What's up with Al Sharpton?

Posted: Apr 9, 2014

Holy Cow! Where was I in the '80s? I don't remember him being a snitch or a rat for the FBI, or an informant, or a drug dealer? How that did get swept under the rug?

;

I should have said "Reverend" Al Sharpton... - ...a man of the cloth...

Yikes! MSM is going to have to do a lot of spin on this one.

what is wrong with helping the FBI convict mafia members? - sm

He says he's not a rat. So, what is he? A buyer? A supplier? A user?

In an interview Monday with the Daily News, Sharpton acknowledged assisting the FBI beginning in 1983, but he denied he was an informant and disputed much of The Smoking Gun’s report.

In his interview with The News, Sharpton said he contacted authorities after receiving death threats from Buonanno and others over his activism in trying to get African-Americans more work in the business end of the music industry. “If you’re a victim of a threat, you’re not an informant — you’re a victim trying to protect yourself,” he said.

from the Mafia. His bragging did not do him any good. It took down 3 top Mafia back then...problem is, the FBI doesn't have PAID informants. Just like your state and local police, informants are criminals that are given either a lighter sentence or no sentence at all depending on who that informant brings down.

For example, a street dealer, the informant gets a fine and probation. A drug seller above the street dealer, the informant gets probation. The higher the criminal, the higher the protection from prosecution the informant gets.

Where I live, there's a guy that never spent a day in jail....until this year...because from his 18 years through his 50th year age, he did drugs, alcohol, stealing, robbery, etc., etc., but never spent a day in jail, always got probation because he helped law enforcement bring down some really bad dudes. But, his luck ran out the last time because of the last little bit of trouble he got into and they finally said enough was enough... so he's now spending 2-5 in the state pen...and, BTW, that's a very light sentence for his crimes.

No spin - resist-we-much

The MSM won't even cover the story, so there won't be any spin.

they all call themselves Reverend for whatever reason - he owes millions in back taxes - but he's still out there bold as brass with his ridiculous causes and racial profiling, with his buddy "Rev" Jesse Jackson. Two of the most awful men in history - Martin Luther King must be rolling over in his grave.

"they all" call themselves Reverend? For whatever reason? - who would "they" be in this scenario?

[ In Reply To ..]
You have mentioned three black men. For whatever reason. Most black men don't call themselves reverend.

Sharpton was licensed and ordained a Pentecostal minister by Bishop F.D. Washington at the age of nine or ten. After Bishop Washington's death in the late 1980s, Sharpton became a Baptist. He was re-baptized as a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in 1994 by the Reverend William Jones and became a Baptist minister.

Jesse Jackson graduated with a B.S. in sociology in 1964, then attended the Chicago Theological Seminary on a scholarship. He dropped out in 1966, three classes short of earning his master's degree, to focus full-time on the civil rights movement. He was ordained a minister in 1968, and in 2000, was awarded his Master of Divinity Degree based on his previous credits earned, plus his life experience and subsequent work.

Al Green became an ordained pastor of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Memphis in 1976 and continues to serve in this capacity.

If Sharpless was a REAL pastor/Rev./minister, he - Truthhurts

would be down on his knees every day PUBLICLY asking God for forgiveness for all the lies he told and all the fraud and deception he's pulled over the years, including this most recent one over the drugs.

To become a true "reverend," most will attend divinity school or a seminary and study religion from a Christian perspective.

Sharpless did not attend theological school and has said he has no interest in pastoring a church. Therefore, he is not ordained as a true reverend,. It is just a title just like Mr., et al. that confuses those who think he is a true ordained minister.

Just like his life, it is another falsehood.

I doubt it - NK

I'm sure Dr. (as he called himself since he, in fact, had a doctorate degree) Martin Luther King, Jr., is resting quite comfortably. I'm sure he would be quite familiar with the hatred now foisted on Rev. Sharpton since he experienced it himself. Actually, Sharplan and other names that posters choose to use in regard to Rev. Sharpton are pretty tame compared to the names Dr. King was called. Thankfully, millions of Americans don't consider civil rights to be ridiculous causes.

Most people hate liars and thieves, which Sharpless is both (nm) - Truthhurts

No one can speak for MLK, of course, but I would imagine he would be very disappointed with the way some people foster racism in 2014. I am purposefully not naming names or entities; I think we know who they are.

MLK was very respected and I doubt he would have embraced - Truthhurts

whose home was bombed. The one who received death threats, who was called a communist and an agitator (among many other unsavory names), who was relentlessly pursued by J. Edgar Hoover. The one who had meetings in the 16th Street Baptist Church, which was bombed, killing 4 little girls, by men who wanted to send him a message. Doesn't sound very respectful to me. I don't know whether he would have embraced Rev. Sharpton but I guarantee he wouldn't have called him cutesy little names like Sharpless or expressed hatred toward him or anyone else under any circumstance.
