Details are coming out now. It's not always about race and I wish people would stop propagating that notion. It does nothing but harm. How many times have there been riots or lootings because of black-on-white crime?

It just seems like wishful thinking to absolve the officer and the police chief is not helping by not laying out the full details in evidence and instead insinuating what he wished really happened and inviting people to draw their own highly subjective conclusions.

Why not? In any case, resembling a description does not make Brown the perpetrator. You need to remember that police officers are not empowered with meting out justice. That's for the courts to do. Cops don't get to shoot people. You know that, right?

Police said officers were dispatched to a strong arm robbery at a Ferguson convenience store moments before the shooting. That strong arm robbery was caught on video.

According to the incident report from robbery, Michael Brown was named as a suspect. Brown, and an acquaintance, identified only as Johnson, reportedly took several boxes of cigars from that convenience store. An unnamed witness then called 911. Moments later, Brown allegedly grabbed a victim and pushed him against shelves in the store.

Dorian Johnson, a witness to the shooting, spoke to News 4 shortly after the shooting. Police have not said if Dorian Johnson is the same Johnson named in the incident report.

Ferguson Chief says, Friday afternoon, 08/15, repeatedly, from the interview of shooting cop, Darren Wilson, with St. Louis County Police Department, that the shooting cop, Darren Wilson stated that he did not know anything about the alleged robbery and that he only stopped Brown for walking in the street.

is "theft". It's a far lesser crime. Dude was unarmed, and his hands were up.

If he was running away, deadly force was still not indicated. Cop could have chased on foot (but being a southern "good ol' boy", he was probably too fat to be successful at it, I'll bet!). He could have called for backup. It just didn't warrant killing the guy.

I'd be interested in knowing exactly what type of weapon the cop was carrying, and how long ago it was issued. My guess is his trigger finger was too itchy to not be "scratched."

Thought it was also interesting if you listen to 911 tapes that the Ferguson station got info on the shooting from the news and not from the cop who shot him. Maybe the cop was in shock.

I honestly don't see how you avoid it.

In some strange, contorted way, I was almost glad to see the people of Ferguson rise up. It has drawn much needed attention to racism in this country and militarization of police.

This case has a few unique characteristics that the police will not be able to rise above, such as number of shots fired and eyewitness accounts.

At least this could be a first step for cleaning house in the Ferguson/St. Louis County Police Departments.

I don't find it anywhere near as shocking as the officer having shot the 18-year-old.

I've even heard it said that the looters and violence (Molotov cocktails) were not from the community (opportunists) or even staged by authority so as to bring out the big guns (conspiracy theory). I don't believe the latter. The first, perhaps, the rioters were joined by other communities. I think it was emotions running high. And, seeing as no one really got hurt, yes, it might have been "worth it" to make sure the story and the issue is thoroughly explored.

I just hope the incompetency of the past few days and continuing into today, does not result in more violence. The setting is there, and St. Louis is a big city.

If you are not from the area, Ferguson is minutes from the rest of the City. I have relatives there and I have asked how things are for them. They are confident that it will go no further, so, we hope and wait for justice.

I only think that is true in the case of very young people whose parents are raising them to be insensitive and limiting their exposure to the world. In the case of the posters on this board, these people are old enough to know better, but choose to hold onto their hate and intolerance for those they deem to be "others." These are the people who tune into Rush and Hannity so that they can make sure they have their hate and intolerance validated. They don't want to be exposed to different viewpoints because as the saying goes: "When you know better, you do better." They don't WANT to know or do better.

so, it can be classified as strong-arm robbery. Not "robber armed and dangerous." I do think I have gleaned that he was wearing something like yellow socks which might have been a bit clearer identifier.

You will never convince me that he needed to be shot that many times with his hands over his head.

If the cop were actually trying to apprehend a "strong arm robber," why did he pull his car up next to him and hit him with the door or whatever. If you don't believe that happened, how in the world did the cop put himself in the position of a possible suspect leaning into his car? Is this guy Barney Fife or what?

I think the story of the girls seeing Brown leaning into the car and tussling are true. I don't think any cop would allow himself to be approached that way. IMHO, unless he initiated it, by pulling on the kid.

And, just for an "of interest" another historical incident for Ferguson - see link. Of course, this is only 1 more incident.

At this point, it is boiling down to whether you believe black people are discriminated against in racial profiling and whether cops are heavy-handed and in some cases, just plain scared, and have bad reactions.

I fear for tonight's reactions on the streets of Ferguson, again.

This kid made a bad bad decision and was probably paranoid because he knew himself he had just committed a crime... panicked... fought the cop... lost his life. I have heard that the "footage" of the "robbery" is possibly months old and possibly was dug up to incriminate the young dead man. Again. They just love to put the innocent young dead people on trial, don't they.

We are only trying to figure out what happened and if a few prejudices and firm opinions get knocked by someone who actually lives there and can give us an idea of how things are, OR some genuine questions are asked about what is more important, people's property or a young man's life, that is a good thing, not a bad thing.

We are so polarized we will only watch one channel or the other, but there is objective truth and we are not going to find it by listening to whoever tells us what we want to hear.

The facts are not in. I agree about the sunlight and really like that analogy. What I don't like are the racial undertones I keep reading. I've posted a few things here, but nothing at all about race. We have to get beyond racism in this country. What is it going to take? Situations like this just make it worse when there are people propagating it.

Can anyone suggest a brand of reasonably priced brown mascara? I once bought some at a department store years ago, but it was very expensive. I saw how may coffee lovers we have on this board below, and I am certainly one of them, but I just can't stand how brown my teeth turn when I drink it. Any tips to keep this from happening? I brush twice a day, and I even gave up tea and coffee for a couple of months and my teeth turned back to white. I buy sweet potatoes by the box load, about 25 pounds at a time, also buy onions and oranges the same way at the farmer's market. Would anyone have any ideas about how to store the items instead of their being in the boxes like they are now, out in the kitchen?
