Guns in bars and churches in Georgia

Posted: Apr 23, 2014

Nothing makes me feel more secure than a drunk dude with a gun, except maybe this!!

Under the bill, school districts would now be able, if they wanted, to allow some employees to carry a firearm under certain conditions. The bill also eliminates the fingerprinting requirement for renewing weapons carry licenses.

According to the Marietta Daily Journal, the legislation prohibits the state from creating and maintaining a database of licensed weapons carriers and repeals the state-required license for firearms dealers.

;

guess I'll be staying out of Georgia - hello wild wild west again

[ In Reply To ..]
plus I never did understand 'concealed carry' I want weapons in full view so I can choose to stay far far away

Can we really be surprised by this - Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, etc.

[ In Reply To ..]
There is no problem that so many in the south think can't be solved by packing a lethal weapon.

SCOTTY BEAM me up!

I think law should be - changed

[ In Reply To ..]
If you wish to carry a gun with you everywhere, you should also be required to carry a banjo and at least 2 picks with it.

You're right. It's the SOUTH, not the WEST! - nm

I somehow don't picture Jesus endorsing - bring a lethal weapon into HIS house

[ In Reply To ..]
such an insult to his teachings.

that's the night - that the

lights went out in Georgia. Zing! Zing! Zing!

I don't picture Jesus endorsing a lot of things - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't picture him endorsing most of what the politicians/bankers/etc are doing. Or having people argue this way over politics, name calling, etc.

I also don't think he envisioned nutcakes entering churches and murdering people (I've read of a few cases of that happening). I don't think he would have endorsed people getting mugged on the steps of the vatican or people shot up in His houses.

Back when he was around the types of crime we have today didn't exist. I think in past instances if someone had a ways to protect people some of them would not have died at the hands of madmen in His houses or anywhere else.

The death of - logic....

[ In Reply To ..]
Touched a nerve I see. You can try to dismiss the point I was making, but there is NO WAY Jesus would condone this "solution" (reaction) to violent crime.

He was a man of PEACE. He would never endorse copout legislation adding MORE weapons to the pile.
Nope, you didn't touch any nerves - In fact....
[ In Reply To ..]
There was nothing in my message to even think a nerve was touched. I just stated my thoughts on it. Jesus didn't envision a lot of things. Times were much different back then.

Since Jesus is not here people should not speak for him when they have no idea what he would do or say given our modern times and the situations that we encounter.

Yes he was a man of peace. He was also a man of reason. I believe he would want people to be able to protect themselves.

I think people should not speak for those who are dead and are not here to speak for themselves as nobody knows exactly what he would or would not want in today's day and age.
right, that's why you had to answer me - again!
[ In Reply To ..]
Jesus would NEVER condone lethal weapons in his house (church)

Instead, he would ask us to find a PEACEFUL solution. He would ask us to unclench the fist, put down the killing machines, love one another, WORK TO PREVENT the violence, not roll over, surrender by saying MY gun is better and bigger than yours.

You can use whatever excuse you want to defend the proliferation of violence (more guns). At the end of the day it does NOT advance the cause for peace.
I answered you because you posted incorrect information - IMO and I have the right to address that
[ In Reply To ..]
in a peaceful manner, which I did. Looks like you are the one that the nerve has been struck with.

Lastly, your religious viewpoints should be talked about on the faith board. Nobody knows what Jesus would or would not do, but I will not address any further religious viewpoints on the political board.

Have a nice night.

Guns everywhere! - Innocent people will be hurt

[ In Reply To ..]
Drunk guys with guns, what could go wrong??! This is really insanity. I just can imagine the scene today in a crowded mall including people with strollers, people with elderly relatives on a shopping outing, etc. and 2 hotheads start shooting. The shoppers will be like people in the old TV westerns all scrambling to get out of the way, but I'm afraid some won't be able to scramble fast enough and will get hurt.

Yeah your right - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
It is much better to have the criminals running around in crowded malls killing people and not allowing people a way to protect themselves. I think that's so much better (rolling eyes).

Did you see what happened in the mall in Kenya and others throughout the country? Chilling to the bone. We need to know there are trained people who will be there to help protect the innocent people.

Oh right, like the ONLY sane solution - is MORE GUns!

[ In Reply To ..]
Yes, there is a chance that a good guy or girl would be in the right place at the right time, have the shot, and take it - and NOT hit ANYONE but the bad guys!

So let's not look at any other possible solutions lets just arm Americans to the teeth, turn the place into the OK corral and let G-d sort it all out!

more guns = STUPID STUPID STUPID
Yeah, your right. The criminals will stop what they are doing - if you use harsh language
[ In Reply To ..]
Better yet as they are getting reading to slaughter people if you say please don't I'm sure they'll stop (rolling eyes again).

You are being a bit dramatic as that is not what anyone is suggesting.

Responsible trained people with carry permits who are trained and who can help the innocent is SMART SMART SMART

Allowing the criminals to run free and slaughter innocent people because why? They'll be the ones with guns. Not allowing responsible citizens who are trained and who are of sound mind and body to be allowed a way to protect the people - STUPID STUPID STUPID
more - guns

[ In Reply To ..]
disingenuous, no surprise. Like I *ever* suggested for a new York second that in lieu of more weaponry our choices are limited to 'harsh language' or 'please don't'

an evolved society thinks of and implements REAL solutions - the society you envision shoots first and asks questions later.

What REAL solutions? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I see both sides of this issue and if I had to cast a vote, I would truly be at a loss. What REAL solutions do you think an "evolved society" would implement?

Who Is Burning Black Churches? 6 ChurchesJun 30, 2015
The media certainly is not covering this. This must be investigated and stopped. It is probably a furtherance of terrorism and racism propagated by the controversy surrounding the shooting at AME. I don't for a minute believe it is not purposeful, directed and pointed arson and terrorism. ...

19 Bars Of SoapAug 30, 2011
It's been over a year, and I am finally down to 19 bars of soap.  I have had to walk away from the soap aisle just to stop myself, resisting the urge to purchase even more.  What is up with that?  Also, I must have 20 plates and 20 coffee cups, with just me and my 10/yo living here.  Most of those are going to have to hit the thrift store, since I just bought 4 more!  I know I'm nuts.  Just wondering if there are others out there who cannot stop themselves ...

Moist Cinamin Apple BarsJul 04, 2014
I came across this site I wanted to share.  First, I cannot wait to make these apple bars (have to get the ingredients first).  They look so scrumptious and moist and my mouth is watering looking at the pic.  The pic is up close and they look very moist. I like that she has step by step directions with pics. I also cannot wait to make the vanilla yogurt cake & moist banana bread.  I've made plenty of banana muffins, but most are always dry.  This one looks very ...

Assembly Of God Churches.May 14, 2012
I have been going to Assembly of God churches for a long time.  I love the fellowship that they provide and a lot of music.  Most of the people who attend these churches are very down-to-earth type of people and good-hearted, generous of spirit.  Oddly enough I was raised in the Catholic church, but I knew for a long time I did not belong there.  Of course that was many years ago and the reliigion was much different then or so I have heard.  The priests seemed distant, ...

Info About GeorgiaApr 28, 2013
My husband and I have been living in Arizona for the last 7 years and think it's time for a change. We were thinking about Georgia-drove through it once on way to Florida many years ago and remember it as a pretty state. I wonder if anyone is from the Walton county area. We are looking for a smaller town and there seems to be some in Walton county. I would just like some information about how it is to live in that area (crime, access to shopping and medical care, etc.) We're older now ...

Guns And Intrinsic Danger. Or, "guns Don't Kill, People Kill"Dec 15, 2012
If I were at a party, left the adults and put a nerf ball in the familiy room where the children were playing, nobody'd think anything of it. If I put a loaded gun in there, every adult would rush to get it before the children did. THAT IS BECAUSE GUNS ARE INTRINSICALLY DANGEROUS. The only thing that changed was the presence of a gun, but no one would claim it was actually the children who were dangerous. Suicides by gun are much more likely to result in death than ANY of the other usual ...

Georgia....... Crime Rate Apr 20, 2010
In 1982, Kennesaw, Georgia passed a city gun ordinance that required heads of households to keep at least one firearm in their homes. Crimes against persons which include homicide, rape, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and burglary, plummeted 74 percent the first year, dropped another 45 percent the next year, and has remained notably low ever since, despite a doubling of the population. From 1983 to 1993, armed robberies averaged a mere 1.6 annually, rapes 1.5, and murders (none with firearm ...

Nathan Deal is stepping down from his elected position as a representative from Georgia. Georgia--No ACA, No Emergency Room CareMar 01, 2014
Talk about getting what you vote for. Move out of Georgia if you can. . . **** Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal (R) has a problem: rural hospitals keep closing, overwhelmed by financial troubles they can’t solve on their own. The obvious solution – accepting Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act – is the one thing Deal refuses to even consider. There is no great mystery here as to why the rural hospitals can’t keep their doors open. These facilities have routinely covered low- ...
