when they deem it "racist". If a democrat, liberal or communist use it then it's okay. That is their standards. (I include communists because there is a viable party in this country that is communist. If you don't believe me here is their website. They are real just like the republican, independent, democrat and tea party)

http://cpusa.org/

The dems, libs, coms do not care about the middle class at all. Proof is what they have done to us while in office. The only "equal share" they are talking about is that all the middle class get equal of what the other middle class has. They certainly are not about to share their (you know the 1%ers) prosperity and wealth. What they talk about "equal share" is Socialism (with a capital S). Unfortunately it never is good for the middle income, but it's great for them (the ones in charge).

Yes, that is a racist expression, according to Holder (sm) - LM

but isn't Joey the one who also said Obama was clean and articulate? and didn't speak with a Negro dialect? So if he said that and it's okay, I guess it's also okay to say "take our country back." ---- hypocrites.

Mrs. Tingles said: "Americans are starting to wake up."

Then she said: "You talk about raising minimum wage? Why didn't you try and do something about it in 2009 after you were elected, how about 2010 or 2011 or 2012 or 2013. Heck, not even at the beginning of the year did you talk about this. Only right before elections."

Well, heck, I can only deduce that some Americans are indeed still asleep if they think raising the minimum wage is a new subject coming up "right before elections." Those of us who have been awake about this subject are here to help those who apparently are not awake but for whatever crazy reason seem to think they are awake and we are the ones asleep.

Even an awake casual observer of the subject of minimum wage could tell you that the federal minimum wage was last increased on July 24, 2009, to $7.25 per hour. President Obama proposing a minimum wage increase in 2009 after his swearing in on 01/21/2009 when one was scheduled to phase in a few months later would have indeed been on a fool's errand. Since that increase to $7.25 in July 2009 during Obama's first year in office, the minimum wage has not been adjusted for inflation and consumer prices have risen sharply. So, heck, around 3-1/2 years after the last minimum wage hike, the POTUS in his State of the Union address in January 2013 called for a raise in minimum wage to $9 an hour. Joey remembers it; he was awake.

http://youtu.be/CKwE2EGsfMk?t=34m11s

Oh, heck, I guess some people were still asleep then in early 2013. Maybe they were still upset after the reelection of President Obama just a couple months before after all their efforts to make him a 1-term president failed, and maybe it just totally didn't get through. I remember people complaining then about how Obama's figure of $9 was too low.

I guess lots of people were still asleep in January 2014 when President Obama in his State of the Union address again called on Congress to raise the minimum wage, this time from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour, and soon thereafter the president signed an Executive Order to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 for the individuals working on new federal service contracts, also called for equal pay for women (again).

http://youtu.be/vA2uLBO2KUA?t=45m28s

Joey remembers that too. And heck, maybe people who missed all this just think they're awake because this was talked about a lot and complained about too a lot with the words "phone and pen" being overused.

So Labor Day 2014 rolls around and the subject of raising the minimum wage comes up again naturally, because it is Labor Day after all, and after years of calling for it and several bills being introduced in Congress and being blocked by Republicans (April 2014), this poster decides it's a new issue just being brought up before elections, which is about as factual as all the regular drivel we see spewed out here every single day.

His labor day speech was in Detroit, MI at the - Truthhurts

GM car plant parking lot. Why?

"You deserve a little R&R, a little barbecue - little grilling because you’ve been working hard. You’ve been working hard to make ends meet. You’ve been working hard to build a better life for your kids. You’ve been working hard to build a better Detroit."

"...So that’s what we’re fighting for, Michigan. We’re fighting for good jobs with good wages. We’re fighting for health care when you get sick. We’re fighting for a secure retirement even if you’re not rich. We’re fighting for the chance to give our kids a better life than we had....."

Too bad Detroit is bankrupt. Too bad he doesn't realize that GM workers make over and above what a regular worker makes (at lat glance with bennies, they made around $70/hour) and that was back in 2008.

Wages, bonuses, overtime and paid time off average about $40 an hour. Add in benefits such as health insurance and pensions and you get to about $55. Another $15 or so in benefits to retirees (known as "legacy costs") brings the number to roughly $70.

So they have pensions, they have healthcare, they have good wages. They are the elite of the work force.

So why was Obama making a speech there?

....and after the debacle of all the union workers at the GM plant being caught smoking dope, drinking alcohol, this is the group he praises????

It's laughable. They don't know what $10 an hour means to them....or could they be happy because if Obama gets his way with minimum wage increases, the auto workers union will be asking for that much more? Yep. That's probably it.

Who was it that said people should do their homework? - sm

You said: "His labor day speech was in Detroit, MI at the GM car plant parking lot. Why?" Then you quoted Obama's speech:

"You deserve a little R&R, a little barbecue - little grilling because you’ve been working hard. You’ve been working hard to make ends meet. You’ve been working hard to build a better life for your kids. You’ve been working hard to build a better Detroit."

You seem to be completely unaware that this speech in Detroit you're ranting about was given by President Obama in 2011, THREE years ago. Thank you so much for making my point that the minimum wage increase has been a topic of conversation for many, many years. Coming from a conservative poster, maybe Mrs. Tingles will actually believe it. She seems to be under the mistaken impression that the minimum wage increase issue is something just now brought up right before the latest elections, which is, of course, not remotely the truth at all.

I once attended a political rally at a sports team's gymnasium, and I'm not a basketball player. Imagine that they can hold a political rally at a particular site but others that may not be employed there making the same wages can attend the rally...... because they can and do actually do that all the time.

Speaking on Labor Day this year, Obama criticized congressional Republicans for blocking efforts to raise the minimum wage. "Not only is it not right," Obama said, "it ain’t right." "I'm not asking for the moon, I just want a good deal for American workers."

I agree with Obama here. Mrs. Tingles seems upset that Obama is doing nothing to help the middle class, which he is trying and has been for years, and you seem to be upset that the president is trying to raise the minimum wage for people who, in your view, don't deserve it because they are somehow morally unworthy. Regardless, Republicans in Congress are blocking it, which you conservatives can either be glad or mad about, depending on your seemingly competing conservative points of view.

Vice President Biden spoke in Detroit this year, and President Obama's Labor Day speech was held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which if you had actually done your homework, nobody would have to be correcting your so-called facts...... again.
