suspension

Posted: Jul 13, 2014

I am having trouble maintaining a 100 minute per shift of transcription, part of it is due to 4 serious health conditions and I often do not feel well. the rest of it is days when all you get are ESLs and mumblers or 0.5-8 all day and can't get the 100 minutes that day.

the next thing is termination I have been doing this for 43 years.

is there anything to help up my output

My suggestion would be the FMLA. I went through a year of chemotherapy, and there were may days I could not work at all, and many days I could only work a little. Talk to your supervisor about FMLA. There is a form your doctor must fill out documenting your illness, and then it is sent to the company (in my case, the company I worked for had contracted with Hartford.) The doctor will have to describe your medical condition and what you are and are not capable of doing, and how long your illness will last. This should protect you from losing your job.

You have to be pretty close to retirement age if you've been doing this for 43 years. If you get fired because you have health problems I would think you can get unemployment for a year, that will take you over the time frame needed to file for disability. But why not just take retirement? If you aren't making enough money there are tons of programs to help you with utilities (PIPP and HEAP), property taxes (Homestead reduction), mortgage help (http://www.makinghomeaffordable.gov/programs/Pages/default.aspx) if you're in Ohio http://www.savethedream.ohio.gov/, and all kinds of other things. Don't sit and wait on bad things, look at your options because I promise you they exist! Unfortunately in the last year I've had to become seriously acquainted with them. I'm on medicaid now, I'm 4 months behind on my house payment and 3 on my car payment and I'm waiting on approval on my HAMP application. If you talk to people you will be surprised at what they will do for you. Good luck to you.
